Now hiring: video guy that can help make me a Youtube sensation

I'm looking to hire a guy well-versed in video to help me produce 50 high-quality clips for Youtube that are about 3-6 minutes in length each. I would provide the content and you would do all the shooting/lighting/sound/editing.

Job term length: 1 month. I'm guessing it would be full time for you (~2 hours a day of shooting and several more editing). I will pay you based on a this being a full time gig for the month. I'd like to start the second half of August.

This would be shot on location in Odessa, Ukraine (both in my apartment and outside). You would need to bring your own equipment (DSLR camera, laptop) but we can buy some stuff like remote microphone, lamps, etc, if needed.

I want to do this because I see idiots on Youtube with a billion followers and don't see why I can't be youtube famous as well since I got decent content. We can discuss editing when the time is right, but I figure we have to do it in the jumpcut style that seems to be popular these days since most people have bad attention spans. Currently I have 4,500 subscribers. I would like to hit 50,000 as a result of this effort.

Feel free to ask questions here or via email: [email protected]. Of course I would want to see sample work before making a decision. You don't have to be a video expert, but have a few good clips and a willingness to work with me until we get the videos just right. Also it's a major plus if you can do on-screen text and basic effects. Lastly, since we will be seeing each other every day, I would want to have a chat with you over skype to make sure we will get along.

If this endeavor ends up being profitable for me, we may try longer projects in the future.

When I was reading "The Successful Gypsy" I thought it would make a great short film (~15 minutes or so). Maybe something to shoot for in the long run.

Dammit, I have all that shit.

Respectfully, how high quality are you looking for? The reason is, I have studied YouTube (trying to understand the commericial/economics of it) and the consistent thing that matters it seems is regular uploading and useful content. Production value seems to be low on the list AS LONG AS audio is pretty clean. People will watch not perfect visuals, but if there is a lot of hiss, screeching, etc in the audio people get turned off quickly.

I wish I could pack up and go, but cannot.

If for some reason you cannot find someone to pack up and go, keep in mind that thanks to dropbox and large file transfer ability you can have someone edit it anywhere.

I hope it goes the way you want it to, was just trying to add a little context/color.

Very exciting!

HD of course. Basically what the popular vloggers are doing. I'm guessing they have good cameras/microphones. I'm looking for a step up on how my current videos are like.

True, but I don't want to film or mess with cameras. It's not my thing. I just want to be the monkey who speaks. You do everything else.

This is a great idea. I was actually saying you should do something like this on the chat the other day.

The two biggest brands in "pickup" by far are RSD and Simple Pickup, which both share their content predominately through Youtube. Yet neither have the quality of content that you do. I predict this is going to be very successful.

Here's to the next frontier for Roosh.

Awesome news. Glad to hear you are taking the plunge. As you said there's tons of dumb ass people out there with a ridiculously high amount of subscribers/followers/support groups ect... It would be a really nice to see someone such as yourself who have helped and influenced so many people have some success and reach a broader audience.

Best of luck!

I guess that means no more 3D teddy bears doing the fat shaming. Those old videos look like crap but they are funny as shit [Image: lol.gif]

@Deluge I agree, the biggest guys on pickup on youtube are definitely SP and RSD, the thing is SP are very blue pill and attention whoring and even though I like Tyler from RSD, sometimes he seems too much of a clown for the average guy. I think Roosh's vibe and point of view would be a cool contribution to the mix, he would certainly stand out from what's already there.

You're fighting a tide that never ends.

Human stupidity and boredom is endless. Its why jackass is popular and cats vs dog videos. As hilarious as they are they provide entertainment and the lowest amount of brain cells required.

Content which is out to give you better results in life and with women is hard for most people and lets not forget, this is going to be marketed towards men only. So off the bat 50% of youtubes viewing figures are not going to come your way and subscribe except for angry man hating lesbians.

Great idea! Just for a little bit of perspective: 50 clips is a big number. Sometimes people underestimate how long it takes to create good video - and sometimes less is more. The hallmark of a good shooter/editor is when you don't think about the quality of the video while you are watching. In other words, it is typically easier said than done to produce good or great video.

Each 3-6 minute clip will likely take at least 30 minutes to shoot, then 2-4 hours to edit, add title card/credits, compress, upload, etc. You might want to change outfits and locations between clips, or prep for the next segment, all of which takes time. You should also factor in talent fade i.e. you will eventually get tired of multiple takes and will need a break. If you are tired or lacking virility then it will have a negative affect on the quality of your videos.

Audio is 90% of good video. People are tolerant of jump cuts, shaky camera, or busy backgrounds, but you will lose them quickly if the audio has an echo, static, variation in amplitude or volume, or is otherwise low quality. Capturing good audio requires experience and patience - sometimes a location will be perfect but it will not be possible to capture acceptable audio, so the shooter has to be able to think on their feet and offer solutions if things don't go as planned.

All of this is not to discourage you, just to give you some things to consider when reviewing candidates. A good candidate will have an understanding of what it takes to produce the results you want: from pre-production, to shooting, to editing, and will be able to lead you through these phases of the project.

Good luck and looking forward to the videos!

Its not going to be a monologue I hope. Usually popular videos have images that pop up or video clips. Terrence Pop videos have some nice impact but he doesn't get that much exposure. In general people have short attention spans and you have to design for that.

The videos Fisto made awhile ago I think had the potential to go viral. He has a sing song style of talking which made you want to watch the whole video, regardless of content. And I think he used animation which is pretty effective for capturing peoples attention.

I think a lot of popular videos have lighting that is of the camera as well so you get a better quality image. You might also not get great audio in your apartment depending on the accoustics of the room. You might not be able to shoot in your room if that is the case.

Good luck.

Roosh your jokes and sarcasm help the overall presentation. Hustle hard with dynamic and intense videos like VitalyzTV and Good Looking Loser. SimplePickup is another channel that has some great uploads.

Roosh, glad to hear you have big plans for the youtube channel. I enjoy watching the videos there.

I'm not convinced though that professionally shot video is the limiting factor for the number of subscribers to your channel. A much more important factor might be regular upload schedule: e.g. "new video every thursday", that is advertised on your channel and that you stick to.

Also, in the realm of pick-up oriented channels, it seems be the presence of flashy stuff as opposed to deep content that translates to high subscriber numbers.

For example, take RSD Alex. He has a channel in which he has put out a total of 110 videos, shot in various interesting locations all over the world with decent quality video. He has 12K subscribers. And there's other guys out there who have sub-par editing and less videos that have a lot more subscribers. But the videos of them just talking to the camera about some concept or idea have by the far the least views, compared to stuff with infield footage, and other flashy stuff.

Richard LaRuina (of PUA training) has a channel with about the same number of videos as Alex RSD, but has 86K subscribers.

The videos are professionally shot and he almost always has hot girls in the video with him. I wonder how many subscribers he'd have if it was just him talking to the camera without the girls, saying the exact same content and same equipment. I think it may just be a tough arena to gain subscribers without some sort of a 'gimmick' or something similar.

Regardless, looking forward to more videos. Good luck!

Roosh, man, you're a natural for Youtube.

You would have 100k+ subscribers if you put out a video every week.

The only reason you don't have more IMO is because your videos are so few and far between.

Honestly I prefer your Youtube videos to your blog articles.

Mainly I just don't want to do the shooting and editing. It doesn't have to be Hollywood quality, just better than what I got now, especially with sound.

I can respect that. Do what you do well and let others do what they do well.

However, if it is mainly just sitting down on your couch and presenting, I imagine a smart person like you could figure it out pretty quickly. If I may give a quick idea on what it might cost to make a pitch for grabbing your own equipment.

A T3i, a rode videomic or a sennheiser wireless lav (your in luck - C band (frequency range) is banned in the US so they sell cheaper), a set of sturdy simple sticks (tripod) and you could be pretty presentable for like 1K or so depending on how you kit up.

Granted if it is just video maybe you go for a pure video camera rather than a T3i (dslr).

Like I said, I respect your wishes, just wanted to share a little knowledge I have on the production side.

Regardless, I think it is a good idea. Just wear a pimp purple hat or something. [Image: biggrin.gif]

No way will that take 1 month. more like 3 months!

Things like this have a way of taking much much longer than you budget for. equipment failures, weather, & things just flat out going wrong.
