Is NYC Metro area worth it if you do not have access to Manhattan?

For scoring, what would the best area of Manhattans be to live in when visiting for a week or so?

I know Hen swears by the East Village. Kid Strangelove holds Meatpacking district above all others. At the same time I hear people saying how Downtown and Park Ave are those adress that just gush of status.

So what would the rest of you say?I've been doing fine in Midtown but from what I understand it's not the most natural place to just get a night cap.

BTW guys, NYC is really good in early June but then a lot of the action moves to either the Hamptons or the Jersey Shore for the bulk of the summer.

If we did a meetup in Seaside Heights or Belmar it would be insane, some of the easiest women I have ever met in my life.....It's "Snooki's" X 10.....

I would recommend mon-thurs partying in manhattan, then for the weekends hitting the beaches...

Dewey Beach in Delaware is also insane, surprised none of the DC guys ever mentioned it.....

Yes, and everyone balks at my summer-time dry spells in NYC.

Gmanifesto would probably do well in a place where custom suits signify real value. In general, that is not the case in places like North West Brooklyn, the hipster enclave.

Soho? You are competing with Lady Gaga, and Robert Deniro...Probably 3-10K easy. lol

Sounds good.

Any buildings you recommend?

The landlords are also super strict in Manhattan.....sometimes asking 3-4 months downpayment.

I have not problem with that, but I want to stay for a month. Thoughts?

And forget about bringing a car to Soho.

Never even considered it.

For a guy like me who is earning $60-75K, I would only be able to swing the upper east side. The upper east side has a ton of bars, and you can get to soho in 10 minutes.

I never thought about Upper East Side. Are there any advantages besides cost?

Don't go to the upper east side. There is no culture at all except for old people and museums that tourists go to.

G, I think you'd be good in NYC if you made contacts with some promoters and get into their clubs downtown.

I've pulled plenty of times in Midtown.

Whether it was shooting pool at Whiskey Park, hitting Stone Rose for Happy hour, or late night scooping at Lavo.

If you've got a promoter or you're connected, Meatpacking can be like shooting fish in a barrel as well.

I've pulled from WIP (hot dominican within 15 minutes), Gvoort Rooftop, Kiss and Fly, and HLB.

EDIT: I've posted this elsewhere as well. But just avoid the girls that start asking what you do, where you went to school, etc. right off the bat. They are degree hunting and generally not worth the time unless you completely bullshit and swoop them to a fly appt on CPS.

There is perhaps no better day game spot in the world when the weather is warm. However, I feel like SoHo or E Vill depends on the poster's game competency. You are running into 9's and 10's who have their shit together in SoHo. This could be a tough nut to crack unless you're anything but sharp.

Though, I would live in SoHo just to to have a coffee and croissant at Balthazar every day.

Do some warm up approaches in Times Square and Central Park on the tourists then.

Hell I've even been indirectly approached at both these places. Shouldn't be too hard. Its all about motivation and logistics really...

Love the vibe and feel of Mercer Street, Layfette Street, then you have those gritty/hipster places like St Marks place, that's the thing about NY, almost every block is different so you'll find what your niche.

Where do you guys go in Soho?? It's mostly shopping and condo's.

I need to make an attempt at a NYC data sheet soon since I am in manhattan 5 times a week...

The great thing about manhattan is that there are SOOOO many different parts that you can find whatever you want....

To generalize:

Meat packing/gaanavort=Trendy, not very local, good for 9 and 10's

East Village=Very inexpensive, semi local/collegish, ton's of 5 to 7's

Upper east side/Midtown East= After work, yuppie, not every expensive

West Village=After 7th ave extremely gay....

Harlem=Up and coming, but no big deal

Lower East side= Too hipster for me, but it does get crowded.

Personally, If I had a gun to my head and had to get laid with only one night in NYC, I would go to the village. The liquor is cheap, and it will have the most "Quantity" of women.

One of my favorite places is called "Off the Wagon" on McDougal and W 4th. It is SUPPPPPER inexpensive, and it gets a ton of turnover due to it's location. Are their supermodels? Not usually, but its packed every wed-sat with tons of 5 to 7's.

Midtown East= Thurs, and Fridays after work you have "McFadden's", "Calico Jack's", "Sutton Place" and "Turtle Bay". Those places usually get pretty jam packed.

I can't take it, my attempt at NYC date sheet coming next week...

Power out

G break down how you roll in Soho. What nights, what places, venue vibes etc.

I've never rolled down there except during the day.

I've never rolled down there except during the day.

Here are my spots: http://www.thegmanifesto.com/2011/12/new...heets.html

I haven't been since October of last year.

Kenmare was super sick back then. Is it still open?

I always eat dinner then roll around and swoop. Custom Suited of course.

Places I always hit no matter what:

Raouls - Love this spot.
Balthazar - The only place I maybe love more than Raouls.
Mondrian Hotel Bar - Good warm up spot. Slide up to the two fly girls at the bar.
Soho Grand Hotel - Dope. I always seem to get into some Skullduggery here.
Circa Tabac - You can smoke in here.
Cipriani - Goddesses.

As far as which nights? I think you can hit these places any night of the week.

For instance, I have met Model girls at Raouls at 10pm on a Sunday night.

These places are IronClad G Manifesto Certified™.

Do this tomorrow night:

1. Mondrian Hotel Bar - get a cocktail. Spit Game.
2. Balthazar - sit at the bar, get some Steak Tartare and Oysters. Spit Game.
3. Lure Fish Bar - Jump in and grab a cocktail. Spit Game.
4. Cipriani - Get a cocktail. Go upstairs. Can be a rough door, but it won't stop someone of your caliber.
5. Soho Grand Hotel - Spit
6. Kennmare (If it is still dope?)
7. Go with the flow

Epic Night or your money back.

(Side note: This is how I roll. The places are all close and stack up one after the other. My Game is all about these types of packaged moves™. All walkable, all smooth, all dope, non stop, til the break of dawn.)

Tell me how it goes.

One thing that I didn't understand about your New York information was the part about the Dream Hotel. You mentioned the Dream location on 16th Street. There is another Dream on 55th Street. The location on 55th has a good lounge and rooftop which are open every night. The location on 16th also has a lounge and rooftop, but I don't think the lounge is open some nights and the rooftop is a gay bar at least some nights. Did you mean the Dream location on 55th? If not, did you go to the location on 55th?

True, it's perfect if you're into the uber hipster crowd, every second shop has huge arrays of bongs and piercings and the smell of weed is pretty strong.

heh, I miss NY!

Dream rooftop in meatpacking (16th) is PHd. Place has model talent on the reg.

Lobby usually has legit talent pouring through as well. Door is tough unless you got the promoter connect.

I usually hit STK for apps/drinks with a few chicks then roll over to Phd.

It's pretty good on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I've seen it pretty dead on some weeknights.

I don't agree with this that you have to live in Soho. All you have to do is live downtown: West village, greenich village, east village, soho, nolita etc. It makes very little difference apart from the price you pay. I was living in one of the above and I could walk to all the other areas within about 10 minutes.

If you're in mid-town or uptown then it's a cab or subway so you loose the convenience.

Fair enough.

I was just saying where I would live.

It is not a "Soho or die" scenario at all, and I didn't mean it to come off that way.

Hell, you could live in Chinatown or Little Italy and still be super close. That would probably be dope.

What are rents in Chinatown and Little Italy? Any NYC experts know?

I see where you're coming from.

None of those areas are that cheap anyway so you will still be paying a lot but the basic point is that most of the action is downtown so ideally you want to try to live close to the action.
