Yeah I was just looking at the West standings, if we assume LA, Anaheim, NSH, STL and CHI come out, that leaves one free Pacific spot and two wild cards... I'd wager SJ will finally get it's shit together and get 3rd in the pacific so that leaves us CGY, VAN, MIN and WPG... My guess is WPG and MIN but it's gonna be exciting!

-Van is ruined by injuries
-CGY is luckiest team in the league, their Corsi is hovering at Toronto levels so the shit is gonna hit the fan soon...

Damn I wish this thread had more post like the NFL and NBA thread.

Anyways, it appears the group in Las Vegas is getting close to reaching their goal of 10,000 season tickets needed to get an NHL team. There are a lot of big names supporting getting a team like Dana White, Daniel Negreanu, Floyd Mayweather, the Maaloufs, and a lot more. I'd love a team to be in Las Vegas I would make a few trips per season to check out some games there.

Sunbelt teams are like crack to the NHL, they know it's bad for them, but they are too addicted to let go. Interesting to see how it would work out. They are stubbornly holding on to Florida and Arizona despite heavy losses and the owners crying poor. Would like to see teams back in Hartford, Quebec, and Seattle, to be honest.

The Metro division is gonna be fun down the stretch. Caps, Islanders, Rangers and Panguins all separated by a few points between a division title and a wild card. Rangers have a couple games in hand, but anyone can still take it.

It also means the possibility of having Isles/Rangers and Caps/Pens in the first round. It's been too long since Ovechkin and Crosby met up in the playoffs.

Sharks have a 35% chance at a playoff spot, I don't see them making it.

It has, would be great for the rivalry if we finally beat the stinking Pens in the playoffs.

Trade deadline is gonna be a dud, all the deals have happened! Petry, Michaelek, Vermette, Chris Stewart... Not many big names left on the table [Image: sad.gif]

Jagr to the Panthers. That race for the last spot in the east just got more interesting.

Any guesses on scoring leaders or anything? I'm predicting a first-time winner. Taveres or Seguin most likely. I'm also expecting a further slide by Ovi. I'm so tired of borderline fans in DC worshipping the guy.

Well, I was half right. Benn and Taveres are 1-2, Seguin probably would have been #1 if he hadn't got hurt.

Wrong about Ovi. Good season for him.

Pretty low-scoring season for the top guys in general, but goals-per-games is around the same. Better 3rd and 2nd liners I guess. This is the first full season with no 100-point guys in 11-years.

Pissed about my Bruins, such a shitty season. Losing Boychuk hurt and it seems like Chara is going to start slipping. Surprised about the Kings too.

yes. another year of frustration as a flames fan.

my current prediction is that they drop even lower than the 4th last finish from last season.

Congrats on the Flames. Your young guys really stepped up. Vancouver is definitely weaker than they were, wouldn't be surprised if the Flames can upset them.

Any predictions from you guys on the playoffs?

The first round is notoriously tough to predict, but I've got Anaheim, Chicago, St. Louis, Vancouver, The Rangers, Caps, Habs and Lightning coming out of the first round.

Spoilers I could see to that are the Red Wings.

Maybe the Flames.

Predictions?

Ducks baby ! Hilarious the kings got booted out by Calgary.

I agree with Ducks, Hawks, Blues, Canucks and Rangers.

Red Wings are still hurting aren't they ?

I don't see the flames coming out, but we'll see.

^ Minny has weak playoff experience, so I doubt it. STL's experience recently has been being the Kings bitch, but I see them making the 2nd round. Minny would be the most surprising upset to me other than maybe Winnipeg.

Too bad the LA Kings didn't make the playoffs; I'm a fan of Jonathan Quick.

I guess they tuned out Darryl Sutter bigtime.

^^Really? It's gonna be strange with no Bruins or Kings in the playoffs.

Losing Voynov was a death blow. Everyone had an opinion about how he was overrated, but the team defense was night and day worse without he and Willie Mitchell. There's a reason the guy (Slava) was making $4 million in only his 2nd year.

The kings are relatively new to the post season compare to the ducks.

We think of them as relatively new since they just won 2 stanleys.

You'll always see names like red wings, hawks, and a canadian team thrown in the mix.

I actually think the Jets have a good chance at a deep run.

http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/teamstat...rtdir=DESC

If they can beat Anahiem then they get a cakewalk versus Calgary or Van. Look at the link. Anaheim is a bottom third team in terms of both Corsi and Fenwick for. They are ripe for the picking. If Pavelec can hold on the Jets will make the Western finals and play whichever team had to claw through the Central division gauntlet.

^ Bruce Boudreau has had some pretty lackluster playoff performances, so we'll see. I don't think Winnipeg can bet ANA in 7 on their own merit, but I suppose Anaheim could beat themselves. That first home playoff game for the Jets will be a sight to see.
