My jailing was a hoax

I just don't understand what the purpose of this prank was supposed to be. Was it supposed to be funny? Because it's not really funny to abuse the trust of your friends by making them think you're in deep trouble when you aren't. How could you guys not realize that? Obviously Roosh and Tuth aren't socially retarded or anything, which makes it even more baffling. It's just inexplicably poor judgment from two guys who should have known better.

I figured it was bullshit, or that it would sort itself out.

Good thing I didn't get too worked up about it. Roosh is his own man, I know a little jail time wouldn't have scared him.

It is kind of disturbing to see how other websites monitor this forum though.

I'm looking at you, manboobs.

I just hope Roosh never actually gets arrested now, 'cause nobody will believe him.

He might survive it. He has a family whom he can call and maybe off line friends too. There are many people who survive travelling around without having an armada of forum soldiers.

Had they done this on April Fools day, then nobody would have belived it.
I would say that this is still not as good as the day Roosh turned the forum pink. Does anyone have a screen cap of that?

It's not that our loyalty is easy to lose. It's that your respect for us is nonexistent. Would you let your real life friends think you were in Jail for 5 hours?

Also keep in mind that loyalty is something that should be valued and rewarded.

Now you're lecturing us on what we are allowed to disapprove of?

Fisto,

I know how you feel -- I was posting about donating money to Roosh as soon as I saw the thread and I was fully ready to do so.

These guys made a mistake. Sometimes your friends make mistakes and you're pissed off but you think about the value of all they've given you and you forgive the mistake.

It's just one day, just one bad decision. It does not show that their respect for us is nonexistent. Step back and look over the entire history of the forum -- have Tuth and Roosh behaved other than honorably? One bad day does not change everything.

I appreciate you guys sharing your thoughts on the prank aftermath. No one will get banned for criticizing the prank. My instinct tells me you will be more inclined to see the humor in it in a day or two, though of course I could be wrong.

Yeah I have several avenues where I can get help. If I really do get jailed, you guys wouldn't know until I got out and wrote about it (or if it made the news).

There are some deep lessons on power dynamics to be learned here.

I feel for MikeCF. Nobody wants to be made to feel like a fool by people they have given their trust to. Being disappointed or angry with somebody is one thing, but there is nothing worse than feeling played. We all know that.

Oh freaking please! Grow some skin guys.

Post Roosh is in jail X and needs help now and we can figure it out with the hive mind. These couple hours of mod generated drama only shows how weak some of you are for getting worked up. Chill out when in doubt.

The first hours after being imprisoned are crucial. People say and do stupid things that they wouldn't expect - and I don't know how sound Poland's jailing system is (draconian interrogation techniques, coerced confessions, etc.) So I had to seriously consider not chilling out, because in such a situation that can lead to long-term and deleterious consequences.

If I were in a position to help someone here by getting them a lawyer ASAP, I may have done so. Being locked up overseas is very scary.

I say all this as someone who was very nearly locked up overseas - it was only through dumb luck that I wasn't, and my life would be nothing like it is now. On the night of my near-arrest I was calling connections with the local U.S. consulate. I'm sure if Roosh actually had been locked up, he would have done the same, or wanted us to do so.

scorpion,

There's also such a thing as guys taking themselves too seriously. A sense of humor is a necessity. Time to shrug it off and get back to business.

I agree with your sentiment, but not with your analogy. One bad day can ruin a lot. One bad day has caused innumerable consequences.

I'm not offended by the prank at all. I can see why some guys who actually made calls to people they know would be pissed off. Maybe Roosh and Tuth didn't anticipate that. I just saw it the spirit of a bunch of guys pulling a locker room prank, laughing about it then grabbing a beer later. There was no irreparable damage done by the prank. Lighten up, folks. It's just not that big of a deal.

Poor poor taste overall. I'm actually surprised that you guys went ahead with this prank.

I think many high rep posters can attest that there is no barrier between their 'forum' life and their 'personal' life. I've taken guys to places where if people found out we had met on an internet forum, I'd be thought of as a social outcast with four fucking heads. I've also invited guys into my own house if they needed a place to crash for the night. The same treatment has also been granted back to me from other members here.

I've got plenty of friends, but I count you guys as important friends as well. There was never a doubt as to whether I'd help out Roosh in any capacity if something was wrong. I even voiced this privately over text and phone to a couple other members.

A lot of this forum is built on trust and every person I've ever met affirms that. People are exactly who they say they are here, and then to be pulled around like that by the founder and moderator leaves me a little incredulous.

While in the end nothing negative happened to me, I can sympathize with anyone who went out of their way to attempt to reconcile Roosh's 'arrest'. We just don't do shit like that around here. I've been locked up abroad for an 18 hour period of time, and let me tell you it's the most miserable experience of my life to this date. I immediately went into 'oh fuck' mode when I read this and was willing to throw my hard earned cash at the problem to get your ass out of there.

I'd smack the fucking shit out of one of my friends who played this type of prank on me.

This is false, and you know it. If that were the case, I wouldn't devote countless hours of my busy life to constantly scrubbing this place clean or bend the rules to protect guys' privacy or rack my brain behind the scenes with Roosh on ways to improve this place.

Don't tell me this has never happened to you: you made a joke to a real-life friend--expecting him to get a laugh out of it--but he reacted in a way you didn't expect. What would you do? You reveal your intentions, correct the misunderstanding, and hug it out.

I'm having a problem seeing why guys are struggling with the last part. I get it: a lot of guys didn't find it funny. Have we not made you laugh on other occasions? They can't all be winners.

I also fully accept that for many of you I abused your trust. I didn't anticipate that when devising the prank, but I am confident that my output and actions in the weeks ahead will show my sincerity at being the one person who you can count on. If anything, this prank makes visible the trust I have built up over the years that lately I have taken for granted.

Yes, but what should those guys tell the people that they called on your behalf?

I think its because you never been locked up so you don't realize how serious and awful going to jail is. I just got released yesterday actually. This time for 48 hours. Its like you're not even human. I couldn't get bailed out the first day because some fat lady cop didn't like me standing up for myself and not shutting up so she threw me in the cold ass tank all day with no phone access. You get treated like shit in jail and people were genuinely concerned.

That they were pranked by someone they trusted. They should not feel any regret or embarrassment. The heat should come squarely on me, and I will accept the repercussions.

I get drunk and miss this shit.

Fuck.

Reminds me of the time I was watching a boring snooker match, went to the toilet and completely missed a nudist running in and disrupting the match.

True story dat.

People should just let this sit for a couple of hours, and if they're still interested, return to it in a few hours/ days. Some guys are annoyed and feel like idiots, others don't really understand why an innocuous joke has ballooned so bad. I know that in the last few hours Ive gone from worried to pissed off to not really caring.
If you're still annoyed (which is unlikely) then say whatever you want, and maybe Tuth and Roosh will have a fresh perspective as well. The fact is most guys on here have extracted more value from the forum than they've put in, so theres no point getting that annoyed about a little wasted time.
