Scorpion, is there a way to ease into those core compound excercises? I had a slipped disc last year.

For the most part you can replace any free weight exercise with a machine variation to support your back.

For peak performance it isn't as good [As it doesn't recruit the stabiliser muscles] but in terms of providing enough resistance for hypertrophy it will be more than adequate.

Leg Press can replace squats. Seated dumbbell press will support your back more than the standing variation. Your typical bench press will still be okay. I wouldn't touch the deadlift without guidance/clearance from a physio. You need to ensure your core/supporting muscles are strong enough to safely perform the movement.

Get a big quality powerlifting belt, strap it on super tight, and avoid too-high weight loads.

A witty comeback is a temporary measure. You really need to bulk up.

I've had similar experiences to Rush87 and Scorpion. When I was 18 I was 6ft (182cm) tall and 140lb (63kg). I got the 'wow you're so skinny' from girls all the time. I adapted to it by dressing in an an indie way, having snappy comebacks etc but it was always an uphill battle both gaming girls and talking to guys at parties/bars. There'd always be some wiseass with no game making a skinny joke if they saw me getting on well with a girl, AMOGGing and shittests were rife etc.

I spent the best part of 6 years doing serious weight training, and eating 4000calories a day during bulking phases, and eventually hit 220lb (100kg) at the same height, at around a maintenance bodyfat of 12%. Since then I've maintained that.

Once I reached a 'normal' weight of around 170-190lb I no longer found things an uphill battle - I never had to fight to overcome that bias against skinniness from both guys and girls. Once I hit 200-220lbs things changed massively. It was now a downhill battle.

Since then I've put pretty much zero effort into what I wear, and far less effort into even bothering trying to chat up girls. Once you reach a certain size drunk girls really do just tend to throw themselves at you as long as you're average looking facially - my pop psychology take on it would be it triggers something primal in them once they're drunk enough. Kinda like with guys around strippers: you don't really notice the face if the body is good enough when you're drunk, as long as its not noticeably awful.

Aside from girls I also find guys in social settings are completely different. They in general treat you like you're someone deserves respect, without knowing a thing about you other than what you look like. Its basically the difference between guys treating you like their younger sibling (when skinny), and their father (when built), in terms of respect.

Its a long road but there is no excuse for anyone not to do it. Nobody 'cant gain weight'. Skinny guys who say this are the exact same as fat girls who say they're just 'built that way' as an excuse. Some people just gain weight harder than others. If you're eating 4000 calories a day and working out 4 days a week you WILL gain weight, this is a certainty. Keep this up for long enough and you'll get results that will change your life.

I've been seeing a lot of body image threads under game.

Look, game and social dynamics are important to understand. I learned how to seduce women first when in college. Then when I hit the real world, I realized that my 155lbs 6ft self wasn't going to cut it anymore. The quality of women around me started to decline because I looked too skinny.

Now i'm lean and have been putting on muscle. I'm around 180lbs at 13% body fat. There's a little definition, but I definitely don't look bleh without a shirt on.

Nowadays my posture, attitude, and overall set of looks are opening doors for me. I put in way less effort with game, women shit test me waaay less, and i'm able to get men around me to do what I want out of sheer respect.

If you're skinny and say you can't gain weight, then do this. Drink whole milk as your liquid of choice for an entire month. Aim for at least a gallon of milk a week. Guarantee you'll pack on weight.

soup, I think you've said that you're a musician and game a lot of hipster girls, so your look might be optimized for that niche. Putting on more muscle would certainly expand your options, though.

If you are banging 64 girls a year already though I don't think you really need to change anything up, unless you feel like you're having issues with quality.

I'm losing my hair and think it would be better to be a bit more buff if I shave it off.

I want to want to build muscle because I'm curious to see for myself if the kinds of things you have mentioned here are real. Growing up, I was always skinny, and physically not as athletic as other guys. It was natural for me to become the artist instead of a jock.

I do lift some almost every day. It's taking a long time to see improvement. Any that is there is slight for sure. I guess I'm a hardgainer. Maybe it has to do with being vegetarian.

One of my life goals is to experience myself at my full potential. I don't believe I've reached the height of my power yet. I definitely want more quality and consistency on all fronts, and I feel that I need to get better.

Soup do starting strength. You can buy the book or get the free ebook on Piratebay. There's also a pretty good write up on the bodybuilding forums. Starting Strength is all you need as a beginner, it will build a great foundation for your physique

I guarantee you you will put on 10 lbs in the first months if you consistently eat enough(like 3500 calories).
I was 6' and 130 lbs when I started..I put on 15 lbs of muscle in one month!!! while training 3 times a week.
There's no such thing as hardgainers, everyone can put on mass. You just have to eat and lift heavy

When I was skinny I never had problems with girls though. When you have a sense of humour, decent facial asthetics, dress well and are confident you can pull girls even while you're skinny. My legs used to be like twigs, same goes for my arms, I literally had no muscle but I still got laid. You just need to find your personal look and rock it

Hang on, are you switching muscle groups? Do arms/back/chest on day 1/3/5/ and legs and shoulders on days 2/4/6. You need to give each muscle groups 48 hours to rebuild otherwise you are just shooting yourself in the foot. Are you doing any sort of lifting program or just going to the gym every day and lifting on the bench press and biceps?
