Besides, Newton only received a mere M.A from Trinity College, Cambridge... while on the other hand, Sandra Harding have such fine credentials: a professor of Social Sciences and Comparative Education at UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, and the Director of the UCLA Center for the Study of Women. Harding previously taught at the University of Delaware for many years. She earned her PhD from New York University (NYU). Clearly, she has Newton beat!

In closing, i will just point out that another noted feminist, Luce Irigaray, stated that E=MC^2 is a sexed equation. Why? And i quote "it privileges the speed of light over other speeds that are vitally necessary to us".

What you've absolutely crystallized for me here is that 1/2 the human race is here solely for my enjoyment, either through sex or comedy depending on their SMV.

In other news, Philae is in big trouble. 60 hours of initial battery life is winding down, and it's heavily shaded in its present position, only getting 3 hours of sunlight per day which is not enough to recharge. No harpoons holding it down, so any instrument deployment will upset things. I hope ESA brought their A game, this is their Apollo 13 moment. I give it 10% chance of doing anything besides taking pictures and magnetic field measurements, and I hope I'm very wrong and for whatever reason it's not that bad. They've had great luck so far, because after the initial touchdown they slowly braked the reaction wheels thinking they were on the surface anchored, so during the bounces they must have been tumbling. It's amazing they landed upright and relatively unbroken.

Drilling with the sample collection drill, different than the MUPUS drill, that will hopefully get a few grams of comet material to the mass spectrometer and gas chromatograph (sorry for the large image but the original is all copy protected and I had to do something unconventional)

ESA are rockstars. They did it. Snatched victory from the jaws of defeat!!!

Philae bounced on landing, almost with enough velocity to escape. Tumbled around, bounced again, landed upright without breaking, anchored with a few grams of gravitational force only. At the bottom of a canyon, only getting a fraction of the sunlight they'd planned for. Decided what to do and did it ASAP while primary power ran out. I look forward to the science data that will come over the next weeks. They probably haven't slept much if at all over the past few days.

Was it an intentional crash? Sounds like its purpose above the comet was finishing up, so they decided to put it on the surface to collect data.
