Thanks for in the info amigo. I´ve been here a week and haven´t had too many problems with vos, although I still get the odd looks early on in convos. I definitely agree with your earlier contention that a true level of at least intermediate Spanish is needed for sustained success, along with regional seasoning. I didn’t realize how much vocab is local and therefore basically brand new to memorize/integrate.

Although a stroll down any side street in this town will give you enough motivation to do so. Admittedly I am not the most traveled fellow but I spent years in a major college town in addition to weeks in EE and Colombia. Seriously, Córdoba has more 7s than a slot machine factory. Throw in a nice dusting of 8s and some true stunners and every turn you make is like a scene from a womanizing genealogist´s wet dream.

As for game I´ve had a few spectacular blowouts but no fruit from daytime approaches, although most of the ladies are friendly with it. I´ve had better luck with Tinder and working on the seemingly steady flow of Brazilian women who come through the schoolhouse for a week or so a time.

Are there any locals in the area here? I could do with a wingman. Prob gonna check out Villa Carlos Paz this wknd but I´ll be in CBA for at least another few weeks. Suerte!

Interesting post. One little thing though, don't say Suerte to yourself like that, say instead something like: Ojala me vaya bien! A ver si tendre suerte pues

Also, can you confirm that age-difference is a massive hindrance, there? I mean, I don't think Student Uni chicks from Cordoba would give much love to you, as a late-30s man, or would they?

Thanks for the tip. In truth I've become such a parrot with repeating phrases and words in Spanish that it's easy to overlook their placement. Something similar happens when I read paragraphs aloud and focud too much on getting the pronounciation correct and I'm left having to reread it to comprehend. Guh!

As for the uni students I'll say in general you're correct. id like to think I can pass for early 30s, and combined with the right pitch it could work out well.. I get the feeling Arg women are open to living overseas/foreign men and there is an obvious affection for American culture here. its just getting to a confident and competent level with the language is the key, imo.

Do you stay in the area or in BsAs/Mendoza? I'm gonna hit those cities at some point.

Suerte is just a short and informal way of saying good luck to someone usually departing. E.g. something a friendly cab driver would say as you're getting out.

Cliff notes: Buenos Aires: Max acceptable age gap 6-10 years (less for the young ones). Friendly conversations and club make outs translate to actual results less than tenth as often as they do elsewhere. The younger they are the more they will waste your time just for the attention.

Based on a couple years in BsAs and dating women from various parts of the country, the language is essential (save the rare seasoned gringo hunter or lower quality) but social circle is also a lot more crucial than it is in other countries. Even if an Argentine girl is just hanging around a social circle comprised of mostly foreigners you have a massively better chance with her than a cold approach that goes very well.

I'd say 8-10 years is the maximum acceptable age gap in most scenarios with the strike zone closer to 4-6 year range for the younger ones. College aged girls often invite their girlfriends to your first date so they can help her judge you. If just one of her friends thinks you're too old or that your Spanish sucks you might be toast. Of course there are always extenuating circumstances, but if you're mid to late 30s and not living there long term or respected in her social circle I'd shoot for late twenties.

The friendliness of Argentine women in early conversation is incredibly misleading and doesn't reflect how insanely flaky and histerica they can be when you try to sleep with them. When I first got to BsAs I made out with dozens of women in the 7-8 range and thought I had found paradise. I later realized they are a huge pain in the ass to actually sleep with and while my efficiency and screening improved somewhat with fluent Spanish, it was still overall a time consuming chore to deal with them.
