I like Mad Men as I am trying to channel my inner Don Draper as just being stoic isn't enough. Trying to pick up some mannerisms that fit my personality.

Lol, Roosh, I'm curious how your night went after watching Louie. That show is absolutely the most creative comedy i've seen in a while, simply because it blends tragedy and despair so well. After90% of those episode the last thing i feel is social because so many of them are so sad.

As for the cool, social, "hype" shows - The League is excellent, especially if you're into more offensive humor. One guy on the show describes himself as looking like a nazi caricature of a jew.

I could barely make it through the first episode of The League. Not just because I don't care for fantasy football, but I just can't take another show about schlubby white suburban guys struggling to assert some hanging shred of masculinity against the work-wife-kids pressure of cookie cutter First World Problem American white collar lifestyle.

Favorite episode ever is the one where Newman goes to take the truckful of bottles to Michigan for their ten cent deposit. Hilarious.

The only Seinfeld substitute I've found is Californication.

Larry David show: annoying as hell
Louie: beta as hell
Mad Men: doesn't put me in talkative state

Game of Thrones is okay, but it gets me too pensive.

Agree with you there. FF is something I care nothing about, and the stench of beta permeated everything those guys did. It always felt like they lived their lives on some kind of leash.

Sweet, I'm going to have to try this. Usually I go out and run solo game and it's really hard for me to find something that puts me in a sociable mood. There really aren't any sitcoms that are actually funny, and stuff like Sopranos and Mad Med just kind of leave me in a weird mood. Also, on suggestion by a friend, I tried watching How I Met your Mother, but honest to god that show is the most beta thing I've ever seen. NPH plays a guy who's way to annoying to be alpha and the main dude must have gotten a fatal dosage of estrogen poisoning right before the first season, all I've seen on there is "marriage is great" propaganda.

Notice his slow gait expresses his confidence, as opposed to his normally-manic mannerisms:

I understand how Roosh might find Mad Men somnolent before going out, but for me personally it helps buff up my stoic, brooding mood, esp if I'm rocking a suit and hat. I've also found that chicks LOVE talking about Mad Men, and it's OK for me to have seen all the episodes and chat with them about it (unlike say Sex and the City, which I haven't seen and wouldn't reveal to girls if I had.)

Good chick-crack question: if you could be any Mad Men character male or female for a day who would it be? You can then tease her by bringing up the character's flaws. (Maybe you tell them their choice reveals what vice they wish they could indulge in. I've heard more than one woman say she wanted to cop Don Draper's man-whore style.)

The common denominator between Seinfeld, Californication, and Mad Men is that devil-may-care attitude.

Nah. Eric tried to push up on a girl I was dating and failed, despite his fame, because he's beta as fuck. That show is for potheads and retards.

- Arrested Development is just fantastic, but it doesn't give me a confidence boost.
- Seinfeld makes me feel good. It really makes me want to have fun, because I'm already having fun watching it.
- Curb your enthusiasm, I think, is funny, but the constant arguments and mistakes with women do not up my mood.
- Ted Danson in Bored to Death is a pretty good alpha role model for me, he's up for anything and does nothing he doesn't like.

True. I love AD but it's more deprecating humor – you're laughing AT the characters, not with them. Seinfeld's MO is more about poking fun at an absurd world, which is a much better mindset for pick-up humor.

I've followed this to the next logical step - I listen to standup comedy albums on my way to a venue. Yes, Seinfeld is great, but sometimes the mood can be brought down between turning off the TV (or laptop) and arriving at the venue, especially if you live far away.

Some favorites:
Amy Schumer - Cutting. In my opinion Amy Schumer is the strongest comedienne out there right now and has the perfect album to listen to before going out in America. She gives you a good, realistic look at the modern female, hamster and all, while making well timed remarks that every bar chick wishes she could when she says she's "fluent in sarcasm". Highly recommended

Anthony Jeselnik - Shakespeare. This album is pure douchebaggery and swagger condensed to an hour. He doesn't tell stories, he doesn't self deprecate, he just lays down pure insulting and dirty fire. He is unshakable. Surprisingly his swagger piped Amy Schumer's hamster awareness for 2 years.

Pretty much anything by Doug Benson - The man is a proud, unshakable stoner, and his affinity for weed makes him relaxed and observant, while controlling the crowd masterfully without effort. If your game involves relaxation and observation, his albums are the perfect way for you to get in the mood

I've just started watching Seinfeld. I think I've only seen one or two episodes before this, but its amazing how all of the situations and comedy carries over to modern day. Hell they even had a scientology joke. Definitely gonna throw some on when I get ready to go out.

Wow, I know Seinfeld is considered kind of old now, but it's "amazing" that something 15-20 years old is still relevant?

I guess when I was under 25 I felt the same way.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

I dunno I've tried watching Seinfeld and maybe it works for some guys but personally Californication gets me in the perfect state. The only thing is you have to stray away from the serious episodes and try to watch the ones in which he fucks girls. Any episode in seasons 2-3 are pretty good to watch before you go out, except the last in Season 3.
