Fellow nomads,

I am hoping to finalize plans soon for a trip to Colombia in late July/early August with two other people. I am leaning towards a penthouse in the El Poblado/San Fernando Plaza area of Medellin to check out the nightlife, the women, the culture, the flower festival, and maybe a little bit of recreational flour (I have, of course, always done in moderation). I have not ruled out the possibility of a trip to Cartagena instead of Medellin, although I have ruled out Bogota, Cali, and Barranquilla. Unfortunately I only have one week for the trip, as my friend's job has got him whipped. Any advice or suggestions possible would be greatly appreciated. -Max

i think medellin has more nightlife than cartagena from reading this forum.....

I'm curious, why did you rule these cities out? Is it strictly time constraints by your friends job? They are just as far out as Cartagena (except for Barranquilla).

You sound like you know Medellin pretty well if you are getting a PH in San Fernando Plaza..I own an apt. there myself in the residential tower.


1 week is very aggressive, so, I would stick with girls that won't flake on you over 25 years old to make the best of your time.

If you prefer lighter skinned/blonde women, stick with Medellin. if your looking for a sunset bang in the beach sun with a darker toned latina, then Cartagena. It is peak season right now in Cartagena - so it will be very expensive.

Depends on what city you are visiting.

Bogota - Cold all year long - I am talking lows in the 40's (F) at night, and then warms up to around 70F during the day.

Cali - Opposite of Bogota - Hot as hell all year! Which is why women walk around half naked

Cartagena - worse than Cali! Humidity is near 100% all year long, and hot as hell! Think Miami summer heat, or Arizona heat but with 100% humidity!

Medellin - They call it the eternal springtime, but I say its BS. I've walked up Medellin streets sweating my sack off like a motha! Best time to hit Medellin is January to June for weather...but then again, when you see all the hot women - who cares!

The reason I ruled other cities out isn't because of time constraints, but because of a general consensus we have reached in the group after doing a lot of asking around and researching. I do apologize though, I should not have said that I have ruled out Bogota completely, but it looks like I would rather go to Medellin. I have been told it is more of a cultural capital than Bogota, and the people are more down to earth. I have the idea in my head that Bogota is going to feel too westernized and too much like a typical metropolis (the only analogy I can think of right now would be comparing Montreal to Toronto. I dislike Toronto, love Montreal). I am asking first before judging completely, however, because I have never been to Colombia and as of right now my opinions on the matter mean jack shit. The reasons I am considering Cartagena is because I have heard the nightlife is decent (comparable to Medellin's) and it is coastal. Getting some surfing in would be nice (if there is any surf in the summer at all). I have, however, ruled out Cali. Anyone wanting to try to convince me otherwise is still welcome to do so.

Ok. well, we all have different tastes that's for sure. I personally love Cali, and you can read my data sheets about it in this forum if you'd like.

However, anywhere in Colombia is good. I wish I could live in Colombia full time, and just have a girl in every single city, small town, and village. =)

Well, Bogota has it all! Consider it a sampler of Colombian women. The reason for that is that many women from many parts of Colombia move to Bogota for jobs. Being the capital, Bogotá provides more employment opportunities....

I have met Medellin women in Bogota, and I am even "dating" aka caressing a Cali girl that now lives in Bogota.

You can find stuck up women in any city - to get the real down to earth women, you must venture off the beaten path to places like Cucuta, Bucaramanga or Valledupar. But your Español better be up to par!

No doubt. I will take another look into Cali, but the place I found in Medellin is nice enough and in a good enough location to get me excited.. Although I'm sure we will have a good time wherever we go. I'm going to adjust your expectations a bit, so that you make the most out of your 1 week there.

Medellin girls that live in Poblado - forget 'em. They know you are a temporary passerby, and if your Spanish sucks, then you will immediately be labeled a sex tourist by local women. Unless you look like Brad Pitt, and have Brad Pitt money that you will be throwing around - your chances of banging anything higher than a 6 in Poblado are near zero.

Assuming that women will go for your English advances is a huge risk you are taking. It's actually the opposite; local slang, and Spanish banter they understand is what gets them in your bed fast! Because your Spanish is weak, you will have to put in 10x more effort than if you did speak Spanish. Medellin is FULL of American/Euro tourists, so you are not a novelty, and will have competition among other tourists. This means she has a surplus of gringos she can exploit to her advantage before and after you leave. Know this.

Ok, so now the good news. Your chances of consistent bangs and SNL are in the middle and lower class neighborhoods.

Instead of gaming women in Poblado amongst 100 other tourists doing the same thing, head down to "el centro" with someone who speaks fluent Spanish and game there!

Your chances of getting laid there increase exponentially!

TOP NEIGHBORHOODS FOR SNL GIRLS:

Middle Class neighborhoods:

Lauereles, Envigado, Sabeneta - These are safe for you to travel alone, and are a great alternative to Poblado.

Lower Class neighborhoods - ONLY GO DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS WITH ANOTHER WING!:

Centro,Robledo, Bello, Manrique, Boston

Any girl you meet at the aforementioned lower stratus barrios gives you a 90% chance of a SNL!!

Be careful, these are lower class neighborhoods, and as such you are at risk for a mugging if you stand out (and you will) - DO NOT GO THERE ALONE!!!!

Where to eat:

Walk down avenida Poblado, and you will find a casino called "Portafino" the best of the best in restaurants are here in this little plaza.

San Fernando Plaza has a cool Chinese and Italian Restaurant, and a Cafe Juan Valdez to sit and girl watch. Day game here is a MUST as Colombo English institute is there, and all girls want to practice their English with a native speaker. Care to teach a little English in exchange for ass?

Bars:

Parque Lleras - very safe, full of tourists and locals - great restaurants.

Younger crowds: Parque el poblado, right on avenida el poblado. Very young college crowd, but also a cockfest - so be aggressive and direct game will work best. Via las palmas. A club called La Kasa House, Circus and a few others here. Any taxi can take you. Try to close right there, or bounce to a new venue. Numbers mean nothing here - these girls flake 90% of the time.

Older crowds - Parque lleras has a mix of both

Enjoy Medellin. If you learn to work its system, you will find many gems to be had.

Thanks for the insight Mixx. SF Plaza sounds like a good place to stroll around. I'll definitely have to check out the restaurants in Portafino and the bars in Parque Lleras as well. How would someone approach the subject of scoring some small, recreational weight? Is it harder, easier or just as easy anywhere else? I don't want to look like a stupid tourist using the typical Medellin stereotype to be too straight forward about the whole thing.

So If im hearing you right MiXXmaster27 it doesn't matter what you look like( as long as your are not a burn victim) as long as you Spanish is tight you can game the females? Also by you having lived there can you tell the difference between ethnic gringos and ethnic natives?

Actually, in Medellin, you'll find many natural blond girls. It's known that if you want a blond Latina, Medellin is where you will find her, and she'll have the green eyes to match too (no, not contacts).

my last Medellin official girlfriend was a natural blond with gorgeous green eyes. I have brown eyes, so I prefer blue/green eyes. =)

Normally natural blond women in Medellin have green eyes w/o contacts of course.

Sorry man - I've never banged SNOW WHITE. She's not my type. However, I know for a fact she hangs around Mango's nightclub. It is Medellin's most popular (country style) nightclub, and its common that Delorian, Gambino, or Gotti go there 'cuz they love to ride the white horse when they drink.

Ask any waitress there you connect with - tip her well, and I'm certain she can find snow white for you in no time.

Well.......depends. You do have to dress well, have REALLY GOOD hygiene, and definitely have a personality she can connect with. No shorts - ever!!! Unless you are playing soccer at a field. In Brazil, this is normal - in Colombia, it is not.

Now, if you are a temporary passerby, then it depends on WHERE you are gaming; a metro city like Bogota, or a small town off the beaten path like Tolima?

The more metro the city, the more picky the women - that's kind of the observations I've made living in Colombia.

I can definitely tell the difference between foreign gringos, and natives - anyone can. The way you walk, dress, overall look and talk gives you away in seconds.
