I'm with you. This is crazy. Who gives a shit about goats? We eat them and milk them, who cares if one guy wants to sacrifice them?
Animal rights are bullshit.

What is the philosophical justification for animals having less rights then humans? Can you not apply the same standard to humans and say that people with less mental capacity deserve less rights than humans with higher capacity? Once we know how much genetics affects intelligence, it will be harder to justify abrogating animal rights when we continue to assert that all humans deserve the same rights.

I don't give a flying fuck about animals. We eat them. Unless it's someone's pet, it's fair game.

The Michael Vick case really brought so much of this to the surface. It gave the PETA freaks another platform to get themselves in the papers and on the news. Yes, what Vick and his boys did was kind of sick, but there are backwoods redneck types that are fighting dogs RIGHT NOW. In fact, southern states have special law enforcement units dedicated to dogfighting. All they do is patrol the woods looking for dog-fighting camps. But yet Michael Vick, because he's a famous athlete, get to be the face of dogfighting? PLEASE. It's incredible how SO MUCH PASSION from the public was directed at him and this case, because of some dogs, yet where is all of this when certain human beings die horribly? You hear people say they can NEVER forgive Vick, that all he'll ever be is a dog killer. Whatever. People also fail to acknowledge that Vick had PET dogs too, dogs that were always with him, even at the Falcons' facility, and played with his children. Vick did his time (and trust me...he didn't do time because of animal cruelty. The government went after him because he funded a GAMBLING enterprise), so I care more about Vick as a human being than I do about some dead dogs. I've had pets my whole life. My mom has a couple of cute dogs right now that I play with. Your pets become part of your family. I get it. But I'll never care more about animals than I do about another human.

It's also odd how this kind of passion isn't raised for the killing of other animals. Like thoroughbred horses. The glue factory isn't a myth. When a horse doesn't win, its brutally slaughtered. It's against the law to slaughter horses in the US, so the companies that buy the horses truck them to Mexico, where they're auctioned off and subsequently slaughtered for meat. And they aren't put down humanely either. "Real Sports" did a piece on this, and had graphic footage. One methods was to simply shoot it in the head with a shotgun. Another was for a guy to attempt to sever the spinal cord, behind the neck, with a knife. Since a horse has a long neck and is moving around a lot, the guy kept stabbing it but missing the spine. Finally he hit the mark and the horse dropped. It's then strung up and its throat slit while still alive, to bleed out. Why aren't people up in arms about this? Why isn't PETA picketing race tracks nationwide? There isn't enough press attention in it, that's why. As brutal as that is, every part of that horse gets consumed or used in some way. The same with bulls killed in bullfights. Folks are squeamish about how the animal died - for sport and entertainment. But EVERY part of that bull is eaten and used. In Mexico, the food stands right outside the arena are cooking and selling the bull that died the day before, from the neck to the nuts (criadillas). In Peru, they eat guinea pigs, which for us are cute little pets. In other parts of the world, dogs and cats are food. Don't get me wrong...I'm not ADVOCATING animal cruelty, but we can't be so selective.

I think part of the issue with this porn star is how and where he was keeping these animals. There are certain laws about how or if you can keep livestock animals in city limits. There are health laws regarding the slaughter of animals (it has to be done in a facility meets certain standards). So be it for santeria (which I'm sure law enforcement wasn't crazy about) or for food, keeping them in a hot van and subsequently slitting their throats wasn't lawful. Should his bond have been set THAT high for it? Nah. That was because of their disapproval of what he does for a living, and WHY he was going to kill these animals.
