Punisher should have his own series, I really liked the last Punisher movie, 'War Zone' I think. Can't remember the actor's name, but he played Pullo in the 'Rome' series on HBO. He would be great in it, bad-assed take no shit dude.

Think the name was Ray Stevenson. Good match for the punisher.[Image: Ray_Stevenson.jpg]

Another option would be Frank Grillo. I like this guy since I saw Kingdom and the purge.[Image: 43749.jpg]

Both Ray Stevenson and Frank Grillo are already in the Marvel universe I'm afraid. Grillo is Crossbones from the Winter Soldier and Stevenson is Volstagg in Thor.

Personally I'd have loved to have seen Stallone as the Punisher in the new Daredevil show. Have him as a grizzled Vietnam veteran who has been an urban legend for years cleaning up the streets.

As for Jessica Jones, I found this show complete unwatchable.

Captain America used to be Johnny Storm, so I don't think it matters if actors switch roles.
I didn't even know Ray Stevenson was in Thor, or who Volstagg is, not even sure who Crossbones is.
I'll have to rewatch them, see if I can spot them.

It does matter, marvel said they will not let actors play two roles in their movie verse. Fox has the movie rights to fantastic 4 not marvel, so its perfectly fine for chris evans to play captain america even though he was johhny storm

Glad they brought Jon Bernthal as Punisher. Watched the first two episodes, he brings it bloody, a foil to the "nice" good guy that is Dare Devil.

Although I do not watch much, the odd movie once few weeks and a tv season every few months or so, I'm a big fan of comic books and both Daredevil and Punisher are two favourites.

Daredevil and Punisher have interesting moral characters that men can be inspired by - and no, I don't mean dressing up in a costume and committing crimes.

Hoping for the "Born Again" storyline for next season, if anyone here knows more about Daredevil than this show and the mediocre movie.

Watched the first 2 eps. What a snoozer. Each episode only has the equivalent of 15 minutes of anything worthwhile and the rest are long atmospheric shots of heavy breathing and sewers and alleyways.

Will not be watching the rest.

Apparently some Navy Seals ran around with the Punisher logo sprayed on their gear shooting terrorists.

The whole concept of Daredevil is silly as shit but Punisher is good and so is Jon Bernthal.

That Would be Chris Kyle's Seal Team. I recall seeing a limited edition patch that featured the Punisher Logo a while back. The Proceeds went to supporting veterans or something along those lines.

The Punisher is a character that a lot of military and law enforcement types like. Nathan Edmonson's Punisher run tapped into that.

The idea that the last thing some real life scum might have seen was the punisher skull before getting shot in the face brings a tear of joy to my eye.

Just finished episode 5.

Punisher's character was pretty accurate but I don't think the actor has the right look.

Elektra's been in one episode so far and not only is the actress all wrong for the part, her characterization is WAY off. No wonder Frank Miller refuses to watch.

Light spoilers:

I wasn't a huge fan of this season compared to last. Some of the events are meaningless and hardly drive the plot forward at all.

Elektra was annoying and Matt kept going back to her even though he knew she was bad medicine for him. He also seemed to go out of his way to piss off Foggy and Karen.

I enjoyed Punisher as a character, but I think he takes a while to get going. He has some cool moments (like when he finally gets his iconic skull tshirt and the 'diner' and 'cell block' scenes), but I would have liked to see him go truly off the rails. For all the references to turning NYC into a 'Warzone' it felt like overhype. Still they do a decent job of weaving a punisher origin story into the plot considering its DareDevil's series.

The last episode was a bit of let down compared to the season 1 finale.

Lastly, am I the only one who found the 'bandana' ninja outfit DareDevil originally wore in Season 1 much cooler than his current gear? The only thing I like from this season is his new grapple/club.

First time I found out that there is a dare devil tv series...

But seriously, I wish they released the episodes once a week and not all of them in one day. I'm cutting back on my coursework because of this [Image: tongue.gif] [Image: biggrin.gif]

The fight scenes were better this season. I like how they brought back Kingpen.

The Punisher needs his own show! Netflix needs to make it happen.

Daredevil (2015 netflix series)

(Minor spoilers)

Finished season 2, still overall a great and really entertaining show but certainly not without flaws.

Fights are still some of the best ever on TV (this season particularly Matt's fight against the biker gang and Frank's brutal prison fight).
Blood and gore in some episodes almost on par with the new Deadpool movie.
Story lines were pretty good (though admittedly I tend to be pretty low maintenance in that area when it comes to TV and movies), but too many interchangeable ninjas in the smaller fights in the last half of the season.
The Punisher was awesome and completely stole the show (and I was very happy he wasn't just in the first four episodes, as I initially expected). Great acting performance. Needs his own series, but unfortunately I don't think he's on the list for any of the other Netflix Marvel shows in production?
Elektra was a bit bland. But WB of course.
Wilson Fisk was great in his limited appearances.
Matt tended to come off as a self righteous boy scout until the final episodes, next to the brutal and efficient murdering of The Punisher and to a lesser extent Elektra. Non-lethal superheroics, particularly when there's none of the humor and light-hearted banter you see in the Marvel movies, really do seem horribly inefficient compared to a shotgun blast to the face or a blade in the throat.
Karen is still annoying and gets too much screen time. Constantly snooping around, getting herself in over her head, needs to be saved, chasing the bad boys with the dark character flaws, and now working as journalist to potentially make her even more annoying and stubborn in the next season (though perhaps we may just be lucky enough that her final scene with Matt turns her in a better direction). Maybe a reasonably accurate portrait of a modern big city women, so not actually a bad character. Just fucking annoying. I read somewhere the other day that her comic book version is actually a drug addicted, low rent whore or porn model. Seems like a potentially good direction to take the TV version as well.

I'm watching shows one day at a time. Thank you for mentioning spoiler alert, I scrolled right past what you wrote.

Kinda suprised the whole season dropped at once. Call me old fashioned but I just won't binge watch

That's how Netflix does it with their own shows. And you're not exactly forced to binge watch - regardless of whether you're watching on Netflix or, like me, torrent it (no Netflix here, and even back in my native Denmark where I used to have Netflix the last year before I moved away I wouldn't be surprised if the latest shows are months delayed after their US release).

Great review, The Punisher was excellent. Great casting all the way through, except I really hate Foggy's character. Not sure if its the actor or just the characterization. Daredevil not banging Elektra / Karen when opportunity presents itself not realistic.

Daredevil (2015 netflix series)

I finished the 2nd season over the weekend. Below are my thoughts (WARNING: SPOILERS):

- I liked the overall season though I think season 1 was still a bit better. The pacing of the episodes this season was uneven at times and the last 2 episodes were the weakest in my opinion.
- I really did like the Punisher. The guy playing him also played Shane in TWD and does a good job of playing the good violent guy who will kill every villain around him.
- I did get annoyed by Karen as mentioned above by some and I don't like how they keep on hinting at some sort of shady past that she has but haven't given us anything. Also, her finding a job that easily as an investigative reporter was pretty unrealistic (though it is a superhero show, so not sure how fair it is to complain about realism).
- I did like the fact that Foggy has supposedly accepted that high paying job with his own office and secretary. If in the next season they show that he did not accept that job then that's ridiculous.
- Daredevil also became somewhat of an afterthought this season with the whole "Hand" and Elektra being their "Chosen One" leader. Season 1 did a great job of exploring Daredevil's own morality, his own internal turmoil.
- The show also messed up not having a villain right from the beginning. Maybe it's just me but the Hand, Stick, Elektra, and immortality story line seemed a bit convoluted.

Overall, it's still a good show and better than most of the crap on TV these days. Hopefully season 3 focuses more on Daredevil again.

Daredevil (2015 netflix series)

*SPOILERS*

MikeS and TheSlayer pretty much covered it for me. I'll reiterate a few things:

1. This season didn't really have a fleshed out villain. It might have benefited from one.

2. Punisher = bad ass. I was cheering for the Punisher pretty much the entire time. I really like the Punisher/Daredevil dynamic and want more of that. Some say Punisher should get his own show but I don't know if the character can sustain its own series. The character is fantastic right now playing the flip side of the coin to Daredevil's boy scout way of business and brings a lot of value to the show.

3. I love how much of a dick Sticks is.

4. The pacing of the episodes this season were fantastic for the most part. Very few dragging stretches and I was always hungry for more.

5. Got a little tired of how much airtime Karen was getting and how she ends up being the girl at the center of everything a few too many times. She fine in small doses but she kind of reminded me of a your typical basic American bitch who thinks she is the center the attention and everyone should care about what she thinks (so, good acting/writing I guess?)

6. I would rawdog the actress who plays Elektra HARD and drop some world class baby batter inside her! I've looked at some photos of her online and she kind of has a strong jawline and doesn't look super special hot or anything but in the show when you see her move/talk, she displays some female swag (if only acting at least) that definitely gives me a boner. Apparently, the actress is a Cambodian and French mix and was raised in France (must be where the swag is coming from; some of them French sluts just ooze it).

Overall, I thought it was great season.
