Alright well here's the deal..

I'm in Bogota.

I've got some initial impressions.

First of all, I've been to a lot of shitty, broken down, country-bullshit places headed up by toothless white people.

That being said, if your idea of an attractive city is the shitty houses in downtown Detroit, then you will love Bogota.

Now, I will say that I am generally happy I came here. I love seeing new places. I love taking away the "mystery". I waited too long to go to Thailand and wondered for many years if it could be a "paradise".

Well, Bogota is no paradise - that's for damn sure. Not sure I expected it to be, but I can confirm that for me it is not.

Its like a low-rise, smaller and somewhat shittier version of Manila. There are a few hot chicks here and there, but.. its actually got me doubting the need to keep tooling around in Colombia.

I think I'm just PMSing right now a little bit.. I do that.. like a bitch.. at times.. silently, perhaps. The bottom line is there is no fucking perfect place. I am aware of that. But the buildings and an entire run down city with rain.. well, whether its a midwestern city or Bogota.. it depresses me.

So I'm thinking still I might do a month here.. what the fuck.. met a pretty hot chick tonight.. was cool may do Salsa tomorrow with her for the first time.. I'm generally amused by a lot of things I see.. and basically staying a month I could at least get plugged into some social shit.. and lets be honest.. that's what life really comes down to.. no matter what your surroundings look like.. I've been miserable in 5 star buildings.

So I'm sorting through my own life shit, and I do like seeing new places. Chicks are generally really up for talking and hanging out like - a lot .. via online game primarily, but also I spoke in English to a few and they are happy about it.. I just need to keep a positive attitude ... and that goes for life in general..

The quality of chicks here is somewhat similar to .. hmm... Tampa perhaps. I mean hot chicks once in a while. Not a lot of "stunners" though. Went to Zona Rosa.. kind of a funny place. Its like .. "this is it?" LOL. I don't know.. its like small in a weird way.. like Phuket's entertainment district. Or like Hollywood Blvd.. kind of like ... Hmmm.. but then again, what the fuck am I comparing this to? I guess the biggest and best - like Vegas, shit like that.. South Beach..

But again.. it only takes one 5'10" super hot chick to make me change my tune no matter where the fuck I am. But with the Spanish and shit like that, I'm not sure I'm going to give it a chance here. The weather fucking sucks. Like San Francisco when its cold.

Basically all of the chicks I encounter are way too used to guys just wanting to fuck - almost more than the US. The dudes (gringos and colombians) must really do a number on these bitches. Its not that they have bitch shields.. its just that they're so used to guys that just want to fuck.. they bring it up.. and its kind of gay. There are ways to bypass it. Who knows. Itll all be good. I have an overflow of phone numbers like most everyone else here who's fucked around with colombians and online game. That's kind of cool.

Actually, that'll likely keep me here. Going to check out other cities eventually. I'm kind of fearful the whole country looks like Bogota. Its just .. um... ugly. LOL. But again, many places in the US are too. But, then again, many places aren't. And I'm sure Medellin, maybe up by the coast, etc. - look alright.

I wouldn't mind going to places where bitches are sitting there waiting for you.. hunting you.. gringo hunter spots.. Bogota not sure if that exists.. although, again, girls hear me speaking and they look and it becomes somewhat of a "show". Its happened 3 times within 24 hours. But these girls are like "cute".. I want HOT. A lot of it is on me.

Basically I like to streamline shit and want this online shit to work 100% all of the time so I can just do business shit. It basically can work out. This girl tonight I went out with her and her cousin is a solid midwestern 9.1 and South Beach, Miami 8.4 (which is extremely hot). She speaks no English. Her cousin translated and I am getting down with some Spanish (istart spanish app on the iphone).

Unlocked and jailbroken iphone on comcel is pretty cool. There are certain promotion days you can recharge at a rate of 3 for the price of 1.

Staying at Hotel Casa Paulina for $33.3 bones per night private room and bathroom in Chapinero. $60k pesos. Pretty good deal... umm.. I think..

But here's my last bitch about this place.. its fucking expensive. Its like more expensive than Miami and Orlando.. and it looks like fucking hell. Its hard for me to justify paying more than I would on some nice places in the US when these buildings look like crack houses - even the "nice" areas.. its wild man..

You know our economy is seriously fucked up and the dollar has taking a royal beating when you drive around Bogota and see what $1k per month would get you. Or the cost of hotels. Its un-fucking-believable. I don't mind shitty places if they cost like super-low prices. That's fun. Getting ass-raped for cash in a shitty looking place makes me feel like.. um.. am I a fucking moron? McDonald's is like $10 or 2x US prices? Apartments as well? As expensive as New York or Miami Beach on the ocean? LOL.

Your post reminds me of a friend of mine that can't stop complaining about Colombia but can't stop going there either.

I personally do not like Bogota either...but if you are going to hang there for a month you might as well have the best time possible...so I'm going to PM you the number of a friend who lives in Bogota....he is a gringo and likes to pick up women...so you'll have something in common right from the start.

Same, incredible and one of my travel highlights. The trek up there was killer but it was so worth it, the view from Wynapicchu (I probably spelt that wrong) looking down on the ruins as the mist and clouds cleared was breathtaking. I can't imagine a better sight. I don't think that sort of thing appeals too much to most of the posters on here though unfortunately.

You might be getting me confused with another poster. I cant see myself making that comment about Argentina as I think it is the opposite from everything I have heard/read esp in BsAs. I could be wrong though but I certainly dont remb saying that. Girls are pretty conservative in Argentina. Thats why you never hear me endorsing that country. My opinion is BsAs is a great city in terms of architecture and nightlife and every man should atleast check it out, but do not go if your looking to get alot of ONS.

But you are correct, as alot of ppl will make broad sweeping statements without personal experience or solid knowledge/intel. For the most part everything I say is backed up by other posters here, and if I say something it is either off first hand knowledge or trusted knowledge from friends/locals. First hand accounts from 2 of my close friends, opinions from 3 different girls I know that LIVE in Peru, and the COUNTLESS stories I hear from other travelers in person and online! Like I said, I dont have to have been to the Philippines to know its a fuckfest. I dont have to have been to Rio to know there is a fuck load of HOT girls. I dont have to have been to Bogota to know they have sick nightlife. I dont have to have been to Barranquilla to know an attractive white guy can clean house. Some things are just known to travel / country savy individuals.

My comment was in response to the OP about his experience in Peru, not Argentina. Notice I said directly after he should leave Argentina ASAP. Should have made that more clear in my initial post, but when questioned on it I clarified. I knew there was no way I said that about Argentina, I would have to be insanely drunk or high or both to say such a thing! lol You added the "in Argentina" to my actual statement and took it out of context, as I was refereeing to his lack of success in Peru given ample time, young 25, spanish skills ect.

I think the issue is that most people, even our closest friends, will always hype a place they've been to just to justify that it was a worthwhile trip. I've had a friend tell me that girls in the states are so easy and I should go there if I want mad action. Moral of that story is he was there for nearly a month and only smashed 4 girls, despite the girls being "so easy".

Another close friend keeps telling me we should go to miami because the girls are also so easy. This was based on girls hitting on him when he was in a bar with with his father. No bangs, just a few ioi's and suddenly girls are easy.

So I don't think that hearing other people's 'success' stories is too valid.

Best thing to do is use ur intellect and collect a wide and diverse amount of info on a place from a lot of diff sources. Even then it ain't fool proof but ur on the right track.

There are enough people on these boards that have been to the places we're discussing that second hand information and speculation don't really add much to the discussion.

Im gonna try and get some intel from him on hot undiscovered nightlife locations that I fully intend on posting on this forum. $33.33 per night is in the hood. I mean the straight up hood. Like basically people are scared to walk around at night hood. Although, I've noticed all of them are - even though there are like no sounds in the streets period. No one is out there at night basically. Even in the rich areas.

I discovered this today when I went up to North Bogota so visit the girl I went out with last night. Turns out she is a lawyer.

Here's my point about the pricing - You can stay by Disney in Orlando in a fairly whack place for $25/night - but a place that is .. umm.. workable. So the price for the place I'm in now, which is clean and small, but with good internet should be about $10/night.

Colombia isn't like that. Short-term rentals are the price of South Beach and New York - like $2k a month for a pimp or even somewhat pimp pad.

The buildings, skyline, etc. of North Bogota is way better. Its cleaner. Its more "bonito" basically.

Went to a gym called Hard Body across from Body Tech on Calle 146 I think and it was pretty nice. 2 stories, etc. - more like the US.

I'm all for shitty places that yield adventure, but the prices should reflect that. Since the dollar sucks ass, Bogota is actually more expensive - pound for pound - than the US.. and that's strange to me, although I understand why it is that way. Its basically the price of tier-1 cities.

If I'm going to pay US prices for pimp places, I don't know .. I'd rather be in the US. Or, places with infrastructure, etc. Bottom line is developing countries are basically more expensive than the US - or just as expensive. I read about this.. but, well, to see it in person is amusing. Because I'm talking about rubble in the streets and shit, but more expensive than Orlando and equal pricing to Tier 1 US cities. Whacky.

Anyway, my review of Bogota was pre-mature. I guess it wasn't a review, but maybe I'm giving you a "blow by blow" of the experience. The girl helps too, I have to admit - but just driving in the taxi I noticed banks, high rises, etc. and it looked a lot better up there. I recommend if people can, stay up there. Unless you like, again, a ghetto downtown Detroit vibe - and I'm not talking about Greektown.
