What do you think are underpaid professions?

Underpaid

Teachers
Cooks
Veterinary technicians (little known profession, but my ex was one and was coming home with numerous cat scratches, dog bites etc all for a whopping....$15/hr)

My bias: I work as a cook and I feel horribly underpaid. I feel that pro cooks (not burger flippers, line cooks in real restaurant kitchens) are some of the most hard-working yet completely unappreciated laborers in today's society, especially considering how much North Americans love to eat out.

I wouldn't say teachers are underpaid whatsoever. Educators make up 12% of millionaires.

I believe they are referring to administrators not teachers. It's not abnormal for a high school principal to be raking in 6 figures. Board of Ed members often earn even higher.

Na, teachers are overpaid.

The only reason there is an assumption that they are underpaid is because at the K-12 level, there's a lot of females who bitch about having to do extra duties as part of their job.

Actually, at the income level they are typically at, working more than 40 hr weeks should be expected. And they get the entire summer off.

They make far too much money.

Front desk agents at a hotel. Not that it's super highly skilled, but they put up with a lot of bullshit. Guys working bell outside are making 2-5 times more than them and deal with half the stress. Some places though front desk agents can make bank. I did it in Miami and made between $500-1000 a week, not bad money. But a large chunk of that came from commissions for selling tours for another company.

hahahaha I love that gif, but I was referring to Nursing in the U.K maybe in the U.S they are paid a ton, over here, they pay on different bands of pay scales

http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/working-in-...pay-rates/

Band 1&2 is just ridiculous.

Executive Office of the President of the United States. Maybe being underpaid is why the current one is doing such a piss poor job?

Some larger hotel chains pay pretty well...starting $15-$17. This may come as a surprise to many, but I think waiters are generally underpaid considering they are paid well-under minimum wage and rely on tips to make up the difference. Doesn't apply to hot female waitresses, since they are going to get tipped well by men almost no matter what.

In the US, there's a certain type of customer (usually fat white woman) who wants nothing more than to confuse the waiter so they get a free meal. When that doesn't work, then there's something wrong with the steak being too well done or not well done enough, or the hot sauce isn't the right one. I'm sure this is true worldwide, but it's huge in the US.

Combatants in the military. As a bit of a counter point, there's a fair chunk military personnel that are overpaid. Some of the Pog population. They get a lot of the same benefits of people who were actually deployed or in combat zones and have jobs that are basically the same as civilian gov't jobs. One girl I know in the navy says she plays Candy Crush for about 5 hrs/day.

In all seriousness, I agree with cooks. It pays off once you become a chef but that's like 5-10 years of misery before you get to that level.

I'd say a lot of hospitality is undercompensated, and it's always the untipped staff that gets screwed. Housemen that work in hotels get worked to the bone and don't see much in return.

Not sure how much grocery store cashiers make but that seems like a pretty awful job, and I can't imagine it pays much more than minimum. I always have a huge amount of respect and appreciation for the cashiers that can keep a smile on their face and make an effort at genuine interaction after all the assholes they deal with.
