Before I went I researched the nightlife extensively online and compiled this list which I've added more and more to as I've visited more areas. I haven't visited every bar and club on it yet but it gives you an idea of what each place is like and you can make your own mind up on whether it sounds good or not.

SUKHIMVIT & ASOKE

The famous sex tourist street just beside Asoke BTS. A small lane filled with table dancing bars, 'erotic' shows, bar girls and more. Worth a look but pretty tragic and full of dirty old men.

Popular with normal working class Thais and the middle class. A full street of clubs and bars, always mobbed at the weekend not so much midweek but can always find somewhere with some action.

Not to be completely written off as a backpacker area, there are bars & clubs with little to no foreigners in the area and due to the nearbye Uni lots of student bars.

BRICK BAR
Thai ska and rock bar on KSR, hidden away in the complex that houses McDonalds and Mulligans Irish bar.

MOLLY BAR
Live acoustic music and beer outside and live Thai bands inside playing a mix of thai rock, pop and European music.
Soi Rambuttri (the side of the street adjacent with Kowsan Road)

DEEP CLUB
Just round the corner from Molly Bar, blacked out windows and blue signs. Heaving full of young Thais going crazy to Trance music.

LAVA CLUB
Drenched in dim light and in a basement. Hip Hop club.
Location: basement of the Bayon building, 249 Khao San Road

888 WEST
Mix of locals and backpackers with nightly live thai bands playing thai and western music.
Location: Tucked away on Walking Street that connects Kowsan and Soi Rambutrri.

VICTORY MONUMNET
Selection of outdoor bars serving food and drinks, often live music.
Location: Victory Monument BTS.

PHRA A THIT ROAD
Just a few minutes walk from Kowsan Road and Soi Rambuttri but not many foreigners around, popular with Thai uni students. Many bars on this road and a couple on the opposite side.

BEACH BAR
Not on a beach or even very beach like but small sit down bar serving cheap whisky and with live music.
Location: Phra-A-Thit Road, across from the park / fort near the river.

APPLE BAR
Similar to all the other bars on this road, small, live acoustic music, sit down and chat with friends bars whilst drinking cheap whisky and beer pitchers.


RATHETEWI CLUBS - Location: Rathetewi (Just off the BTS

COCO WALK (SELECTION OF OUTDOOR BARS)
Outdoor area near BTS with a selection of bars outside. Korean BBQ & very cheap drinks.

COCO BEACH BAR
A Thai favourite.

THE ROCK PUB
Guitar solos and drums popular with young Thais.

RETRO BAR
Nightly live thai music, decent priced beer and great food. Try the stir fried venison plate, delicious.

VOLK BAR
Similar to retro, live thai music every night, popular with Thai students and people who work in the area.
Location: Rathetewi (Just off the BTS)

PHRAYA THAI
Location: Phraya Thai BTS.

HEAP
Popular Thai student bar with car parking space outside. Sponsored by Jack Daniels so buying a bottle is popular though all over drinks available. Live music and pool table, popular spot to eat and drink with friends though mingling definitely possible.

DING DANG

LIKE ROOM
Small, local bar with acoustic music, cheap whisky by the bottle and a friendly staff and clientel and you won't see any foreigners.
Location: take a taxi to Ding Dang area and ask where the bars are.

Above Like Room and a good place for alternative, rock and indie chicks.

Another after-hours club is Insomnia, which was my go-to place since it was closeby in the Sukhumvit area. In my experience the after-hours clubs are about 90% freelance whores. If you don't intend on paying them, make that clear before you leave with them. If money is not discussed, it's assumed that you will pay if it's an SNL from an after-hours club.

Good shit. I spent a month in BKK and will be there for a few nights here soon on my way to Phuket.

Two more clubs:
1. Liquid: Right next to Nana Plaza on Soi 4, it is on the ground floor of the Nana Hotel I believe it is called? Will be mostly freelancers, though I pulled a girl out of there who I don't *THINK* was a working girl as she didn't look the part, didn't ask for any money, and didn't rob me while she left the room when I was passed out. Can't remember if this is an after hours club or not.

2. Swing: This is the after, after hours club. Gets crackin about 5am. It is located right across the street from Spicys. Will be mostly working girls, but I am sure some non as well. It is supposedly an illegal club which is owned by the Thai Army and ran by the Thai Police. The few times I was there some cops would roll on your table and shine a flash light on it, looking for drugs I assume. Never had any trouble. To get there you simply walk into the restaurant across from Spicys, walk into the back where the elevator is, and go up to the 5th floor I believe it was. It will open into a room with pool tables and then the bar and dance area is to the left. Met an extremely shady Mexican or Asian American guy, cant remember which, who I am 90% sure is into some sort of human trafficking lol. Weird place, but fun to be at 5 in the morning. Apparently will stay open until 11 or 12 the next day. I always left at 7am.

Good list man. The gold is tough in the Thai clubs where few foreigners go in as that's where the best girls are found.
Which area are you staying in? Are you renting an apart or staying in hotels?
But one thing I strongly disagree with you man on your take on Soi Cowboy. It is extremely fun! Nothing better than starting the evening going from gogo to gogo, having drinks, playing around with the girls and trying to shore one. Maybe it's me as I have a stripper fantasy and love strip clubs, but damn, Soi Cowboy is the first place I hit whenever I return to BKK.

Amigo, Liquid, on Soi 4 Soi Nana is hookers central. Been there a couple of times and got out real fast as it's nothing but the hardcorest of all. This place gets packed once the bars and gogos close and all the left overs go there to pick up. It's free to get in, it's a bit small and can get packed plus people can smoke there inside, so not the best atmosphere. Nothing to see or do there. If you got one for free there, good for you as that's the extreme rare exception.

Which ones? Any club round Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, Silom / Patpong or general Sukhumvit area may have freelance pros in but they won't be the only girls there and there will be some clubs that have none or next to no pro's. The majority of clubs listed on that list will not have pro's.

The highend places like Bed Supperclub and Narz etc, no pro's.
RCA area, not that I ever recall seeing. Normal Thai people and a few foreigners.
Kowsan area, yes some pro's if on Kowsan Road it's self. If in the surrounding area and a majority Thai bar / club then no.
Victory Monument, Ratchathewi, Phraya Thai, Phraya Thit, Thonburi, Lad Prao etc...no pros.

Bangkok is not the whore infested place it's made out to be, you only see it if you go looking for it. Stay in certain areas of town and hang out / party in certain areas and you'll not even see a pro. Had a friend come visit not so long ago and after a week he asked me why he hadn't seen any prostitutes or ladyboys yet. People expect them to be everywhere.

It's a list that initially I compiled from various sources online and then added to as I was here, it's about 50% taken from online and 50% mines.

There are good looking girls everywhere in Bangkok (assuming you like Asian girls), the high end venues probably have the best looking and richest girls but they are also less likely to hook up with a foreigner, especially one just here on holiday. Maybe if he lives and works here. I don't frequent these places so I'm no expert on them.

If you want to meet normal, working class, Thai girls head to RCA. Tons of choices of clubs and bars, whilst most people will be in mixed groups of guys and girls (normal in Thailand) if you're cool and don't act like a sexpest you can break into the group. Chat with the guys first and make sure you're not chatting up someones girlfriend.

If you're interested in Thai students then Heap Bar at Phraya Thai is fun and full of young, cute, girls.

Phra A Thit Road is a good bet, followed by going to Deep Club or Brick Bar. They all speak English and are generally friendly. Brick Bar is busy from Thursdays onwards and great fun if you like Ska music. Good looking girls a plenty.

For laidback dinner and drinks with a date (nothing too fancy) with some live music I like to head to Coco Walk at Ratchathewi and go to Retro and Volk Bar. Good food and decent live (thai) music. You will also find groups of girls here and they aren't against chatting to you IME.

For a night of sex shows, go go bars and then shoring pro's head to Soi Cowboy, Nana or Patpong then go off to Climax or one of the other afterhour clubs on Sukhumvit.

Interested in hearing some good thai punk and rock music at out of the way venue with a good and friendly crowd then head to Parking Toy bar at Lad Prao on the Northern outskirts of BKK. Interesting crowd here.

Want to meet some normal thai people out for a drink on the weekend then Ding Dang isn't a bad choice. I found everyone in the bars seemed to speak English and didn't mind a farang chatting to them.

Most of my lays have come from pipelining, going out on a date and then fucking the girl later that night at my hotel. A few from random street approaches (mostly at night) where I've seen a cute girl walking somewhere or waiting on a bus or whatever and approached, gotten a number then met at a later date. A couple from chatting up girls at a shop or market stall, getting the number and going out sometime and a few from clubs, usually it's really late and I'm at some after hour place, I check out all the girls that are non pros (easy to tell) and just approach until I find one drunk and horny enough to sneak off with a farang. Earlier on in the night they might worry too much about what their friends / society thinks, by 3am onwards they are too drunk to give a shit.

Yeah this place stays open till midday, I've been in there once to that time and then eventually went home with a girl I'd been messing around with all night, possibly a semi pro. Spicy has changed, I went a few weeks back and it was at least 90% normal girls and guys, no obvious pro's to be seen. It used to be hooker central! Pulled a definite non pro from there with relative ease recently.

I found that it's best to just pretend you don't know they are a pro, ask them what they do for work. They will lie. Run with that lie and take them home. If they spent all night telling you they work in communications or IT how can they justify asking for money in the morning. I try and avoid pros and semi pros though as you're never really sure about whether they will rob you when you sleep. Whilst it can happen with any girl the chance seems much higher with these types.

I found it such a tragic place. Bored Thai girls dancing badly on tables and firing darts out of their pussy whilst old men touch and harass them. It's rare to see any of them look like they're having fun. The majority of them aren't even that great looking, just have good bodies and it's dark so you don't notice the face so much. I'd only go back if a friend who's never been to BKK was visiting and wanted to experience it.

This goes against just about every other source I have on BKK nightlife (including people on this board) who say BSC is filled with farangs, high-price pros and a small sprinkling of locals on a special ocassion, for just about every night.

The freelance culture isn't as pronounced in NE Asia as it is in SE Asia, but for the most part yeah. Tokyo is probably an exception.

Lots of freelancers in Shanghai and Beijing, but not even close to Thailand/Philippines.

I spent 2 months in thailand and I could not even beign to tell you about places there, too drunk all the time, the plan was go out end up in gullivers on the khao san where you can game every type of chick from every part of the world then head to an after hours place at 2 am, one of them was on a roof top and was cool as fuck. I went to club bed once and there were probably 2 thai girls in there , I only met some English girls and some Singapore girls, all of them were happy to chat but worthless e-mail address's was all I got out of it. I had more fun outside the shop up the road drinking whisky than in club bed. In my opinion Thailand is too mental to make plans, just flow with the madness and see where it takes you.

Yeah, Liquid is filled with pros, no doubt. This girl could have been for sure, but didn't seem the part. I've taken pros home for free before, it doesn't bother me if she was or not. I was staying at Sukhumvit Soi 1 because that is where Bangkok Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is located, so Liquid was a late night stop off on the way home. Definitely not a place to go otherwise.

Some of the best late night spots are the people in vans or stands selling beer on the side of the road. Good place to grab a drink on the way home. They are all over BKK.

Otherwise, keep in mind you're gonna get there 1 or 2 days later, which kind of hurts.

Cathay probably has one that goes LAX-HKK-BKK and will be nice and comfortable.

there's a shitload of cheap hotels in the sukamavit area where bed and supper is located...u don't even need to book. everytime i have been i just get a taxi staright from airport to i think around soi 7 soi 8 and walk the pavement. cheap and everywhere. why u want ur accom to be near a particular club? anyway its a good area. bus station close (one hour trip to pattaya) . sky train right there.. bout two or 3 stops to soi cowboy etc etc.

cant wait to go back to bangkok

i don't i have only stayed in sukamavit. i find the location perfect.
no experience staying anywhere else. pretty sure u can get dirt cheap rooms in places along kosan rd way. if ur after foreign chicks that would be the place.

i think they offer free entry to Bed Supperclub and Q Bar for their guests

i'll be in bangkok in 4 weeks. can't wait
