RVF Siberian Meet Up: Autumn 2013

Just reading some posts on the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships in Russia. There are some Canadians headed over for the tournament and one guy comments this:

Quote:Quote:

I lived in Sochi, Russia for three years and travelled extensively by train which I really enjoyed (cheap as dirt). This way you are not dictated by a tour company schedule; your time is your own. I chuckled when I read some comments of guys taking their girlfriends, reminds me of the saying; would you take a ham sandwich to a banquet?

Visas, Visas, Visas guys. Has anyone gotten, or know of anyone who's gotten a new visa with the more extended stay authorization ?

All this fantasizing and planning doesn't work for me if I can only get a one month visa.

So you will make plans if you hear about a guy I know who knew a guy that heard of a guy that got one?

Not sure what you're getting at, I just got back 5 months ago from several months in Ukraine, which was my 5th or 6th visit to EE/Russia.

Not trying to be mean, but I' ve been successfully "making plans"--as you put it, and carrying them out regarding travel there ( except getting a LTR hahah) since probably before you reached puberty.

And since my level of knowledge about anyone who's gotten one of these new visas is unfortunately zero, hearing about a friend of a friend of a friend that had gotten a three-year visa would be very valuable information.

That would put us two email links away from the source of one of these visas.

The reason I am very focused on this is that I recently got a "visa invitation" letter ( for Ukraine) from an agency for which I paid $100+. Ukrainian rules specify you can apply for up to a 2 year visa. At the consulate the guy ( I think he was #1 or #2 there, possibly the consul general) looked at it literally for about 2-3 seconds and immediately dismissed it; they didn't even accept my visa application to look at.

He was a good-looking young guy-- obviously connected as he was posted in one of the most desirable cities in America-- and asked me "What are you going to be doing there?" As if the invitation meant nothing. He has the interests of his country to keep up, and if I said I was investing millions it might have made a big difference but I couldn't. He was obviously suspicious of me.

Also, I should add as there have accusations of racism against Slavs, that I am caucasian, was suited up, and not wearing dreadlocks or looking weird in any way.

So what is written in law in Slavic countries is not necessarily what will happen in real life. It's not like the DMV in some US state where if you have your papers you will almost certainly get your license plates.

We need to have at least some examples of success to have any confidence the bureaucracy will do what it's supposed to, especially when you ask for a multi-year visa that they know damn well you are not doing big business there with. I assume people who get posted to the USA in their equivalent of the USA State Dept. are very, very elite, like Harvard grads here with big shot parents and they are not stupid at all.

And we need those examples and procedures and hopefully a proven process with a invitation source in place at least several months, preferably 6-8 months in advance, so we don't end up with "We wanted to go to Siberia, but they fucked us over on the visas, man"

As military guys say "Proper preparation prevents piss poor results."

Incidentally, I started a blog which will be open only to people seriously into this trip.

When I figure out what the hell I am doing I will close it off so PM me for invites if you're interested.

I won't discriminate against assholes because I am one.

But I'm an asshole whose plans happen.

Yes an agency that I called said there would be no problems getting my Visa in Ecuador and for 100 dollars they would send me a letter of invitation. But until I go to the Russian embassy there in 3 weeks, I am not starting to learn Russian yet. I will know by January if I can make this wonderful trip happen.

I understand your concerns but don't think you need to have any.

The situation as I see it is this: Before the ( apparent ) simplification of the visa process for Americans it was easy for you guys to get visas from one month to a year allowing a stay of 3 consecutive months. Now the word is that things have become easier, not harder. Therefore surely if you could get one before you can still get one now? It won't have become harder.

The easy way to find out is to email these guys who I get my Russian visas from and ask them if they can arrange a visa for you as a US passport holder. They will either say yes and tell you what you need to submit to them or say no and explain why not.

Out of curiosity, checked to see the weather report for Novosibirsk and right now it's -16C and over the weekend, it'll reach -30C. On Tuesday, it shows that the temperature will fluctuate between a low of -28C and a high of -4C. That's quite a big fluctuation in one single day. I understand our plan is for Sept-Oct but for those that like to stay longer, in Nov and beyond, it's pretty darn cold. Some food for thought....

I will be there in August and plan a 3 month stay. Probably in August the city will be pretty dead in terms of girls, but i detest the cold, so November is a no no for me.

So I've been known to visit some cam sites from time to time (I know I know I know)...well last night I met a chick from Ekaterinburg. She couldn't understand why I'd want to visit there (obviously) and she said it was pretty bad there. No men suitable for her...she said they "preferred vodka over working" and got excited when I told her I be visiting Siberia next year. Gave me her personal email and started trying to teach me Russian. [Image: lol.gif]

She basically told me what I'd expect to hear from a local girl. No decent guys. Said the clubs aren't very good "clubs in nyc must be much better you should go there". And got all excited to hear that an American may be visiting.

I also know a girl from Novosibirsk on the site...and she also gave me the "why would you come here" response, but she did say that it should be no problem to find a nice apartment there (airbnb clearly isn't the method).

"...it's the quiet cool...it's for someone who's been through the struggle and come out on the other side smelling like money and pussy."

And this is coming from an 8-9. She's obviously interested in the wealth and stability that an American offers. These Siberian girls need you to feed them, not to get them fat, but to keep them alive!

Good research carter. That is what we will have to do to pick a city. Pipeline and see where we get the most positive responses from Russian women and the most negative comments about the men there. That always correlates well with a pussy paradise.
I will give Brazil as an example of how we should want to choose a city in Russia. Natal and Joao Pessoa are just 3 hours away, but I can already tell that JP is better because of the fewer tourists they receive. Girls in Natal expect an Italian or Paulista since so many come here. In January, once I start learning Russian I will investigate several cities online and talk to their women and will let you guys know the data.

Good stuff Carter. Out of curiosity, which site did you use for the cam girls? lol
I also hate with a passion the cold and wouldn't want to be ever in a cold place again. Btw, where in Brasil are you now CM? Still in Manaus?

Lots of sexual guys hate the cold, I can understand but it also means:

More chance of Poosy Paradise for me!!

The more abasaabsolutely freezing it is, the more hot blonds..that's what evolved the blond hair I guess...

And I would consider the cam-girl reports, but also consider the source: here's a girl that will compromise her sexuality for easier money...so they want the most sexually fucked-up (for men) but wealthy culture outside of moslem countries...= Anglosphere. Most with a lot of deep social ties aregoing to be more hesitant to condemn their homeland.

Timely post by Roosh that is relevant to our interests: http://www.rooshv.com/not-all-second-tie...ated-equal

Bottom line: while some out of the way place may have more girls and they may be excited to meet Americans (or whatever), if you a) can't communicate, and b) there ain't shit to do, those who plan to stay for a long time may not have a good a time.

That's where having a small group partially mitigates these concerns. I may not want to spend a few months alone in Siberia...but with a few others you can entertain yourselves easier and have people to speak English to when it seems like no one around understands you. Plus, if you're trying to learn some of the language, nothing better than total immersion where you have to choose between attempting their language or using gestures.

If I really wanted to go all out and do a year or something in Mother Russia, I'd probably do a Siberian city A>Moscow>Siberian city B>St. Petersburg type of rotation spending a few months in each spot to keep things fresh and dynamic.

Natal, but I am not so happy here. Manaus was an oven and not a very pretty city, but the women are underrated....i.e. there is less obesity than the rest of Brazil.

I am Canadian but have never traveled to Russia before. I think people here are blowing this visa issue out of proportion. People from most countries must obtain a visa to visit the developed countries of the world. It's just that people from the West are unfamiliar with the process since they either don't travel at all, or only travel to "safe" countries that don't require visa's.

A three month tourist visa should be sufficient for the goals of this trip, unless people want to start teaching, doing serious business or stay longer than three months. As long as you have a plan, reasonable finances and return ticket in order I doubt the Russians will be interested in denying an average Canadian or American a visa and/or entry.

Wow, long post. You sound like a fun guy.

You must be one seriously old man if you were traveling when I was in puberty.

I lived in Ukraine for over a year without planning.

WWTraveler,
That's awesome that you lived in Ukraine for a year. Would love to hear more about it. Could you post your thoughts on your experience there as far as living there, the women, their attitude and overall vibe you got there? It'd very interesting!

Cheers!

Choche,
What's the matter with Natal? Girls not friendly? Rude/arrogant displaying fattitude? Or not enough talent there...I heard Natal has good talent. Have you been to Recife which is not far? Another place I've heard a lot of praises from both Brasileiros and gringos is Belem where I hear girls are very easy going, sexy as hell (Google Banda Calypso which is HUGELY popular there and girls love to dance it wearing those uber sexy short shirts/mini skirts...[Image: banana.gif] ). And best of all, girls are almost as slutty as in Manaus. [Image: wink.gif]

Is getting a visa to Russia harder than getting one to India or China? I got those without any problems, although the China visa restricted me to a 30 day continuous stay (although it was 1 year multi-entry). I don't anticipate Russian visa issues.

VP it is not bad in Natal, but it is no pussy paradise and too many tourists. Yes Belem might have been a better choice. Also, the logistics in Natal arent so good. It is more spread out than Joao Pessoa and the girls have bigger bitch shields.

Logistics is 50 percent of the game at least. Here in Natal I havent had any girl meet me the first time, at the best beach where I am living.... since it is relatively far for most. In Joao Pessoa the main beach where I was living, was easier to get to and 50 percent of the girls would meet me there
The same applies to Russia or anywhere. Have to find a city with good logistics.

That's the spirit. I lived in northern midwestern USA. Almost as cold as Siberia.

I had one of my best experiences in Russia, walking through the icy woods from the railroad station to the soviet apt blocks with a sweet young Dyevachka, pinning her up against a the and kissing her in the sub-zero cold.

I may move there semi-permanently.

Russia has to be experienced with snow on the ground. Russian women in their fur coats and boots is a sight to behold. Something about that image just does it for me,more so then in summer when they wear next to nothing.

What I have found about Russian winters is that despite the cold they are very tolerable due to the fact that the skies are mostly blue and clear and there is no wind. Give me that over a British one where you have to struggle home whilst being battered by wind rain and sleet.
