I bet a lot more people would buy it. I want to read it, but not for $9.99.

Think about it.

Aloha!

I see your reasoning (cheaper means more sales) but the books has 468 jampacked pages and it takes quite a while to read. That justifies a higher price to me.

I wrote this book with travelers/backpackers in mind and can see how people take it with them on a trip and read it there.
Neil, the market you are targeting, is the reason you should bring the price down a bit. I don't have a problem forking out 10 dollars for it. But I'm sure you know what cheepskates those backpackers can be.

I agree that the price does seem a bit high. I think you could sell way more books if you dropped it by half. Of course, that's your choice. I think an accessible price combined with word of mouth should bring in good business. From there, other ideas can jump off.

I'll check it out once the edited edition comes out and I finish the book I'm currently reading.

Where can I find that sample mentioned earlier? I checked your site Neil and I couldn't find a link to read a bit of it.

That is a valid point.

$9.99 to a backpacker is like a weeks worth of food and hostels.

Maybe even a few giant bottles of water, some cargo shorts and Teva Sandals!

In all seriousness, at 500 pages, you could break it into 3 volumes.

Sell each one for $3.99.

1. You get more people reading your stuff.

2. You make more money if they read all three.

Win-Win.

I wouldn't drop the price. Almost 500 pages..10 bucks is fair.
If you dropped the price..I would only drop it to about 7 dollars at lowest.

Let some reviews on the book get out.
I haven't bought it since you mention you are editing it.
But If the people that already have it put out some worthwhile reviews..I don't see why you should drop the price that low.

I do agree with G on possibly breaking it up into volumes. Or sections.
Maybe even selling the 50 pages of game tips as a Single.
If a backpacker was really being cheap..He probably wont be carrying a laptop, kindle,or possibly even a android with a worthwhile screen to be reading
That means you would be carrying a thick book around.

I am the cock carousel

Am I the only one who got the real takeaway from this interaction?

Wealth does not purchase shit it is catered to. GManifesto has a ton of money yet he won't even be paying $10 for the book written by a hostel guy....

Remember guys, HIGH level thinking is never paying for shit. This is where you want to get to.

This is also why G can happily act alpha on the forum... He makes Roosh money as well.

Life is about handshakes and money always wins.

I don't get that. Actually I didn't understand your post at all.

I'm going to buy Neil's book on paper because I love his character on the forum even though I pick on him sometimes. I hope he makes lots of cash (for him) to get back on the road again traveling on the cheap.

I'll take a deeper look at the situation.

GManifesto makes a ton of money? Check
GManifesto can easily afford to pay $10 for the book? Check

GManifesto is not paying for it

Now lets look at why.

GManifesto will now help "feed" money to Neil by giving it a review on his said website. Neil now makes more money.

The takeaway I am alluding to is that Gmanifesto can afford to pay for it but doesnt even need to. This is the low-end but i'll divy up yet another situation.

You walk into bar with 5 hot girls.
Bartenders all see this they want to hook up with said hot girls.
Now bartenders stop charging you for drinks when you walk into said bar.
Now you reward them by inviting them out once to party with you with said girls.
Bartenders now love you because one of them slays one of said girls.
Now everytime you walk into said bar everyone gives you and whoever you are with free drinks.
Now everyone sees this happening and new girls want to know who you are.
Now you have more girls.
Now you take girls to bar two.....

Get it?

Well I am paying for it with time.

I have to read it and write it.

It would be way cheaper for me to just buy it.

The smart move is actually is on Neil's part.

He is the one spending money to make money.

But yeah.

Life is all about helping each other and giving.

No being a cheapskate and hoarding.

If you flow money, money flows back.

Anyways, that is how I look at life.

Good point WestCoast, but would you be saying that if Neil priced his book at $0.09 instead of $9.99? I agree with your principle, but $10 is an inconsequential amount of money and not even worth worrying about (unless you're a poor backpacker).

I'll be buying it after the edits come, but I do think G had a good idea of splitting it up into multiple parts.

Poor backpackers are only poor when they are backpacking not when they are at moms house waiting to be poor backpackers again.

This is why the price has got to come down.

When the poor backpackers are talking they gotta keep appearances up that they are poor. If two backpackers were talking they'd say "dude did you read that Neil Skywalker book?" Then the other one would say "No, bro, it's ten bucks."

But If it's $4.99 they'd say "Hell yeah, bro, I got it on my iPad."

See the logic?

or more here :
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/171898 This is the ebook version so it reads a bit funny since its a compressed ebook format.

Mind you, the first part of my book is a bit boring. I left home as a beta dude.

Thanks for buying. Did you buy a paperback or ebook. If it's a ebook i can hook you up with a newer version.

I thought long and hard about splitting up the book in 3 parts and have 3 x 300 pages version. It would give me the chance to go deeper into a lot of things and probably deliver a more detailed bookset. First problem is that would take a hell of a lot more time and i already have 5 months in this. Second problem with this is that the first book would be boring for people who expect lots of banging stories. The first part of the book is just less interesting because I was still a nice beta dude at the start of my trip. People would not buy the following parts if the first one didn't deliver the fun they expected. Third problem is that people are not gonna put three books in there backpacks.

I always wanted to write a book one day. I can now say i'm a published author for the rest of my life. I really need to get on with my life now and find a job.Its a prestige project for myself. If I started working straight after I returned home I could have mad enough money to be dancing reggeaton again with some hot latina.

About backpackers. There are actually 3 or even 4 types of backpackers. I'll explain the male version since its less likely for girls to buy my book.

Type 1 - The eco warrior. Walks around in linen pants, has a beard, not interested in my book at all because they can't get a girl if their life depended on it. These are also the cheapest people. The ultra hagglers.

Type 2 - The regular backpacker. Usually travels with a girlfriend. mostly interested in sight seeing and drinking a few beers. Small market for me.

Type 3 - Similar to type 2. regular backpacker but also into going out, getting an occasional hostel lay and maybe even a local girl. Beta dudes but the prime market market for me.

Type 4 - flashpackers, travellers with money to burn, travel with lots of electronics and usually a suitcase. good market for me.

Most backpackers are not that cheap and still spend money on books. 9 out of 10 backpackers has a book in his backpack.

My new book Famles - Fables and Fairytales for Men is out now on Amazon.
