Hey thanks for the post. I read up on the Cali forum and I'm attempting to avoid Colombian cupid and focus entirely on massive day game and night game (never do online game but maybe I'll try it for fun?). The suggestions were great, and I am curious as to what intermediate Spanish is in your view as well as how dance game works there. I usually kill it in the club setting and do much worse in a bar scene in the US because I am more of a high energy type and I am young.
Wanted to see your view on staying at hotel now as well. I have a billion points so I can basically stay there the whole time, but sounds like you can't bring guests? In that case I'll stick with an apartment. (which complex is the good one?)
Thanks for any other additional details.
Actually one last one would be safety, areas to avoid?
First and foremost is your level of Spanish, this really is a deal breaker in Colombia unless you don't mind P4P. Now, before I arrived in Cali, I had a month in Bogota under my belt which included 2 weeks of intensive Spanish classes. Before that it was basic, survival Spanish (donde es el bano?), 3 months here (5 weeks of courses) and I am quite happy with my level of Spanish, but of course I still have a lot to learn.
I could conjugate most of the important regular verbs in the present tense as well as a few of the most common irregular ones, I was still a bit shaky on the past tenses and future tenses (knew the important ones) but anyway, I could get my point across, its easier in person, of course. Don't count on any of the girls speaking any English, none that I met did, I've only met English speaking ones in Bogota. So, keep practicing, don't rely solely on RS, bust out a grammar book, I use "Practice Makes Perfect Spanish Pronouns and Prepositions" by D. Richmond and "Spanish Verb conjugations" by K Norton, both are good, both I bought on my Kindle Fire.
I can't stress how important it is to speak a decent amount of Spanish, any guys reading this, unless you are coming to Colombia for a month plus and plan on enrolling in classes, if your Spanish is super weak (be honest with yourself), I wouldn't be bothered coming here because you will be disappointed.
Also, get a cheap cell phone (30K) or a SIM card while you're here, this is huge, you NEED one.
Another thing I brought that definitely has come in handy more than once is a good set of portable, loud speakers for your lap top. This is for when you get them back to your place, put on some salsa or reggaeton and get them dancing (and drinking) in your place, always keep your fridge stocked with some Aguilas and Arguadiente.
By all means do as much day game as you want, I didn't do much but the girls are very receptive. This is generally the case in all of Colombia, if you can be understood in Spanish, they will at least stop and listen to you, of course, the rest is up to you. A good line would be "I'm in Cali to improve my Spanish and learn salsa, want to meet up for a drink later and show me some moves?" they all LOVE to dance here, and as long as you don't go to the high end super salsa clubs, they will happily get on the dance floor with you even if you suck at dancing. Since you say you like the club scene, I assume you can at least move on the floor, you should be ok, Cafe Mi Tierra is a good place for this, quite a few other foreigners go there too.
Night game can be tough due to the mixed groups that Colombians go out in, this has been discussed at length in other threads and Roosh writes about it in his book "Bang Colombia" (another book you should consider reading before you go). Basically its very hard to get a ONS from the club, but I find it quite easy to get #s (I got 4 last week alone and my game ain't that tight, but we all know what they say about #s) and getting a kiss within the first 15-30 minutes isn't too hard either, standard game rules apply.
By all means stay at a hotel if you like, but make sure you clear up the guest policy. Also, if you're dragging home lizards at 3am every night, tip the night time security guard, I gave him 10K each time I did that. If you go through Art, the Chipechape and Granada apartments will be perfect, Chipechape is close to Menga and Granada has lots of bars too and is very close to Avenida Sexta. Basically all of the party zones are close together, always take a cab, you'll never have to pay more than 10K.
safety: Cali is considered the most dangerous urban centre in Colombia, look up the stats, it had more murders last year than Bogota and the capital has over 3X the population. Don't wonder around aimlessly at night (San Antonio you can do that), take cabs and stick to the areas I mentioned, Centro is fine during the day but I wouldn't go there at night.
Online game: don't write this off, its best to pipeline as PDX mentioned so you at least have something lined up for when you first arrive. Trust me, its nice to have a local chick there to meet you on your first night, take her out for a drink, get her to show you around for the first day or two. Of course, then do your day/night game, its best to hit all angles, since you're only there for a limited time, best to hit the ground running.
From my experience in Cali, if you take them out dancing, you'll have some good bumping and grinding, be aggressive with them and definitely you should be making out with them by the end of the night, if not more. If you decide to go on a second date, work something out to get them back to your place (like the idea I suggested) and go for the bang.
