Why not? Original owner dead, they've known nothing their entire lives other than serving their owner. Not like they're suddenly going to run off and do their own thing, not natural to them. Plus it's a fantasy, doesn't need to make sense.

Margaery is the most interesting character this season in my opinion. Her control over Joffrey is very interesting, and I don't think it's because he's so attracted to her physically. I've not read the novels so I'm interested to see what her motives are.

Last night's episode was one of the best so far, I like the dragon lady.

Are we suppose to like the Kingslayer?

The first two books you only hear of Jamie through other characters.

The third book Jamie gets his own chapters and you start to see the story from his perspective. It is extremely interesting to read his chapters to say the least, you start to understand him better and feel empathy for him. You can understand why he hates being called a kingslayer and you even feel some pity.

+1

This season has been the best so far and thats saying a lot. Watched all the season 3 episodes at least twice so far. I love HBO. GoT is the best series they got now.

I'm largely annoyed with the female characters.

Rob Stark's mother: Damages her son's prospects for a kingdom by letting the Kingslayer go in a trade for her worthless two daughters

Sansa Stark: Boring and largely worthless.

Arya Stark: I know she develops into a larger character as the books progresses. But still an idiot for not having her assassin-for-hire kill of the arch enemies of her father who she saw beheaded. Plus, I just don't care about girl characters in general.

The midget is very likeable.

And speaking of which, the midget's whore/girlfriend is actually a German-Turkish porn actress. Her face getting creamed on is all over Google Images if you do a search for her name.

Great show. Last episode's ending was right up there with the ending scenes of the season finals. Epic.

GoT is a bit like getting a dose of Lord of the Rings in your living room every Sunday. Although, they are pretty different.

A former porn actress. She´s a "real" actress since 2004, and a quite successful one.

Yeh you've got it right with the unsullied, they have nowhere to go, all they've learnt their whole life is to obey and fight, so when their new owner frees them, they'd rather just continue doing what they know, they know no other trade.

She's working her influence over Joffrey because she wants to be Queen and not a patsy to Cersei who she can see is trying to rule the kingdom, she wants her to have independence from Cersei, who lets face it, is really fucking thick, hence why Tywin looks down on her and says as much when he says "Good" in response to Cersei saying Margaery knows how to manipulate Joffrey. The girl's grandmother though is the mastermind behind all of Margaery's movements. Watch out for that old lady I tell ya.

She know's he's a sadistic psychopath and so flatters him and plays to his massive ego to stay on his good side. She's worldly and has the kind of manipulative girl game that Sansa has none of. You see it pretty clearly in the scene where she is joking around with Sansa who is a gullible simpleton.

Meanwhile Cersei is jealous that Margaery is trying to usurp her power.

In the books Margaery is presented as more of a happy, carefree girl and Cersei hating her because she misunderstands her motives. In the show Margaery is more deliberate in gathering power and sidelining Cersei.

Anyway, Littlefinger what a pimp. Though he seems more into acquiring power through marriage than pussy. Maybe pussy gets old after you've been running a high end brothel empire for a while.

Judging by our Dark Triad scores, I think Joffrey would be a fairly tame member of the RVF! [Image: tongue.gif]

I love how Margarey and her grandma are so different than in the books, where they were fairly boring and without distinct and interesting personalities. Margarey, in addition to being young and hot, also represents that tiny bit of game that is available to women and which is nearly forgotten today.

Probably also something to do with us never seeing Margaery's point of view. Everyone sees her as a boring airhead to the people around her, but in fact it seems she is scheming with the best of them.

Anyone repulsed by the betatude put out by Stannis on the shore with his Fire queen? And he wants to be king.

This is the one major character that has been changed the most and worst from the book. Book-Stannis is more badass although stubborn to a fault. I suspect they changed him because in the book he becomes the pretender to the throne that seem the fairest. While the TV series wants to hold up Dany and Robb as the only considerable choices. that's TV for you I guess.

Yup, Stannis begging anybody would be totally out of character in the books. And he was gruff and curt with Mellissandre, calling her "woman".

The show does a good job of merging several characters together though to make keeping track of them more manageable eg Gendry and Edric Storm. Before leaving the shore Mellisandre stated she needed king's blood so Gendry should be the one, as he's the only Robert's bastard that appears on the show. I thought that the t.v. writers would disappointingly leave the Sansa/Tyrell marriage plot and what ensues out after epsiode 1, but they again combined Willas and Loras.

The 2 most damnable character changes imo are Shae and Littlefinger. Littlefinger's intentions for Sansa were kept a mystery throughout most of the book, and that kept us theorizing and trying to piece together the clues left by Ser Dontos and others. Instead of feeding the viewer puzzles piece by piece and letting him put them together, the show delivers almost everything on a silver platter right away. So Littlefinger comes across as "creepy" instead of insanely cunning. Same goes for omitting Dany's prophecy in the Undying tower, Patchface and his riddles, the Ghost of High Heart etc.

And given the changes to Shae making her character more strong, cuntish and dominating, as well as her increased role I highly doubt her path will be the same as in the books. If I'm right that would suck really really hard.

Oh and I don't remember but does she call Tyrion "My GIANTTTTT of Lannister!" as she is fucking him in the show? Lol. They also sadly omitted some of Tyrion's more juicy dialogues like threatening Cersei that he would personally whip and ass rape Tommen should harm come to the whore she wrongly captured. That was one of my favorite scenes.

I loved Natalie Porter in The Tudors. I literally teared when she got her head chopped off end of 2nd season.

Great actress.

It's a shame that the prophecy is not mentioned in the Undying tower, that's a huge part of the books. I only just realised it as you mentioned it

This. Since the books are told from only certain characters, each with a limited view of the world, it's hard to determine the true thoughts and motivations of the other characters. There have been several 'changes' that could very well have happened in the books behind the scenes. e.g. Olena Tyrell and the spider may have had a discussion about Sansa Stark in the books, but since neither are a POV character it's impossible to know.

SPOILER ALERT

but Bolton is gonna betray Rob, so he probably wants to curry favor with the Lannisters.

What I don't get is why they have this Theon storyline. Nobody enjoys watching him get tortured (unless you're into that stuff), and I don't think what he's done merits that much punishment. Certainly far worse characters in the show are getting far less punishment. It just doesn't end, and there's never any resolution. It's just a shitty storyline.

Agree. its the only subplot I don't enjoy. It might have been OK for one scene but they've had this pointless torture for weeks now. I feel like I'M the one being tortured, having to watch this pointless drivel! The rest of the show, I really like.

If Ygritte says "you know nothing John Snow" one more time I'm going to have to smack a bitch.

She is the most prominent example of characters who they start 'overwriting' and making gimmicky because of fan support. All the characters have their idiosyncrasies, but they're purposely writing her to please the fans. (Its happening a bit with Tyrion and the writers making him go full beta at times) -- I don't know what hes like in the books, but it seems out of character when he turns to mewling sycophancy to please his whore. (maybe because of his first 'marriage' to that whore? but still)
