GC, that of course depends on the city and the location within the city. But at those prices you should be able to be without roaches, reasonable proximity to good areas. You'll still have noisy chinese neighbors who smoke in the building - you have to go way more upscale to avoid that. I think it lessens as you go more upscale, but 4000 isn't that upscale. 6000, like I pay, is another step up, but I still occasionally noisy neighbors, especially as some of the units in my apartment building are occupied by businesses (I didn't know this when I moved in, and I've now switched to a quieter floor). Also, if you can get a high floor it will of course cut down on traffic noise. Smoking in the hallways is another issue to deal with, Chinese men will seemingly smoke almost anywhere.

no, because you're not considering the differences in traits that we find attractive. A large portion of the hot girls in high end clubs in little black dresses will be pros or semi pros, but there are a ton of hot girls that are totally ignored and looked down upon by most wealthy chinese. in fact, these are the girls who are good by most standards here.

Because class is so important in China, a good looking girl with the wrong living permit (hukou system) is all but invisible (socially and usually legally) to the wealthy chinese.

The overwhelming majority of guys who have chinese girlfriends are exploiting this arbitrage without realizing it. if you know where to look and who to talk to, it becomes that much easier.

What Clever said is very very true, especially in certain cities, Shanghai being the most prime example. But actually, in Shenzhen, its less prominent than perhaps anywhere else in China, because this is a city of immigrants for the most part. There are "local" Hakka and Chouzhou people who are here (and some cantonese of course) and the Hakka especially can be very clannish, and Cantonese in general stick to their own, more because they have a different language and culture than other Chinese (more demonstrably different).

The Hukou is like an invisible leash in Chinese society, dragging people back to their home provinces and affecting their ability to ascend through society to some considerable degree as well. I'd also add, like in many other countries, whiter skin is more valued, so if you find a girl whose even slightly darker (like some girls I've met from Guizhou or Hainan, for example, who were smoking hot), Chinese guys would typically be less interested to them. Thats hotness arbitrage, because to you, they're an 8, but to Chinese guy, they're a middling 5.

I'm in my mid-20s right now and whilst I am currently working on my bankroll, I am aiming to leave Australia by age 30 to live somewhere in Asia.

PRC is very high up on my list, and I am considering several cities as options (Shenzhen being one of them). I haven't yet been to PRC, although I have been to Taiwan. The reason I am considering moving to PRC is because the Chinese girls exhibit the exact physical traits I'm looking for (cute heart-shaped faces, small frames, golden skin) and China is seems to be undisputedly the best place in the world to find excellent wife material.

However, moving there would only be worth it if it would be realistic for me to secure a high quality girl (at least an 8 out of 10). If I wanted a low quality girl, there are heaps of them here in Australia. I'm white with light brown hair, and I'm university educated, so I guess I would have somewhat of an advantage in China.

Regarding "middle class" - that's exactly what I meant. The reason I asked about middle class girls is because I would guess that the rich Chinese girls would be extremely materialistic, whereas the poor Chinese girls would be pretty dull.

Also, regarding the issue of understanding Mandarin as a foreigner - what is your opinion on this? Is there much English penetration in Shenzhen?

But more seriously, I wouldn't say China is the best place to find such wife material, there are other places to be sure, and China has its own drawbacks like the other contenders (Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, etc.)

I do think you can pull an 8. I did and I know other guys who have. Knowing more mandarin would definitely be helpful. But more helpful would be a demonstrably serious attitude towards these girls (and marriage) because they'll assume you're a player. They all assume this, and though there is a "moth to the flame" issue for Chinese girls and foreigners, some are able to avoid the flame. Just anecdotally, one of the best looking girls (to me) that I know in SZ (1) speaks english, (2) dated this nerdy non-rich California dude who used to live in SZ, and (3) doesn't seem, from how well I know her, to be a materialistic bitch (any more than your average girl from America or elsewhere).

It is true that poor girls can be a bit dull - in fact I would not say many Chinese girls that I've met are particularly "Deep". They tend to be interested in the same things. I got lucky with that as well, but my gal grew up in Taiwan. She's atypical in many ways, though deep down, she's Chinese (her Dad's family is from Jiangxi, in South China), and she didn't grow up in Taipei, so no attitude whatsoever.

Can't say I really agree with that. Like I said in the Chengdu thread, I think the majority of girls here are pretty average to ugly. Rarely see 8/10+. It's kind of a disappointment. Clever is being a bit strong in his opinions, but there is definitely some truth to it, and as I said before, I definitely agree that its not only the "poor" girls that are dull. Most are interested primary in money and what they put in their mouths, or clear symbols of wealth like cars or pocketbooks or tech gadgets. Of course, that's not all, but I'd say easily more than half.

With respect to the marrying thing in China, I read something recently about Thailand, which is probably true about most Chinese girls you might consider marrying. They'll care about you (and damn sure will care that you truly care about them, and make an issue of it to make sure you do, annoying as that may be), but they'll probably show more interest in their families and particularly their parents. It will often feel like you are second best to their family (as I read about the girls in THailand). Its perhaps not as extreme in China, but what they call "filial loyalty" is an extremely significant cultural trait in China as well.

The "mixed blood babies thing" is out of hand in China. It seems so friggin shallow to me, but its definitely a factor - having a mixed blood baby - you can read what I previously wrote in this thread about beautiful mixed blood babies, who are so desired that a man might even marry a girl who had a mixed blood baby notwithstanding the recently announced and departing one child policy.

What I suggest is what I always suggest - experience it and find out for yourself. On your next vacation, come to China and spend some time in a city or two. Live in it, check it out, see what you think. Then you can worry about planning the rest of your life after thirty living here - until then, its just conjecture. And if you don't like it, write it off as an interesting vacation destination. It's definitely interesting and has its attractions. Its also definitely not for everyone.

I cannot think of a single reason why I'd want citizenship in China. Its possible, I know a guy who married a Chinese girl and became a citizen. Why? No fucking idea. I guess he didn't have a lot of choices in life. Business can be done - if you want to do business in China, become a HK resident and you can get easy visa rights to access China, and even live here, without a problem.

generally speaking, you can tell how materialistic a girl is based on where shes from. in a place like shenzhen or shanghai youll have far more people who care about nice cars and mazeratis. of you go to liaoniang, youll find girls that are far more down to earth, practical, appreciative, and rockin unshaved armpits. upper class and middle class girls get what they want. theyre used to a certain standard of living, and if yiu are too far below, their parents wont allow her to marry you.
case in point: i knew a migtant girl in hangzhou, late 20s, killer body: white skin, northern face, the whole works. she wanted a foreigner, didnt care who, to take back to dongbei to have a kid with and help her take care.of her ageing parents. she would dote on said foreigner and help him out uowever he needed it. but it didnt matter who as long as his skin was white.
a girl from taiwan would be different, more culturally western and maybe even japanese. all taiwanese ive met si far have been adorable in personality, even if physically unattractive.

To follow up on some of what I am reading on this page. My friend who I visited in SZ and is still there is in a relationship with a girl who wants him to put on weight. She says he is to attractive and wants him to gain some pounds. Hes is a tall good looking white guy...no homo. She is pretty wealthy as is her family. She pretty much pays for his apartment and everything in it and is pushing him to marry her. I has an experience today that I think is instructive at least as an indirect opener, or more precisely, a way to get opened in China yourself.

I just began taking formal Chinese lessons, and received a text book today, my first day of classes. No joke, I got so many looks and got opened by curious girls (and guys in a friendly way) on a short trip home from my class to my apartment. I would heartily suggest studying Chinese or learning some (I studied on my own, but wanted to now start formal lessons) but even if you can't do that, walking around with an oversized Chinese textbook is to me, a surefire way to engage interest with which you can open or even get opened by girls. Of course they won't all be acceptable, but you can filter.

I don't want to create a bull rush, but its a hot day in Shenzhen, so the short-shorts are out in full force. Very few girls with good figures (of which China is plentiful) are not wearing them. Legs everywhere. I have to say, for Shenzhen, the Starbucks (and mall nearby) at Coco park has as much talent in one place as I've ever seen in Shenzhen. Tons of quality looking thin petite (short and tall) girls for all tastes. Coming here might be the only hame one would have to do in China. This is the new middle class here, able to spend 25- 37 RMB (around 4- 6USD) for a coffee drink. Its probably at a tipping point before the obesity issue starts to really kick in, though given Chinese allegiance to their traditional diet, it will take time. Nonetheless, its pretty darn bountiful in Shenzhen right now. I'd say, today, I've seen more girls 6+ then 6- in the 18-35 year old range, and lots higher than that. I may start posting pictures, as I've heard to many times that Chinese girls have no bodies, are ugly, banged out, whatever. Or maybe we should just keep in on the low.

I'm thinking of going to Shenzhen for a few weeks to see what it's like and how it compares to Shanghai.

Sounds like Coco Park is the prime location for both day game and club game, so I'm looking at rooms to book in that area. I'm wondering if anyone has ever had a problem bringing girls back to your hotel rooms there... Some reviews I've been reading are making it sound like the hotel lobby employees strongly monitor any guests you try to bring in.

I also understand Coco Park is a high traffic, busy area... i.e. lots of noise. Is booking there for close logistics ultimately worth it, or would I possibly be better off somewhere else?

To otherwise answer you, though, Coco is good for somethings, not for others. I don't think day game in SZ needs to be confined to a particularly location. Coco park (actually which is a shopping mall, on the south side of Fuhua Rd., the north side has all the bars and nightclubs, actually) is a good choice, but its more mixed and group sets, which actually can be ok, but I actually, myself prefer single girls alone, not in a set. Depends on your chinese or their english as well of course.

At night, and I am sure I am repeating myself, to find girls who speak english in the east part of Shenzhen (not Shekou), Coco Park is the epicenter. Not necessarily the best looking girls, but the most concentrated place for a guy speaking no Chinese to encounter girls who can understand him. The bars in Luohu, I find, have the best looking girls in concentration in Shenhen, but you'll need some Chinese, and preferably, a wing who speaks more Chinese than you.
