Has anyone else been mixing ACV with a little bit of baking soda/water mixture to neutralize the pH level?

I'm just worried about the vinegar's effect on my teeth, I already have weak enamel on those bad boys

I think adding baking soda would defeat the purpose of taking the ACV, the acidity along with the proteins in the "mother" are key.

Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water after taking it. Its not like you're swishing it around in your mouth and its not like its going to dissolve your teeth instantaneously.

So I stumbled across this forum last night and I have been in non-stop sponge mode reading all types of good information (I def need it). I wanted to say how amazing it is to see so many people being positive and trying to help each other. Needless to say tomorrow I will be picking myself up a bottle of Braggs ACV, which I'm sure will be the 1st of many smart decisions I make due to this forum.

One question I do have, some people mentioned drinking coffee in addition to taking ACV but has anyone stopped drinking coffee completely due to the ACV energy levels? I am currently a heavy coffee drinker, 4+ cups a day, and I would like to severely lower or eliminate my coffee intake. I've tried green tea over a couple weeks time period in the past but I didn't feel like I was getting enough energy boost.

I just started on ACV this morning after reading this thread. Really interesting because it sounds like (especially with the mother) a concentrated version of the hippie fermented tea Kombucha.

The Kobmucha concept is that the acidity or alkalinity (whichever it is) kills all of the crap in your body and aids in digestion while the probiotic bacteria that can survive in that stuff and ferments it (see "The Mother" aka The SCOBY aka bacteria and yeast culture) establishes in your digestive tract once the acidic Armageddon is over.

If it is the same concept:
Kombucha vs. ACV pros are: Tastes alot better, you can make it at home

Kombucha vs. ACV cons are: You need to drink alot more

add effects note: Between the taking of ACV and writing this post my body sounded the 'mega dump now' alarm

Just made my first plunge 10 minutes ago...wow. I immediately returned a missed call from a client that wasn't going to be pleasant and nailed it. I went from 3 hours of sleep and haggard to rico suave.

Two questions...
*took it straight, two caps full...too much? Also swished with water and then downed a half glass after.
*I bought the organic, Trader Joe's version. Is pasteurized a problem? Bragg's better way to go?

Next up is a cold shower before going out...

I just got a bottle of Bragg's too. This s--- better work because now I smell like someone should be using me to dye easter eggs.

Just kidding. Thanks fellas' for the tip...great thread and looking forward to the experiment. (actually come to think of it I better move this bottle off my desk before some RVF lurker involuntarily outs me at work...)

I have a new ACV that I bought with the mother. I bought a big bottle of Braggs but I don't feel as energetic, I think the mother was missing.

So I bought one with the mother now and will test.

Just bought this stuff along with numerous other health changes.

1. ACV 2 shots a day
2. 2 caps fish oil, 1 multi-vitamin
3. Green tea instead of coffee
4. Skin care product from a salon
5. Creatine cycling now
6. 2 hour workouts 6 days a week

Hopefully I'll still look young 10 yrs from now when I'm living the same lifestyle! Don't want to blow up MikeCF's inbox but I've tried and tested his advise and it has worked.

Okay the new ACV I bought, has me cooking like Bruce Lee. I am so wired on energy, I feel like climbing the walls. The mistake I made with the Braggs I bought before is that it didn't have any visible mother in it and so it didn't strike the way it normally does.

Tip for noobs: Always make sure you can see the floating mother before purchase.

So it took me 9 days to go through the 32oz bottle and I have to say I'm a believer. I took a shot of it diluted in water with honey the night I got it and the next morning I felt as though I could already feel the effects. I felt / feel great, I equate it to the feeling after doing a yoga session or meditation, but throughout the day for the most part. I feel more focused and "on" but also calmer. I would definitely recommend taking it with equal parts OJ.

One thing about this is although I think my skin probably looks better it does dry out my skin a lot more. Especially my face, to the point where I have irritation at the corners of my mouth. It is also possible this is the result of my toothpaste getting on my face while brushing my teeth after shaving (I could feel it burning a bit).

Also in 9 days I have drank the same amount of coffee as I had been drinking in 1 day, I just don't really feel like I need coffee anymore.

I just picked up the gallon jug today.

Moma, what are you referring to with the "floating mother"? I was under the impression that the residue on the bottom of the bottle is what you should be looking for.

You are right. The mother is the residue. I thought that they include it in all Braggs but the big bottle I bought, has no mother in it so when I sip it, I don't have energy.

But I bought a new Canadian brand and actively looked out for the residue (mother). Sipped two tablespoons this morning with my oats and now I am so cooked, I could fcuk a brick wall with no lube.

Haha.

I've gotten Bragg's both times, 32oz + 128oz, and I feel like this new 128oz might have a little more pep to it... This 128oz had the residue CAKED on the bottom, might be something to pay attention to.

Not sold on the health benefits of ACV, but that stuff is great for catching fruit flies. 2 tablespoons of ACV in a very small bowl, then a drop of dish soap to break up the surface tension (so the flies cannot land on the surface of the liquid, and, instead, sink right into it). Place near fruits you've got stored out on kitchen counter.

2 days later, here's how it fared. 27 flies.

I started taking this about 2 months ago on a daily basis and have noticed a considerable reduction in my heart burn problem, I've been eating antacids like tums and rolaids for years but haven't taken nearly as much lately, good stuff!

I think I stated earlier that ACV is magic in a bottle. If you are not seeing immediate results that means you are not taking in enough on a daily basis. I'm up to 1/3 cup a day (diluted). Taking even more has greater benefits.
