I think the debate of Game vs. Lifestyle has a direct analogy to the Skills vs. Size in MMA or other martial arts. Game is analogous to having skills, and Lifestyle/Money is analogous to having Size. All too often we hear "size doesn't matter."
I'm no MMA expert but did make a brief go (I was an excellent wrestler and later a powerlifter). The coach was impressed by my strength. And he said this (paraphrase): "anyone that says size and strength doesn't matter is full of shit. The fact is, if you had two guys that were exactly EQUAL in Skill, the bigger and stronger guy will destroy the smaller one. All too often people compare two completely different skill levels and determine size doesn't matter. Like, comparing Bruce Lee to some big roid guy that has mediocre skills, then you conclude that Size doesn't matter. You never hear about people comparing two people of the exact same skill level, and one guy is 150 and the other is 220, and concluding the guy at 150 has a chance."
And yes, I got thrown around like a rag doll by Olympic hopefuls that weighed 165 while I was strong as an Ape and had 50lbs on them. But, even these guys had the same view...size/strength does matter (a lot), but it can't overcome someone with a much higher skill level. That said, these guys all wanted to obtain BOTH the highest skill level and reach an optimum level of strength given their genetic makeup.
- If you have Game like Bruce Lee has skill, I'm sure you can get tons of chicks while being broke and without building up a solid lifestyle
- If you have Lifestyle/Money like Arnold Schwarzanegger has Size/Strength, I'm sure you can get plenty of chicks without having much game
These are the extremes. The best solution is to try and be your best at both.
And, just like that guy that was 165 that threw me around like a rag doll, when skill is matched up against size, skill wins. I'd also bet on smooth game over lifestyle. But, at no point did any of these guys say to me "you know, if you weren't so strong you would be much better". Rather, it was "dude, if you can increase your skill level and keep that strength, you are going to be a monster."
