Man, fuck rioters. I was in LA during during '92. I remember being in high school and hearing kids boasting about fucking shit up. It didn't even have anything to do with Rodney King. They were just taking advantage of the pandemonium to cause wanton destruction during a time they could get away with it with minimal risk of getting caught. It's like they want to trash shit just for thrill of it. I witnessed that with my own eyes. I even saw a group of them go to a department store nearby after school and try to start a riot there and even started fighting some customers coming out of the store who were minding their business. The cops came and they got arrested. What's scary about things like this is that it shows how our country is really on thin ice. Just how much pent up rage is under the surface ready to explode at any time. Everything could seem peaceful one day and all it takes is a single incident for the avalanche to break loose and turn American streets into Gaza City.

I truly hate this shit. Real social change comes through hard work, organization and long-term commitment. What these assholes are doing is really is unraveling the social fabric of this country and ensuring that the inner city remains poor and disenfranchised. Who in their right mind wants to invest in places like this when you know your business could be burned to the ground during the next police incident, that you or your business had nothing to do with.

And I'll wait for the outrage considering these were over sporting events and these rioters happened to be of a different hue.....still waiting [Image: confused.gif]

Shit, I remember when the University of Maryland rioted because we WON. Dumbass students breaking shit at OUR OWN SCHOOL.

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

The difference is that nobody tried to paint those riots as some sort of noble crusade. You did not have the media wringing their hands about how its so understandable and justified.

And yet they all live in NYC. They obviously benefit from the security the NYPD provides, and would hate if they were in a cafe with their iPhone and MacBook and someone threw a brick through the glass and stole their shit. Yet they just aren't happy about actually seeing what goes into preventing that. Like a person who eats meat but doesn't want to see an animal be killed.

Yeah, because no one lived in NYC before stop and frisk. I heard the police also built all the skyscrapers there too.

I'm watching CNN's live coverage right now. The pundit-erati are talking about things like this haven't been seen since the race riots of the 1960s. The way they're making it sound, it's like all of inner-city Baltimore is on fire.

You're seeing images of fires being lit to bait police and firefighters into confrontations, cat-and-mouse games with law enforcement, riot police coming under attack with rocks and bricks and Molotov cocktails - images like you'd see in Cairo or Tunis or Baghdad.

Listening to all the controversy about the militarization of American law enforcement, all I can think is that it looks like these neighbourhoods are so far gone that they might need that equipment to keep these areas from devolving into full anarchy. With U.S. cities being awash with easily accessible weaponry you could see gangs like the Crips or Bloods turning into full-scale insurgent groups.

And it s not like this is limited to one U.S. city. This could happen anywhere and everywhere.

Hearing on CNN now that over 5,000 National Guard troops have been deployed. Goddamn. It's like the 1992 LA riots all over again.

This 'riot' is pretty weak. 2 burning cars does not a riot make.

They really hyped up the alliance between bloods and crips like this was going to turn into a large scale skirmish.
A couple liqour stores have been looted and rocks thrown but thats basically it.

Baltimore is huge, maybe 2 intersections have burning debris + burning building and they act like they whole city is in anarchy. Most of the police are just standing around.

I had higher expectations because they had a legit cause this time. Your spine can't magically snap from riding in a van down a paved road. The cops were clearly in the wrong in this situation.

What happened is fucked up and people should be making themselves heard, but there's no legit cause for opportunistic stealing, vandalizing, and burning of businesses and churches and attacking bystanders that haven't done anything to anyone. People who do that sort of thing are not trying to right a wrong and are just looking for an excuse to lash out at life "not being fair." For people like this it has nothing to do with the guy who was killed and everything to do with themselves. Pack mentality at its finest.

Well said BB.

The police chief said some very intelligent and interesting things to say to calm things down. Guy seems pretty on top of it all and sharp (I'm sure this guy has seen everything in his day):

The mayor of Baltimore is obviously a corrupt idiot given that she allowed the "venting" to go on. She's part of an agenda that includes much of the mainstream media, academia and the powers that be who are part of the "victimology" and "human rights" industry and need these things to blow up to the max so they can profit and spread their influence.

Lot of original "protestors" are from far-left groups who do this professionally, show up, fan the flames and then inevitably chaos ensues. It's a con and people are being played. There are still a ton of issues to deal with here of course but it sucks that we're still dealing with all these hustlers who are no different than SJWs really. And as others have pointed out, the entire city's not on fire, more like a few blocks, so once again the media use hyperbole to "sell" the story.

The victim's mother and family also came out against the rioting as well.

Officials calling for calm can offer no rational justification for Gray's death, and so they appeal for order.

I already know he's full of shit. They're appealing for order because the rioters are making everything worse and disrupting innocent people's lives. I have a close friend who lives near West Baltimore who can't leave his house because of these morons and the necessary police/military response.

The cops responsible for Gray's death are being investigated. Rather than let that play out, inner city criminals are taking advantage of the situation via rioting and looting and the usual race huckster suspects are excusing it by playing the race card.

If this was really about Freddie Gray they would just attack the police and criminal justice institutions en masse, but it's not. It never is.

Instead they burn down a retirement home that's under construction, burn down a community center it took them 30 years to get, loot the only drug stores and burn the corner stores. They have no fucking grocery stores in West Baltimore. How the fuck are the innocent residents there going to get food now?

So Ta-Nehasi Coates and the wannabe marxists who get a stiffy whenever this shit happens can fuck right off.

If only the fathers were around like in the 1950s this would have happened x-times more:

I've even read by Obsidian that the marriage rate of black households at one time was above that of white households in the US. That's some crazy good social engineering perpetrated top-down.

I happen also to agree somewhat with that gentleman, though would not call the politicians the elite, but the point is valid:

C'mon now guys. Who REALLY cares about the rioting and ensuing fallout? The REAL geniuses of Baltimore are aware of the ACTUAL problems in town and won a major victory this week.

As you can see from my comments further up, I'm no fan of these idiots looting and burning. I think however you are mis-characterizing Coates' statement. If you read through it to the end you'll see that he is not showing support of rioting.

I don't believe I am. He essentially says looting is neither moral or immoral, it just is, and that nonviolence is a bunch of shit because cops abuse people and now the city is calling for peace.

Quote:Quote:

And none of this can mean that rioting or violence is "correct" or "wise," any more than a forest fire can be "correct" or "wise." Wisdom isn't the point tonight. Disrespect is. In this case, disrespect for the hollow law and failed order that so regularly disrespects the community.

So what he's subtly saying is that he's fine with what's happening overall.

I don't often get political on Facebook but I couldn't help myself yesterday. I found it funny how so many people who were supporting Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin and treating them as martyrs changed their tunes once the rioting hit their backyards. Baltimore is my hometown so I knew many of these people. They and the rest of these so-called "sympathizers" against police brutality finally got to realize how much life sucks when they're not around when you try to do simple things such as go to a baseball game or go to work and literally take your life into your hands. These "protesters" never gave a second thought to harming their own communities and the others in it and try to pull those down around them who try to make it out, but cry racism when somebody gets arrested or shot for resisting the police. I say this as somebody who had two uncles shot at (one nearly died), a cousin shot at, as well as myself who was nearly killed minding their own business in this city. I understand the effects of poverty in these communities, but that should be no excuse to go and harm others. I have visited Third World countries where the rates of poverty and violence are far higher than they'll ever be in Baltimore or any other city in the United States, and was treated warmly and with class and respect. What is to stop these people from doing the same?

Was that a freelance reporter? Did she think it was a good idea to go out on a deserted street during the Baltimore riots and then film them?

Then she starts crying after they took her bag. Women shouldn't do that kind of reporting at all.
