Comedian Bill Burr: Lizards want to ruin the NFL

Bill Burr is a genius at dressing red pill truths in socially palatable clothing. He does it in his "You People Are All The Same" special perfectly, but here he posits that men are "simple mindedly" happy so women react negatively to their happiness. Neither you, nor I - nor Bill - believes that men are really single dimensional buffoons. But a bit of self deprecating laughter and he sets the stage to wade into much deeper topics - women invading male spaces for the sake of "ruining" it - and it's couched in comedic terms that are socially acceptable enough to broach the idea.

I think Burr and to an extent Jim Jefferies are the two most red pill comedians in the 'mainstream' at this point.

Can only imagine the sorry ass excuse for men in the studio audience reaction wether to applause or not.[Image: angry.gif]

Bill Burr is my favorite comedian of all time, and by far the best one working today. Saw him this summer on the Oddball tour, and everyone after was saying how he should have been the closer instead of Louis CK. Here's him on gold-digging whores.

That bit was so fucking good, thanks for that. I'm gonna check out some of his standup.

Another guy like him is Norm MacDonald. However Norm was too much for them. His deadpan dry delivery style also did not help, but atleast Norm stayed true to his principles. One of the guys we tend to like on here, that I have certainly liked, is Jim Jefferies. But in recent times, his tweets and comments have been getting more and more liberal. I have seen this trend rise especially since his show "Legit" was cancelled. I don't know if he is trying to be the edgy liberal comic to fit in better. That would be a shame.

Hopefully Bill Burr survives.

Re: Men being simple minded.

There are some things about men that are simple that women just don't get, or refuse to get. Like physical attraction. Women often want to imagine all these complex crazy reasons why a guy does or doesn't like her.

It's not complicated.

That video should be titled, "Women Explained in Three Minutes."

Great share.

Comedian Bill Burr: Lizards want to ruin the NFL

Bill Burr is a very interesting figure.

First of all, it has to be said he is pretty damn popular. His shows are always booked, yet he'll do something like slowly sneak into a great dissection of American marriage - divorce rape and alimony, the whole nine yards - and it's hilarious. It's so sly. He'll begin acting all depressed, like "Man, I'm so useless. 36 years-old, I'm unmarried, no kids. Why the fuck am I here." Then lead into, "But has anyone seen the stats???" Bam. Just like that.

He'll just unload shells of red pill into the audience's faces on a big late night talk show, and he gets away with it. He has angry Youtube commenters from the typical feminist white knight fag crowd, but I haven't ever seen a hack piece done on him by Slate or The Atlantic or Huffington.

There's this Carlinesque dynamic going on with him and the audience. One of comedy's societal roles was to be a place of free speech and honest criticism of the political orthodoxy, as well as speaking of the plain truth. It's uplifting to see that comedy still has that role. Not so say other comics have gone on the chopping block, but I think Bill's avoided the crackdown because he's that charming and likable. The Boston accent, the easygoing demeanor.

Great comedian.

Bill Burr is brilliant, because his integrity and thirst for truth is the CORE of his comedy.

A lot of comics, they come up with a bit, and don't necessarily believe what they're saying. They're just doing comical masturbation - hey, let's see if people laugh at this, and then I'll throw it out there, and that's my act! It's just a bunch of silly bullshit to push people's buttons.

Burr, on the other hand, is saying, "Hey, fuck you, I don't care what you think, I'm going to tell you how the world works. And I'm so passionate and lucid about it, and so good at revealing bullshitters for what they are, you're going to get fired up and laugh at the same time."

There is never a moment in Burr's act where he isn't speaking with complete conviction. Everything he says, he means. He's never saying something and then saying, "hey, it was just a joke! I don't really believe that! Sike!" The edgiest, realest comics always have that quality to them, like Chris Rock.

How many comics can simultaneously fire you up and make you laugh at the same time? Most of them are clowns who do just the opposite, who pacify you with irrelevant, silly trivia.

I don't really get this guy - I just can't bring myself to laugh at 90% of his shtick. And I love Bill Burr. He has a smoker's voice, sure, but take that away and his comedy seems pretty clunky and overwrought. I get the feeling he has a lot of 'alt-comedy' fans.

You could tell Bill Burr wasn't getting much love from the audience when he was really hammering the point home - not so much because his delivery or content was bad, but because Conan's audience is a bunch of alt comedy type hipsters. I'm ambivalent about Conan but his fans are annoying and unfunny as fuck. The audience only weirdly laughed when he made that meta joke about getting that story right the next time.

Which one of you was the sole guy clapping in the audience?

People think it is funny.
I think it is sad.

I mean, they laugh and clap, and go home like nothing happened.

This reminds me of the Animatrix scene of the clapping skeletons before the machines took over.

Notice how Bill is one of the few who can override Conans in your face, I-am-louder-than-you interview technique?

Conan knows he cannot compete with Bill.

Bill Burr is on the verge of going from being one of the great comics of this generation to becoming a living legend. Mark my words: His upcoming special will push him into Eddie Murphy, George Carlin, Richard Pryor territory.

Comedy is one of the last bastions of male honesty. What he said was funny, but in the right context he could have been saying all that to me and I would have been nodding and agreeing. A lot of comedy is like that nowadays. People are so used to being lied to that the only way they'll accept basic truths is when it's dressed up as a joke.

That's why comedians like Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Patrice O'Neal, Chris Rock, etc. have such cult followings. They're just being honest and truly believe most of what they present to the audience.

Agree with all of these comments. Bill Burr, the red-pill prophet. He is taking these common-sense observations that are heretical, and making them palatable to audiences that would otherwise scream, hiss and boo. He's not a crowd-pleasing clown, yet is still hilarious.

I listen to his weekly podcast: http://www.billburr.com/podcast
From the Conan video, you can observe his dominance, conviction, body language and confidence. Yet in other interviews and in some of his podcasts you can hear him talk about personal issues, insecurities etc in a way that is not feeble or pathetic. He's a highly successful comic and actor, and he doesn't need to project a caricature or parody of masculinity.

He's touring now in the U.S, lucky for most of you who can go to one of his small venue shows. Looking forward to his AUS tour.

There is a good chance he will end up like Patrice O'Neal - revered by fellow comics, but to the average man, just another comedian. He fires us up sure, he rallies us to vociferous agreement, but what about for men and women who don't already see things the way we do, for people who don't have such a thirst for truth?

But Burr has two advantages over Patrice:
1. He's alive, and he isn't dying soon, barring some catastrophe.
2. He is a much stronger orator.

For a while, I didn't like Patrice because I found him inarticulate - his language was repetitious and full of filler. His overall observations were great, but they were marred by the lisping ebonic slang delivery. I quickly dismissed him for those reasons, but he kept cropping up here and I changed my mind about him - but most of the time, you've got to win over new audiences immediately.

Bill Burr is my favorite comedian right now for sure. I'm a fan of cynical, socially critical, abrasive, self-deprecating story-telling type comedy. Bill Burr. Louis CK, and Doug Stanhope are holding the crown on that as far as I'm concerned (though Stanhope is awfully niche).

I've always agreed wholeheartedly with he views Bill presents. The only modern red-pill comic whos killing it right now and looks to be doing better and better. Agreeing with all comments here - he masterfully presents his views on hot social topics in a way that is against the status quo but still agreeable and entertaining. More people should be listening to what he has to say.

So Conan has little respect for the majority of his guests? I've heard Bill rant and rave on his podcast, he strikes me as a guy who can make the volume and rage go up.

Conan knows this so he doesn't butt in. Bill would call him on it for sure.
