Tallinn, Estonia - Criminally Underrated

I spent 5 days in Tallinn, Estonia. Here are my impressions;

I came directly from Helsinki, where it was expensive, feminist, and bitchy. Tallinn was the opposite. Affordable, traditional, and very friendly. The weather in both cities is 2nd worst I've experienced in the world (Iceland was 1st).

I took the Viking ferry. For about $40 USD, you get treated to a full on cruise ship, decked out with restaurants, bars, live music, on board entertainment, and even a few lone wolf HB's I was able to spit some game to.

A too short 2 hours later we were docked, and I taxi'd ($7 euros) to my downtown hotel, which looked more like an apartment, and for just $35 USD per night. It was a bargain. But that was only the beginning.

The City:

Tallinn might be the most underrated city on RvF. The best way I can sum it up would be FSU feel, but with a tier 1 attitude (in a good way). If I had to compare it to another European capital, I would say Prague. The avg monthly salary in Tallinn is $975. Compared to Kiev, where it's just $575. This makes a notable difference in local quality of life. It's higher in Estonia. It makes sense that they are part of the European Union. I can't imagine Ukraine getting to this level any time soon, corrupt as things are.

The center has 2 big indoor shopping malls (plus a big movie theater at Solaris mall ALL in English!), a nice park, and tons of nightlife options 7 days a week.

The Estonian language is a very cool sounding mix, with Russian & Scandanavian influence. The words are phrased in an interesting & weird way, without sounding totally alien like Finnish.

English speakers abound! Most people I spoke with in Tallinn were fluent in English. More so than Prague, Wroclaw, Kiev, and definitely more so than Helsinki. As an English only speaker, this was refreshing.

The food is good! Having come from Helsinki where it tasted like cardboard, and over priced. Tallinn food is affordable, and actually has flavor.

Safety was never an issue. Walking around dark streets alone at night felt as safe as anywhere else in the western world. The Old Town in particular is a World Heritage site. I have been to maybe a dozen "old town" neighborhoods around the world; Tallinn has the best one. Cobblestone streets, real medieval restaurants & pubs, overtly friendly locals who smile, and... super hot slavic blondes everywhere? Ok, let's get to the women already...

The Girls:

Do you like leggy slavic sex goddesses with beautiful eyes? (Greek Kamaki knows you do)
Do you like snow white nordic blondes?

If you answered yes, I am happy to report that Tallinn is a 50/50 mix of these two types. The Russian and Scandenavian gene pool converge here, making for a genetic cocktail that highlights the best of both worlds.

In Helsinki, yes you might see a rare disney princess looking hb10 blonde. But most will look more like frozen feminist yeti's. In Tallin, almost every regular girl is a 7 or 8, with many 9's, and you will most certainly see your share of dime pieces as well.

Tallin girls also dress up super sexy. The high heel factor is just as much as in Kiev. For overall feminine beauty, Kiev girls are still sexier by an edge. But Tallinn girls make up for it by dressing just as hot, while having many more natural blondes. Tallin girls are also skinnier on average, looking more like Polish Wroclaw girls as far as body type is concerned.

The gender gap in the Baltics and Ukraine is the highest in the world. Girls must dress up more here to successfully compete for men. It also helps explain the extended eye contact women will give you here.

Online game:

The was the most disappointing drawback for me. Tallinn has some of the lowest number of prospects available via online dating sites in Eastern Europe. I tried Mamba, VK, and a few niche' Estonian sites. People just don't use it much here for some reason. If it happens somewhere, I could not find it.

Night game:

Tallinn is a great city for night game! There must be 2 dozen night clubs and good bars all within walking distance of each other in the city center. They stay open late. I was only there during off nights, Mon-Thurs. There were always a few pairs of cuties inside, and were easy as pie for me to talk to, even without a wing. I didn't go out on the weekend, but by all accounts weekends in Tallinn are poppin'.

Hollywood club is a huge mega club. I went there Wed before midnight and got in free. The 2 sets were very friendly inside. The music was way too loud, and the girls too sober to get anywhere, but as Roosh suggests in Bang Estonia, just go there a little later in the night after the girls have had a few drinks. As friendly as these women are, I can only imagine how impressionable they would be after a few cocktails.

The main bar street is called Vaike-Karja. Look for the intersection of Suur-Karja on Google Maps, and there you have your spot if you're a bar/pub guy. There are half a dozen excellent options here, with girls every night of the week. Shooters, or "shotbar" has the most young university girls, but also lots of university guys and the most need for social circle infiltration. The other bars in this area have a mid 20's to early 30's demographic.

Day game:

I loved day gaming in Tallinn. Girls were exceptionally friendly. I encountered no bitchy or suspicious attitudes, as I did in Helsinki.

The best spot is in and around the large Viru shopping mall in the middle of town. This was my daygame ground zero. It has multiple train stops all around it, as well as a big adjacent park. It's a perfect setup.

The second best place is 2 blocks away, in and around the Solaris shopping mall, which is next to a university library, and a school. This mall is a little smaller. It also attracts a younger demographic. Be careful. Check for the girls shoes first. If she's wearing Converse or Keds, anything except high heels really, there's a good chance she's under age (at least by western standards). I had a few smoking hot blondes open well here, only to throw them back because they were 16 year old. All the makeup makes them look quite a bit older.

18 however, I have no problem with, and I met 1 who was notable. She was a cutie with long straight brown hair, and pretty brown eyes. She was seated on a bench inside the mall, just killing time after classes. Very Estonian looking face. I asked where a good coffee place was. She gave me directions, as well as solid attraction signals. I told her I had just come to town, and that she must be some kind of undiscovered tour guide. She laughed. Asked her if I could have a seat next to her, and she welcomed me to join her. Some rapport from our 15 minute sit down. Eventually I suggested we bounce to McDonalds.

We shared a tea, and we shared stories. She told me about about how her family was in state politics. Her last name apparently carried weight, because it got her into and out of a good bit of trouble. Some of her stories were pretty crazy. In my experience, daughters of such wealthy and/or powerful fathers can be a great adventure, but unlikely to ever get on lock-down for the long term. Fine by me. After a 3 hour insta-date, and holding hands while strolling Old Town, she asked me what was next. I told her, "I would invite you to my apartment to listen to some nice music, but I have work early, so you wouldn't be able to stay long". Her response, "Oh my...that would be wonderful [Image: smile.gif]" [Image: banana.gif]

Back at the hotel (which looks like an apartment), I led her by the hand to my room, and loaded up my insta-date Spotify playlist. It starts off with some fun high energy tracks to take the pressure off the situation, then gets progressively more down tempo & seductive, ending with Sade.

We would joke around about how Americans eat so much, and that I was invading her Old Town with fast food. Always a hit routine in Eastern Europe. Our bodies got closer. Then I grabbed a pillow, grinned like a bastard, and threw it at her head to break the tension. Denounced, she naturally threw one back at me, and we had an all out pillow war. After the melee, I claimed victory for the Allies, and we laid down and cuddled. She looked up at me and said, "I'm glad I met you today". [Image: heart.gif]

...then after a few articles of clothing on the floor later, her phone rang. It was mom. I could hear her yelling at her daughter in Estonian. Her words may have been an unknown language, but I still recognized them as the crushing of dreams. My brunette attempted negotiation, but her words were failing before she could even complete her sentences.

"Grrrr...my mom is so annoying. I'm sorry, but I have to go".

And so, my sweet Estonian Angel had to go, and I had to leave the city next day. I actually approached lots of stunners during my 4 days, and while they didn't lead to sex, I had a great time interacting with most of them. It's funny, because while I only kissed 2 girls in 4 days in Tallinn, it almost felt more fulfilling to me than the 4 lays I've gotten since coming back to Kiev (update on Kiev to come soon). My Kiev girls are hotter, but the dynamic is somehow less magical than the energy I felt from the women in Estonia. I can't quite explain it in this post. Maybe after some more time in both cities, I will know for sure what the difference is.

Bottom line:

I always try to grade a city by it's overall setup for a player, and not let my own personal success or failure in it cloud my judgement. During my 3 month European scouting tour, Tallinn might be my favorite city overall for girls, game, and quality of life, and I didn't even get laid there. The energy is just awesome. It's difficult to explain. I just remember walking around day gaming in the late afternoon, or Old Town at night, and having a huge smile plastered on my face due to all the hot, highly approachable talent. At one point I was just laughing to myself at the absurdity of so many hot blondes, dressed to the 9's, who are also nice and friendly.

Bottom line, Kiev is still THE poosy paradise, but Tallinn might be my favorite when accounting for all other things. I could actually see myself living there full time, and being happy. I could never do that in Kiev. The weather is absolutely miserable in Tallinn, and online game is almost non-existant. But everything else? It's just about everything a player could ask for.

Gender gap thing is bullshit. It only opens up in later age groups, who the fuck cares if there are way more women than men in 50-80 age group.

And yeah estonian girls are solid.

I agree. Although I was only there for two nights, the amount of talent there was absurd. Alcohol was so much cheaper than Finland also. As much as I loved Finland, Estonia had a much greater effect on my perception of Eastern Europeans girls. Estonians are generally friendly people and that social awkwardness that most Finnish girls have is negated in Estonia.

I'd have to completely disagree with this. Estonia is literally the only country I've been to where I had several BAD meals, and I am far from a picky eater.

Helsinki has bad food? You ought to eat at Olo Rivintola. It'll set you back a good $150 USD, but that was one of the best meals of my life. That's not the only place in Finland with a Micheline Star rating. Helsinki has incredibly good food, you just have to drop a few bucks.

That being said, Tallinn is awesome. Some seriously good looking box in Estonia.

Good report. My theory on the lack of people on online dating sites is that the country is so small, so people are embarrassed to put their profile up. There's a high chance a friend or coworker would see it.

Yea.. for 150$ you would expect to get good meal. On the other hand, I was out eating in Tallinn yesterday, 2 people, both had entrees, mains, juice and 2 beers. Total 20 euros. It was very good and trendy eating place.

Glad you enjoyed, sorry about the misleading party information, it wasnt that good as I thought [Image: biggrin.gif]

Hello folks - gravedigging this thread as I'm headed to Tallinn for about 10 days in mid-June.

As with many of the members here I own my own business which has me on my laptop for a few hours each day, so I tend to work out of coffee shops and whatnot. I'm staying in Old Town which seems to have enough of what I need, venue-wise. Of course, as soon as the day's work is complete it's time to start ingratiating myself with the locals, so if you have any updated tips or advice outside of what has been posted above I would appreciate it.

I'm also going to rent a car to take a day or weekend trip or out to wherever it is Estonian women hit the beach. If you have info about Pärnu or other similar areas, please let me know. If you're going to be in Tallinn in June, let's meet up!

Brilliant to read this CR, have been considering going over to Tallinn during the Summer. Buddy of mine is a native so I could have a wing for a few days. Glad to hear the main bar district is located in close proximity to one another. I'm sure the price has risen a little bit in the two years since your post as the Estonian economy has been very strong. Mostly likely during August as I need to get some cash together and sit a few exams (main goal at the moment).

Can anyone recommend an area to get a private flat/studio for 15 days to 1 month towards the end of Sept / early Oct? The center of Tallinn (Old Town) seems to be the most expensive as the following website shows 50 EUR/day as the going rent on avg. Is this normal?
http://www.city24.ee/

Areas 1 and 2 in the map below seem to the cheapest options but Area 1 looks a bit rough on Google Street View and it's a 10 min walk to Old Town. Area 2 is close to the ferry terminals, kind of far away from the action. The benefit of Area 1 is that it's close to the daygame venues mentioned above but far away from the pubs on Suur-Karja. What area is the best to stay and what price should I expect to pay? Is it worth paying more to say in Old Town to make it easier to get a chick back to the flat?

That is a normal price for old town. I stayed in old town and spent 85 or so euros a night for my apartment right in downtown. I would spend the extra money and make sure to stay there, there are so many bars in old town and you want to be able to walk back to your pad with the girl. Otherwise you will have some logistical issues.you mentioned in your post that the area seems rough. From my experience, everywhere I went in Estonia was much safer than my hometown Los Angeles. Don't let the old buildings and architecture scare you, I felt extremely safe. Although I would recommend shelling out a few extra bucks and staying in old town, there's not really an experience like it.

Thanks. Another reason why I wasn't sure about Old Town was that Courage had another post about Prague where he wrote that its Old Town was filled with tourists with very bad ratios.

I wouldn't mind meeting female tourists from Finland but google streetview shows tons of families in Old Town. Hence the question about staying near the daygame venues near the malls.

All these areas are really close to the old town: it would take you some 15 minutes to get in from areas 2,3,4 and perhaps 20 from area 1. It's a small city.

The other major real estate portal is: http://www.kv.ee/, do your homework and you can find places that rent flats for short term as low as 500€ per month, especially when the tourist season is fading. Of course you might be aiming for something with more status.

I stayed in zone 3 in January. Paid aboudt $20 per night for a nice modern studio. Took 10 minutes to walk to old town and was right next to a mall. I would stay there again. I walked home with my only bang from the Old Town. So logistics will be good.

Is it worth visiting even though its got a Tiny population?

That's what I'm hoping for! But this was in January....What site did you use to book your flat? I'm going to wait until fall to book because my bet is that the rates go down after the summer flock fly back. I'm looking at Area 3 as well - the two malls are located on the border of Areas 3 & 4, near the university library. Thanks!

I would just like to second this post. A very underated place.

I am English and from London and it's not very expensive to get to Tallin - and it's beautiful (cold) but the women are beautiful and warm [Image: wink.gif]

I would say that there is an element of social circle in Tallin - I went to a great club and most people were in social groups - but - when they found out we were from London they came over.

My friend who I would say is a low 8, cleaned up on the day game. Another friend, who is Irish and a 5-6, also one-nighted a 9 - he was just persistent.

In all, a place very worth a visit. We stayed in the city centre which feels more like a small town, and it was very cheap too.
