Is it possible to purchase cryptocurrencies in retirement accounts?

My 401(k) is controlled by mutual fund managers, but my Roth IRA is up to me.

It isn't a terribly large amount of money, and I won't be able to access it for over 30 years. If I lose 100% of the current balance, I have a very long time to right my ship. It is money I really can afford to lose.

I figure why not dump it all into a cryptocurrency basket. Currently I'm trading using etrade - happy to switch brokerages to make this happen. Any ideas?

You're paying a steep premium for it, but if the only investable funds you have available are in your retirement account, I suppose that's the only way to do it.

I have a Quest Self-Directed IRA:

You can invest in crypto, but Quest will NOT hold coins for you. You can either:

1. Set up a separate wallet under an LLC yourself

2. Pay an advisor or company to do it for you
