Advice on first USA trip: Ontario 2nd tier then down to NYC

Hi, I’ve been lurking here a while,

I’m really loving the forum. It’s a goldmine. I ended up here due to a love of Eastern Europe. I was planning a Ukraine trip, as I have both a love of the women, and a desire to learn Russian. I’m well travelled in Hungary and Poland but have never headed east.

Anyhow, I’m all set to leave on an 8-week stay, but have been talking to family members and now have an opportunity to hit up Canada (family friends there). I’m really just taking time out to do some work on an internet business startup and generally get away from England and chill for a while.

I’m starting to think Canada and the States might be an easier option, and to leave Ukraine until Spring/Summer. I have a nagging feeling it might be a frustrating trip compared to chilling in Canada/U.S.A. for a while.

IF I did the Canada thing, I’d be staying in Oakville outside Toronto for a few days (I’ve been to Toronto loads, it doesn’t really bother me to miss it) and then heading down to London Ontario (more family friends)... possibly a good 2nd tier option?

After that I’d head to New York. My questions are:

A) Should I pass and just “man up” and hit Ukraine?!
B) Are there any decent spots between Buffalo and New York that are worth spending time in? I’d prefer to stick to a smaller New England area... I don’t really want a mad road trip to Las Vegas or anything!

Background:

Have big experience on Couch Surfing, am based in London UK. I class myself as a popular guy...Very into fashion, well dressed... although my friends/choice of venues border on the hipster-ish at times.. I have a beginner level of game but am very sociable and usually do quite well with chicks...

Thanks for reading people...

London is definitely a good 2nd tier city, hit Richmond st. at night for some university honeys, best plan is just to bar hop until you find the best place

As for in between Buffalo and NY, there is not much. Syracuse has a big university so you might find something there. If you just want a place to stop, the Poconos are nice, but it's hillbilly ville nightlife will be very hit or miss

Go straight to Ukraine and don't waste time coming this side, you have been here countless times. Although London, Ontario might be an alright time since school is in session.

BTW - I live in Oakville.

Say a quick "Hello" to your family and head to Montreal for a week, then head to NYC.

That's if you're looking for poontang and nightlife.

If you're looking for more than nightlife then there's a lot to see in between.Go by train or something, maybe Niagra to NYC ,I think that trains called the Maple Leaf.

If you have the time or can afford the plane tickets, go to NYC via Montreal (though expect highs of -30C and dress accordingly). I'd advise skipping Ontario entirely.

Also, DO NOT take the Maple Leaf train. It's a screaming kid express full of poor families too cheap to fly and really slow. The 2 trains from Montreal to New York are MUCH nicer. They're just as slow but the scenery is breath taking and surprisingly screaming child free. The scenery on the Maple Leaf is a tour of Upstate New York's bombed out economy and looks like a tour through Bosnia in the 90s.
