I keep reading here and on ROK about this lifestyle.
I didn't watch this series when it aired here, in Romania so I am asking you: what kind of lifestyle is it and why is it so bad for women?
Thanks

The show followed a group of rich white career women in their 30's as they slept their way around Manhattan while trying to land rich husbands. The idea is that it became so popular it encouraged a lot of women to do the same. It's kind of outdated now though because it first came out 20 years ago. Young women these days will have heard of it but most haven't seen it. The show became mainstream but then the idea of a whole show based around talking about and chasing rich men starting seeming unfeminist. Sex and the City was basically a fantasy for women but in today's economy and more SJW world the show doesn't fit with the times anymore.
They say today's version is Lena Dunham's Girls which is set in Brooklyn and follows a group of broke hipsters straight out of college, but it never achieved the same level of popularity.

As I recall, the lifestyle depicted in the series was totally at odds with financial reality. Guys my age are still dealing with the aftermath, as even now, women who grew up with the show have completely unrealistic expectations of life, and prospective partners, as a result.

I never understood that show. They don't work but they keep going to Michelin star restaurants
I don't know what that happens in real life but I do like Samantha.

It was a lame show that glorified the lifestyle of a bunch of single skanks in NYC who've taken more loads than a Maytag and encouraged a generation of women to do the same.

The show operated under one enormously false premise - that handsome, successful "marriageable" men in their 30s or 40s would desire wrinkly, dried-up career women of similar age who've had miles of dick. In reality, such men (especially in New York) would have no trouble coupling up with 18-24 year old hotties

Its still very real, and most of the single women in this demo, 28-40, all have watched the series. They are all still trying to live up to that idea. Funny enough the entire series was written, directed and produced by a gay man. The whole series was a mens fantasy about women in Manhattan. The HBO show Girls may appeal more towards hipster girls, actual professional women aren't that into it.
Fixed it for you.

My understanding is the show was even more popular among gay men then it was among women.

For real though Carrie is a columnist. The other 3 all have jobs and backrounds which can clearly support their lifestyles.
Bitch was mooching off of everyone for the bill at these restaurants and flying to Dubai to afford those stupid Mohalo Blanks she's always whining about.
I had an ex girlfriend who was really into the show. If I recall correctly, our God emperor had a cameo in it.
I was living in Manhattan as well 10 years ago when show was in air. I've been to almost all of the restaurants that they were in on the show. Each person is like $200 per person in there. I was able to go like once a month or twice but all they did was swining one Michelin star restaurant to another. Plus, they had a place in West Village where I was living too.
I mean, not a lot of single women had that lifestyle in Manhattan. I'm saying single, there are some women who are married to rich sugar daddies. Those are exception.
On that show, a lot of them were shot at Rao, Sushi Samba, Per Se, Nobu etc.

Zanardi, look for some clips of the show on youtube.
Its much more than the dry facts of sleeping around. The show took a newly born Manhattan "attitude" and popularized it all over the world. The snark, the we only need men when it is convenient attitude, the true birth of the
Nasty Woman was depicted in this show.
It was social engineering at its finest and DAMAGED a generation of women now even more unhappy in real life than the fiction predicted.

Sex and the City just glamourised it, it didn't create what we see in Western metropolitan areas. It doesn't take a genius to point out the hundreds of thousands of men and women in close proximity, many single and with time to kill.
Women were always hypergamous and the city makes it worse because they see the men they could lust after. Men saw the legions of young, hot women and wanted to fuck them. Live in the suburbs or small town of any country then live in the cities there and tell me how many women you'd want to fuck there and then.
My only problem with S&C was its glamourising of the degenerate soul crushing city life women indulge in and makes them feel their shit is worth gold when they're a Plain Jane.. It makes me laugh when Tinder is blamed for shit these days when its human behaviour being put on show for every dick and fanny to observe and participate in.

Let me guess: in reality, that lifestyle is unsustainable long term, right?
You need to make clean $20,000 a month if you want that lifestyle.
All 4 girls go out to Michelin star restaurants on the show, plus designer bags+shoes, plus living in West Village.
You can't go to Per Se or Nobu if you're not to pay $200 per person for dinner.

I always found ridiculous the idea that women are showing how independent they are - and how they don't need men - by talking about men all episode, every episode.
If you really want a shit-show, watch the movies. I still roll out the time we saw them at the cinema to wind up my wife. She liked the show but not the movies.
