Is it common for American girls to steal stuff like that when they stay over at guy´s houses? My weak justification for letting this happen to me in Colombia was that I was not really accustomed to this risk from girls in the US

Gotta watch everyone. I had a Thai girl jack some money from me just the other day. She is a kindergarten teacher at an international school here in a nice area of Bangkok. Her and her sister are both educated and come from a family with money. She's been to my place 3 times or so and was texting me basically everyday wanting to come over. She's super into Thai politics and always bitching about how the Thai rice farmers are treated. Yet the lameass jacks me for 500 baht, that I now of.

Some people are just kleptos. The girl who jacked me did not need the money at all. I think she's just fucked in the head. Some people are like that.

And your 4* hotel didn't have a safety deposit box?

I was niave? I've never had anything stolen from me in my life and I always make sure to lock my stuff away especially when I have girls over. Was this girl who knicked your stuff a pro?

I was naive too, don't misunderstand me. But yeah, there was a safety deposit box, I just didn't think of putting that stuff away. Not a pro.

My point was trainwreck that you got the wrong person, it wasn't me who had stuff stolen from me. I didn't start this thread.

That's what a safety deposit box is for. I never leave anything laying around even in fancy places. You don't knows who works there and whether they can be trusted.

Most budget hotels in third world countries don't have safety deposit boxes. Nor would i trust any third world hotel staff to keep anything relatively valuable at the front desk.

IMO, lockable luggage with a chain helps deter chicks from getting your cash, phone, watch, etc. Of course, any determined thief with time and tools will be able to get into your locked bag. Anything over 500 bucks or 1K or so, i'd reconsider carrying during travel.

If there's no safe I always lock it in my bag. It'd be easy enough for a staff member to steal the whole back but more difficult for a girl you have over without her getting caught.

Why didn't you search her pockets and handbag? Then atleast you know if she had it yes or no.

I've been to Bkk many times, and I can tell you that reporting this to the police is useless. You should have insured your iPhone.

Rather unrelated but I met a girl tonight who can do a perfect impression of all the hookers/isaan girls and their accents. Had me in stitches.

"I lie for what. I not lie to youuu"
"handsom maaaan. welcaaame, massage sirrr"
"we go look movieee then I cook food for youuu"

..had me in stitches.

(btw these are the girls who you want to lock your stuff up around, lol)

Is anyone still here? Im here another month at least.

Has anyone ever had their hotel room safe broken into? After I had something which I had put into the room safe in Cuba go missing, I concluded that using the safe in your room makes it easier for the staff to find and take your stuff. They have the master code for it. So I no longer use safes although I am not comfortable leaving my stuff out in the room or carrying all of it out in the streets with me. It's a dilemma.

I just try and stay in decent places that have a good reputation and don't worry about the staff breaking onto my safety deposit box.
