Miami & Fort Lauderdale: Mini-data sheet

Fort Lauderdale (FLL) & Miami

First, nothing I can write on this topic is going to top what has been written by our South East Florida experts. Mixx in particular has tons of info on Miami for instance. His archive are getting a bit dated however and I run a different flavour of game so I feel I can make some contributions on the topic.

Know that I did not intend to make this trip to Southern Florida. I was supposed to go to New York where I had some titanic pipelining already laid (I was getting sext by former pro-athletes and body paint models even before arriving). Hurricane Sandy changed all this however. So of the week I spent in this place I had to do a lot of my research on the ground. This really activated me and got me down in the trenches quick but also cost me time as I hit some duds.

Points to consider before going to South East Florida
- You need to bring a car. FLL and Miami is a very cosmopolitan area that you’d think was the same city if you missed the road signs. It is however very spread out. Even though you might be living right on Ocean Drive in South Beach the talent you meet can be from all over and the locals seem to consider 1 hour driving an acceptable dating distance. This is not like NYC or Chicago where a 15 min train ride will take you to all the places you need to reach.

- You need to be in shape. Usually I don’t hold this point so highly but in southern Florida you can not be in bad shape if you want to seriously pull good quality talent. The women you’ll be wanting to get it on with put a lot of time to hone their bodies here, more so than I’ve seen in any part of the US I’ve visited (full disclosure: I haven’t been to Venice Beach).

- You speak spanish and want to specifically target latinas. This is the big one. Unless you don’t have a special thing for latinas you shouldn’t bother coming to Miami. In the 2010 census of Miami the percentage of people speaking spanish as a first language was 66.75%, ie 2/3. You could still chase white tail but there’s just no point to it as the critical mass isn’t there and hot white women will still be the most desired by the competition, putting their caucasian snatches on the proverbial pedestal. This is coming from a guy that does not speak spanish and is not particularly fond of latinas so believe me on this.

Day game:
My experiences here are going to divert a bit from previous info given by other posters. The general piece of advice seem to be to run day game on the beach. This is perfectly understandable, accepted by the public at large and you will have lots of targets. However, day gaming on the beach is also what everyone and his tame ferret is doing. You are going to be competing with guys that could have been plucked from Calvin Klein underwear commercials, groups of girls can hard to penetrate and bitch shields will be closer to what you have to endure in clubs than in regular day gaming. Me, I run more suit game or rather businessman game as I have evolved it into. But in Miami/FLL you can’t afford to ignore the beach. So with that said, what I’ll do is go big on social engineering and target tourists on the beach. Girls in vacation mode.

Mid Beach - day
Due to the above I’ll actually steer clear of South Beach where tourists and locals mingle and head up to Mid Beach around the Fountainbleu or Eden Roc hotels. These are both huge complexes (almost Vegas size) with many surrounding smaller hotels and little residential area which means the beach visitors are almost exclusively hotel guests. These hotels have good beach/pool bars, in particular La Cote at the Fontainbleu which also has live DJs some days of the week in the afternoons. I’m giving away too much right now but what you want to do is post up at the bar at La Cote. There’s a wing of the bar top where people have to pass to get to the restrooms from the pool and beach. This is the catbird seat, women pass by here pre-isolated and ready to be plucked as they come out. Make sure you order a drink and drop a tenner or so in tip to keep the bartender at your back rather than on your ass (I can’t take full credit for that move, if you’ve read the board you know where it belongs).

South Beach - day
If you must go to South Beach you are a bit more limited. Because the parks and depth on SoBe makes logistics more challenging for girls looking for a quick drink or restroom. Stay away from the public Ocean Drive restaurants/bars. These are all tacky tourist traps that serve huge size cocktails that are watered down. The only good thing these places provide is that you can spot the tourists by their huge cocktail glasses.

The Loews and Delano hotels both have pools/bars to the beach but these are private and fenced off, requiring room keys (cards really) to get in. I’m sharing too much here again but you can circumvent this by going around the hotels, walk in the front door and go straight through the hotel to the pool/bars. If someone stops you you should just casually mention that you’re having lunch here. If you have the balls for it, you can pre-empt by going right up to any security looking fellow the second you walk in the door, stare right at them as you approach and ask where the pool bar is at. Slip them a buck or so as you walk off to wherever they are pointing you, nothing too big or you’ll be overdoing it. You have to look like you belong to pull this off. Which is why I run businessman game because in my work outfit I own any place I walk into.

Downtown - day
You can still run day game away from the beach but you’re going to be a bit more limited. You’ll see bursts of activity around breakfast, lunch and after work hours and completely dead in between. I was walking down Brickell Avenue, which is one of the classiest streets in America, one weekday around 10am and the place was absolutely deserted. Add to it that parking here is a damn chore, especially on weekends when most public parking is closed.

The Gordon Biersch Brewery has real potential as you know anyone coming there will likely be drinking alcohol even for lunch. Post up early on the outside “patio” and watch as the place fills up around you at 11.30am while you still have full sight of the sidewalk. It’s located just in the middle of Brickell, next to a Starbucks and across from The Morton Steakhouse (which is good for a power lunch but not for gaming) so there’s hordes of people around you at the right hours. It’s mostly going to be educated women in business attire and the guys are going to outnumber them on a 3:1 ratio but as these chumps will not make any sort of move whatsoever the opportunities are actually abundant. In this setting around lunch it’s my experience that the stress factor can work in your favor. Nail the first 2-3 min and you’ll find that women has to move on but offer to give you their number to follow up later. These kind of numbers have far far less flake percentages than anything I’ve ever gotten from the beach anywhere in the world.

Anything I’ve said of Gordon Biersch also goes for Sushi Siam a few blocks north which is sandwiched between a café and a caribbean restaurant ensuring high traffic. People are far less likely to be drinking alcohol here however.

A couple of blocks west of Brickel and between 8th and 10th st you'll find Mary Brickell Village, which is a square of blocks with fashion boutiques, spas and small restaurants. This area will also be packed at lunch but I advise you to go here during the after work hours. The area is very relaxed and attracts people from all over downtown due to the proximity of the Metro Mover. At 6pm when the sun is still out the Blue Martini Lounge is quickly filling up with women coming off their shift wanting to unwind with a drink. They have happy hour at 5-7 which works in your favor. I didn’t have the opportunity to try out Balans in the same area but it was even more packed than the aforementioned bar.

FLL - day
You have to be on Beach Boulevard, no other area is as packed enough during the day to provide enough talent. Unlike Miami’s Ocean drive however the Beach Blvd is not as vehemently touristy and has more convenient beach access. The strategy lined out above for Mid Beach also works well in the Gallery by the Marriott Beach Towers/Ritz Carlton or by the W Hotel.

Night Game:
Doing night life in Miami you need to decide beforehand if you want to hit the Miami Beach Area or Midtown/Downtown. The causeways can get severely jammed during the evenings especially if the Heat are playing in town. So doing after work in one area and going out to the other for dinner/clubbing can be a real hassle. Know also that the locals seem to be more likely to go out in the area where they live and thus your logistics for an ONS will be far better if you target the area you’re staying at for night game.

Mid beach - night
Not much going on here at night. Between the two hotel complexes of Eden roc and Fontainbleu however you have a dozen restaurants and bars ALL filled up with tourists. Just start from one ends, venue change any biting talent to another bar/restaurant in the area a couple of times.

South Beach - night
While I prefer downtown over Miami Beach there are a couple of places in SoBe that are worth your while. Anything on Lincoln Road (mall) is sure to be thick with people most nights of the week. You have two ways to go by here. Sitting inside or out. Because it is more restaurants than true bars sitting inside you should be picky of what place to go with. Meat Market has a small bar but mega hot eastern european hostesses that will humble any other talent inside. The aptly named Score bar is a gay bar that I certainly wouldn’t recommend you visiting in late at night. But earlier in the evening this places has scores (no pun intended) of girls drinking and ogling the muscular bartenders. If you’re open minded and can lock the guys behind the bar down (it helps to be European I learned) it’s like bringing an assault rifle to a snowball fight. 5 Napkin Burger might not be the classiest of places but since it’s open until 1am Thurs-Sat it draws a lot of tipsy girls going for a late night meal. Emech deserves credit for giving me the idea to hunt here, something I would have never thought of otherwise. On a Saturday at midnight this place has a line almost through the door.

If you decide on sitting outside on Lincoln Rd the exact venue is not as important as much as the location of the table. I found that sitting on the southern side of the road with a table just by the walking street you can make a lot of very non-threatening advances on anyone passing. You’ll lose the convenience of the bar but your overall number of opportunities are going to be higher. Outside/inside on Lincoln Rd is about what philosophy you prefer, outside is more shotgun while inside is sniper.

Apart from Lincoln Rd there’s not much of value with regard to night game on SoBe if you ask me. Sure the Dutch or Wall lounge at the W hotel South Beach are guaranteed to have uberhot chicks in evening dresses and heels, but much of it is all flash. Many women are going to be escorted by designated cock blockers or are there just trying to upstage each other for attention from the more numerous thirsty guys. The same goes for famed Nikki Beach at South Pointe. Too low signal to noise ratio for me.

The one other place in SoBe I would recommend is Joe’s Stone Crab. A great restaurant in its own mind but superb for chatting up classy ladies waiting for a table at the bar. Come early at say 6pm and grab a good bar seat on the end farthest from the restaurant end. This is the catbird seat, restrooms are right behind you. You can also see anyone entering the restaurant on their way to the maitre’d to get on the wait list from here. The bar seats are also golden because in one hour the place will be packed at most nights. Joe’s takes NO reservation. This means that anyone showing up at 7pm are likely to wait 60-90 minutes for a table. By 9pm there are hundreds of people trying to fit in around the bar area. What you should be doing is to not even bother with a table and make do with the appetizers at the bar. People are going to rotate around you all night as everyone is just waiting for their tables. Lock down the bartender early because he’s going to be your best friend for the next 3 hours as people come and go in the seats around you. If you have the balls for it you will tell any dudes grabbing a seat next to you that they are taken and your company will join you soon. When hot babes arrive, the seats are magically free! You have to be prepared to stare people down that calls you on this though, not for beginners. That sharp dress and first name basis with the bartender will help out really well in that kind of situation.

The Forge and Prime 112 are worth a visit if you just want a great meal too.

Downtown - night
Where to begin? Around Brickell you have tons of superb restaurant and bars (many located in hotels) that attract women who enjoy meeting people in more elegant environments than the high energy setting of SoBe. Just my kind of place.

db bistro moderne is a Daniel Bouloud restaurant and served the best meal I had in the city. It’s not going to be for everyone, being very french and formal. But the food is on par with NYC fine dining. If you’re not into that the separate bar area is very swanky yet relaxed. The perfect place to bring a date. Sadly not as filled with talent as I would have wanted, shame really on a great venue but if you have a 2nd nighter here’s where you will seal the deal. The restaurant is located in the JW Marriott Marquis hotel which is very business focused and holds many events. Every night I passed there were model hostesses in the lobby ushering guests to the ballrooms. The hotel patrons and event goers are certainly not gaming them, you should.

Across the street you’ll find Zuma (japanese/sushi) and Area 31 (seafood) inside the Epic hotel. There’s one thing you know about classy sushi restaurants. They have a long sushi countertop to sit at and are packed with talent that wants to eat good but healthy, the latter usually translates to generally fit women. Go to it. At this place I picked up a local art dealer and magazine editor whose downtown apartment was one of the sickest I’ve ever seen. If I had more time in town I would have made her my sugar moma. Area 31 I include mostly for the food rather than the setting, the quality of the crustaceans are equal to Joe’s

Truluck’s across the drawbridge and down on Brickell is the opposite of Area 31. A place where I wouldn’t recommend the food but the setting. Come early and get a good seat at the bar. From there you’ll have front row to the live band that plays steamy lounge music and international hits. The desserts in this place are obscene, titanic portions of sugary cake and chocolate that it would take 4 men to finish. It’s the antithesis of the smaller but fantastic tasting portions of db bistro moderne, quantity vs quality. Beware, don’t let a date or target order these deserts, they’ll be out of commision for the rest of the evening afterwards.

Mary Brickell Village as mentioned early has a good number of lounges/bars. Don’t let it get too late here though. Once happy hour has passed and you don’t have a solid lead you need to venue change.

A good lounge which doesn't get too loud is Segafredo. Great steakhouses are Edge and Capital Grille. If you enjoy classic fine dining Il Gabbiano is a choice you can't go wrong with. All these last few places will attract talent with taste, class or escorting chumps paying for them.

FLL - night
In FLL you can be a lot more flexible than in Miami on where you choose to hang out. In fact, if a night starts out badly in FLL it’s only a 40 min drive down to downtown Miami, which is as much time as it will take to get out to Miami Beach on a gridlocked causeway from downtown.

Start out the night at G&B Oyster Bar on Seabreeze Av, the bar across from the parking is the most populated. Though the raw bar is more classy I can’t recommend it for sitting. Make sure you arrive early on the happy hour or you’ll be left standing. Bar seats are worth their weight in gold here. You have so many options! This will also give you eyes out through the open wall facing the parking lot and allowing you to keep track of anyone coming and going. You can pretty much interact with the entire room from a spot in the middle. Most people coming in stop by the menu located at the outermost end of the bar top, this gives you first dibs on anyone going inside. Or you have the option to get the catbird seat at the farthest part of the bar where everyone has to pass to go to/from the restroom.

As for the rest of FLL, pretty much everything Mixx says in this thread holds true: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-5432.html Especially concerning YOLO dinner lounge which has a bar that give you equally good coverage as in G&B.

Places to stay:
In short, if you’re on a budget you are going to be better off in FLL than Miami. Competition is also going to be lighter in FLL (with the quality of the talent correspondingly lower). Other than that Miami has the edge on FLL in just about every way. Still you shouldn’t disregard FLL, especially if you’re new to game and feel that you want something more mellow to the very intimidating Miami scene. In most places of the world I’d recommend you to stay in a rented apartment. Here in Florida you’ll do fine with a hotel however. Unlike say, Bangkok where hotel = sex tourist. If you have the game then being a visitor isn’t going to significantly hurt your chances. The locals can spot a tourist blindfolded anyhow they are surrounded by them 24/7.

Mid-Beach - lodging
As mention in the Mid Beach sections you can’t go wrong with either Eden Roc or Fontainebleu. They are wall-to-wall, very classy and big. There’s a lot of talent on hand in the immediate area in vacation mode. If you’re staying here you could in theory not even have to leave the area during your entire stay. These places are somewhat pricey though and has a lot of families which can be annoying at times. If you stay here, keep the hell away from the Valet where getting your care can take 45 minutes. Just north of Eden Roc there’s a public parking which might be costly to have your car at all day but will prove to be a far better logistical option than the overcrowded valet.

South Beach - lodging
You have hordes of options on Ocean Drive and Collins Ave, many that are well-priced genuine boutique hotels. My advice would be to stay closer to Lincoln Rd however which would make closing around there far easier. The Ritz-Carlton or Delano would be ideal but I realize they are not for everyone’s budget. These hotels have a good location while being reasonably priced:
http://jameshotelmiamibeach.com/
http://www.hotel18.net
http://www.winterhavenhotelsobe.com <-- Very nice boutique
http://www.bluemoonhotel.com/

Downtown - lodging
Any of the hotels mentioned in the downtown game sections above have great locations and are classy spots whose attached restaurants/bars provided ideal logistics. While these might be expensive they also carry a lot of complimentary amenities such as pool and gym that makes it worth it. Because of the Metro mover you could park your car way out at a cheap self park and not touch it for a few days by just concentrating on downtown. There’s also tons of great prix fixe lunch options. The pitfalls of eating around SoBe are absent in downtown.

A couple of budget options around Brickell that are still good:
http://www.fourambassadorshotel.com/
http://http://www.riverparkmiami.com

FLL - lodging
Anything on Beach Blvd or Las Olas will be fine. You have many more options at good prices here than you have in Miami. Don't be tempted by the W hotel. While the party might be on there at weekends and you can hunt out front during the day, it's far too dark and big. It can feel completely deserted and I suspect it onyl fills up truly during peak season. As mentioned The Marriott BeachPlace Towers has a gallery just out front with 4 floors of sport bars and beer joints. Behind it you'll find the classy boutique hotel The Pillars. If you REALLY want to get away cheap there's a Courtyard a few blocks south. The B Ocean hotel just north of Bonnet gardens manages to be a cool, modern hotel without feeling forced like the W.

Bits & pieces:
I haven’t made any mention of the Midtown club district. Mostly because I’m not into clubs unless someone’s got a table and are buying. I would recommend you to do Sunday Brunch at Michael's Genuine Food & Drink in the Design District however. You’ll be surrounded by upper crust in Louboutins and Hermès. Dress and act accordingly. If you want an outside daytime date spot with food and atmosphere that will soil panties by wine and appetizer alone then order the Greek Meze sampler and Rosé wine at Mandolin Aegean Bistro that’s just on the northern edge of the design district.

The Aventura mall is worth a day of just prowling around the food courts, and high-end stores.

At the moment of writing this it's 25°C/77°F in Miami/FLL and sunny.

i lived in south florida for a year in 2010 and there is one cool place to take a girl, it's a small new york type lounge called "the room".

http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-room-miami-beach

it is small and chill and has this "insider's vibe", i think it is pretty good for more emotional connection type game, before or after dancing or whatever, since it is quiet and you can talk. also, next door is a pizza place that has a ms pacman video game. playing a video game with a girl sometimes works for something different or fun or childlike, again the emotional connection angle.

How did you like YOLO?

G&B Oyster Bar sounds interesting, thanks for the tip.

The Room is going to be mostly people that live in Miami Beach, minimal tourists.

It should be noted that it is beer and wine. No booze.

Also, real hit and miss to meet girls, but a good place to take them.

YOLO is great. Especially for happy hour. I used to work in FLL over the summer. Wednesday is ladies night and the cougars are out in full force. I pulled one of the waitresses there on a flight back from NYC to FLL. Didn't know she worked there until I went for HH with one of my buddies at Broad & Cassell.

I enjoyed Yolo, but if it was a weeknight and their lounge part would not fill up then you are limited to the fairly small bar. Food is good though and at a reasonable price for a place that's hot in town so you could always just start out eating there for the night and see how it plays out.

The thing with FLL as opposed to Miami is that I can imagine that there are days when nothing is really hopping.

I should add that this trip was made very enjoyable overall due to a lot of E-mech's advice. I haven't comment any of it on the forum because I didn't utilize it for game. He definitely knows the grittier side of Florida that most people don't see.

Very true. The new lounge that just got redone next to YOLO is a gold mine however. Last month I met some girl there who works at victoria secret.

Within minutes I was playing with her titties under the pretense of "shopping for bra sizes for lingerie for my gf".

Sometimes its so easy it isn't even fun. When my wing tried to introduce himself she said "Hey give us a minute, we're talking." Hard to conceal a smile after that.

That can be true. The Las Olas/Himmarshee area in Fort Lauderdale can get crazy on a Friday or Saturday night and just west of the freight traintracks it tends to be a much younger crowd. When I was riding with a sportbike crew, we'd head there. Lots of fine feminine talent for you young punks. Some of the bars run 3 for 1 drink specials before things start really heating up at around 11PM.

In FLL I would recommend everybody too hit up the Riverwalk area. Lots of bars and clubs, with talent. Off Da Hookah is the place to be (15 USD entrance fee if I remember correctly). Quality and quantity was unbeliavable when I was there.

Hmm, I don't see what others see in Ft. Lauderdale.

A lot of average looking white girls -- although they have better bodies, bigger booties than typical -- and most are with Black dudes, so I'd say if you're a bro, you'll feel comfortable picking up girls in FLL because the number of interracial couples is high.

Good info. I spent mid-August to mid-November working in FT Lauderdale and Miami. I met a good amount of single women on the salsa scene. Some of the places I hit included Well Lounge in Miami on Weds, Palladium on Thurs in Margate, Born to Salsa semi-monthly salsa socials in Hallandale Beach and several other spots. I also hit some bars on the main strip in Hollywood that had some good looking ladies as well as the Hardrock in Seminole for gambling. In general, I found the people in Ft Lauderdale to be less pretentious, which probably isn't surprising. I know some people probably wrote off South Beach bars as being too touristy, but I met some sexy ladies at Mangos and a few other spots that were definitely game. Anyone who wants info on the salsa scene in Ft Lauderdale, can PM me.

For bachata fans, Well Lounge has a banging bachata night every Thursday. It's a nice spot with two dance rooms, on that night, they play mostly bachata in both.

I've been twice, once there was a $8 cover, the other time it was free to get in.

The cool thing about the place is that you'll pretty much never get turned down to dance unless the girl doesn't know how. Most of the people that go are fairly good dancers, but given my level of it, I have a hard time meeting girls who can keep up.

Yeah, I never heard of that place either.

How is the girl quality? Fly?
