It's funny how I see americans so much more worried with the immigration issue than Europeans themselves. And with such radical fashion too. I presume Europe will turn into some sort of caliphate within the next 10 years because of these boat people.
I'm European, not American, and I'm worried about this issue

The approach is different regarding each groups. Syrian refugees are looked at in a more ...let's say, compassionate light.

I must be getting grumpier and less tolerant with age but even though I do feel bad for their situation and wish their country wasn't the mess it is I still don't want to see all these Syrians in Europe.

Well your flag [Image: wink.gif]

Europeans are worried about the issue too. Surely. But the catastrophic visions I see here almost always come from non Europeans.

"All these"?

"An estimated 9 million Syrians have fled their homes since the outbreak of civil war in March 2011, taking refuge in neighbouring countries or within Syria itself. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), over 3 million have fled to Syria's immediate neighbours Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. 6.5 million are internally displaced within Syria. Meanwhile, under 150,000 Syrians have declared asylum in the European Union, while member states have pledged to resettle a further 33,000 Syrians. The vast majority of these resettlement spots – 28,500 or 85% – are pledged by Germany."

Granted, the number will surely rise this year.

"You" don't want?! Why? Under what argument? Is Europe yours? Some will say these "Syrians" will be useless to "us". I ask, what is your use to this imaginairy "us"?!

Hu? Of course this is simply my own personal view and in no way I can change whatever is happening, I'm just giving my opinion on the matter, so since when saying that I don't want to see them there means Europe is mine? I can also ask you the same thing, under what argument do you want to let them in?

The burden of proof is on you. Simple. And you still have provided no argument, why would you be against the entrance of Syrians, are you also against the entrance of all the other non-europeans? Because Syrians are a drop in the ocean if you compare to other migrants, why would you be opposed to their entrance and not to the entrance and permanence of dozens of other groups that are more represented than Syrians. You know , when you present an opinion it's also supposed to have some sort of argument.

Burden of proof?

I'm supposed to present an argument?

Do you think you're in a philosophy class? I'm simply sharing my opinion, I do not like what is happening in Europe, that's it. Sure I could write a huge dissertation about my reasons but I would do it if I felt like it, not because you're demanding it.

Presenting reasons and arguments as to why we don't like something and why it should not be this way is an important part of any serious discussion. But then again many here fling around ideological imprints recklessly and group-think logic gets them their own sort of groupies. In terms of these issues it's not at all a good place, too many underlying complexes to accomodate...

And what would that "chip on my shoulder" be. The categorization of "millenial libertarian" is another interesting sweeping generalization.

Also, your commentary is irrelevant, there's no argument there too. I mostly argue for the sake or arguing. Syrians coming or not to Europe doesn't affect me in the slightest. But most have no logical reason to reject them other than the fear of the "Other".

I've never denied being one. But I'm honored you took the time to stalk me [Image: biggrin.gif] . It is a sweeping generalization because you refer to it as an implicit negative trait. Simple. And what is the problem of arguments? Isn't that what the forum is for, too? I've never had a single warning based on arguments I have had here, with anyone. Arguing is good, even if you don't really agree with the cause you're defending. People could assume I'm "pro-immigration" when in fact I care very little about it. But I dislike seeing catastrophic and often ludicrous predictions being presented with NO DATA, NO SOURCES, NO METHOD. Mostly by simply appealing to the binary "us vs them" and the usage of archaic international relations terms which have since evolved since the world is less and less "black and white".

I don't have the right to say x person should be "compassionate" on my behalf and pay for any kind of support to these people. I don't even defend this kind of economic model nor the "welfare state". But this can be extended to all aspects of taxation and further redistrubition. And there's also the assumption that these immigrants won't "give back". In my country immigrants have a positive balance of 300 million euros in terms of what they give and take. This is a place for serious discussion and it bothers me to see that the arguments used are often those appealing to fear of what is different because it is different. But then again I suppose appealing to our primal side instills more vigorous and numerous action, acceptance and followers.

Oh no, a 'sweeping generalisation'. [Image: tard.gif]

Generalisations, or more accurately, the ability to see and understand trends, is what makes us difference from the average feminist or angry liberal. Next time if I'm accused of making a 'sweeping generalisation' I will just say 'yes I am and?'

We see trends in populations and the world and then we figure out the best course of action.

The average liberal kind of sees of hears about trends in populations, but quickly thinks 'no wait not all women/immigrants/whatever are like that'.

Then they try their best to ignore that, and even actively try to hide it by bringing up examples of someone who is the complete opposite of that stereotype.

They also use the racism or whatever ism word to stop you talking about it. They will start government funded campaigns to try and change the results of what they see. All of these people can't accept reality.

Most people here at RVF are realists rather than idealists, we see things as they are, not how they should be.

This is why I don't respect liberals, they still haven't grown up and seen people and the world for what it is and would rather shut their eyes and yell about how it should be.

Let's not pander to these reality deniers, if they can't accept generalisations, thats their problem.

I'm not a liberal nor an idealist. Your comment is irrelevant. Claiming to own reality is pretentious especially when that claim is supported by no credible argument other than attacking a position I do not adhere or claim to adhere. Irrelevant.

The "illegal immigrants coming to Europe" do not affect him "in the slightest", because, to begin with, he can fight multiple adversaries at the same time. Maybe he can fight 250.000 Syrians, little-dark style?

Seriously though, people who say, Those millions of illegals coming to Europe don't bother me "in the slightest", say that... until some hundreds of Gypsies (or, God help them, sub-Saharans), masquerading as Syrians (or Erythreans)[Image: dodgy.gif], settle in their neighborhood[Image: angry.gif][Image: huh.gif].

Then, the leftists cry rivers of sour tears, but it's too late: their property (house, apartment) has no value left! And they can kiss their quality of life good-bye.

Easy to be cool and tolerant when the illegals are far away; but when they come to live in your neighborhood, wow, everything changes...

My neighbourhood has tons of african immigrants. They outnumber whites. Why should I care?

And I never said "those millions of illegals". Oh, and I have gypsies living within 1km of my neighbourhood. Do I like gypsies? Not really. Do I care much about their presence? Not really.

You should be careful with such hasty assumptions...

And the fear of the "Other" has been manifested once again. The usual retort to deviations from group-think here is also either mockery, false analogies, hypothetic situations and misrepresented arguments. Amazing [Image: biggrin.gif]

Also, part of the reason you're offended by the millenial label, is because it has an element of truth to it. If someone called you a green alien you wouldn't be offended because it has no truth to it.

I'm technically a millenial, 26, but I feel so different from that stereotype, I'd laugh if that was used towards me, unless they were serious, then I'd wonder where I went wrong.

That's not an argument too. I don't care simply because they do not affect me. If someone affects my life negatively it is irrelevant for me whether they are an immigrant or not. I CARE about things. But not these, I'm not insecure and having people with different melanin near me is unimportant.

If you let these people stay, that will send the message to everyone else that they'll get to stay too. It's precisely what happened here in the mid-80's. There was an amnesty to the 2 million illegals here at the time and that was supposed to end illegal immigration. What happened? An exponential amount more came. Why? They had an incentive to come because they knew they'd get amnesty. Lo and behold, that's exactly what the left and the cucks want to do again.

It might not affect you now, but when your culture is overrun by third worlders you might think differently. I know libertarians don't think culture is relevant, so it might escape you, but you'll learn eventually.

What makes the libertarian stance on immigration so hilarious is that these people are decidedly un-libertarian, and when they are able to assert themselves you can kiss your libertarian society goodbye.

The libertarian stance on immigration? You are aware there are several, right? "When my country is overrun by third world illegals"... You are assuming that will happen, that doesn't mean it will. And who tells you I do not think culture is relevant? You are assuming certain things I have not confirmed. When you speak about incentives you ignore the economic incentives too while highlighting the social ones. I live in no libertarian society nor do I have any particular wish for my society to become libertarian. I'm more interested in my own "secession", so to speak.

What is it with people and assumptions today... And in the spirit of libertarianism you can check what Hoppe says about open borders. Do not paint all libertarians with the same brush. It's wrong.

You can't tell a great deal of things. I've noticed. But you never lack assumptions. How very millenial of you.

LOL even your insults sound like something a woman would say. You clearly have been raised as a girl like a large amount of millenial males.

I can't tell a great deal of things... says the bitch who can't tell how immigrants 'simply don't affect me' LOL

It indirectly effects everything, schools, houses, jobs, community, culture, wages. But I'm not gonna go over all that for a bitch who's too stupid to understand.

It's always the stupid ones who try and fail at using big words, you're not fooling anyone.

And there you go getting upset over generalisations again "Dont paint all libertarians under the same brush. its wrong. wah". Refer back to my post for why they are useful, and not 'wrong' especially at RVF.

That is still not an argument. You saying so does not make it so. And you're already in the irrelevant bin and unlikely to come out so feel free to continue replying if you want to be ignored.
