Hey gentlemen, it is 90% confirmed that I would be spending the next 2 years of my life at UniMelb and I will arrive in Melbourne end July.

I am currently in the midst of the same olds of moving to a new city and I would appreciate any help I can get from this forum, first beers on me when I arrive.

1. Apartment Hunting

I am looking at an apartment in Brunswick and I'm considering if it would be a good area to be at for 2 years. Things I am unwilling to compromise on: 1. Safe neighbourhood 2. Less than 30mins to UniMelb's Parkside campus 3. Private room

I am currently looking at student apartments. I can do shared accomodations but no shared rooms and I''m looking at something around AUD1000-1500 a month.

2.Cost of Living

I am going as an international student so money will be tight. I will be getting about AUD1500 a month from home excluding rent and I am also going to get some work if my lifestyle demands more. I can cook and will be looking to cook at least 50% of my meals. I dont have any particularly expensive hobbies but would like have a decent lifestyle with maybe the occasional purchase of a pair of shoes or a piece of clothing to update my wardrobe every month or so. Melbourne is foreign to me so I would like to get your opinions if 1500(excluding rent) is a livable sum of money.

3. University Life
I have heard tons of stories about life in UniMelb and they are hardly consistent. What is the culture there like? Unfortunately, I would be missing the first week of school due to commitments back home and will only be starting school on the second week, are there major freshman activities that are scheduled on the first week that could be a potential setback if I miss them? I apologise for any lack of understanding but it is my first time in college and first time in college in Australia.

Game-wise, I like Asian girls so based on what I read on this thread so far, the FOB girls would be my bread and butter. I am confident in my fashion sense, definitely not some skinny badly dressed FOB dude that can hardly look women in the eye. At this stage, remaining optimistic about game in Melbourne.

All in all, I am looking forward to arriving in Melbourne late July. To those that I have met on my travels and will be in Australia, it would be great to meet up. To the Aussie vets, I am excited to learn and pick your brain for advice. Regardless, first beers on me. Cheers!

I can't help much with what Melbourne uni life is like, but definitely expand your search for apartments. I had a friend living in Brunswick a few years ago and he was paying over $200/week for a shoebox. Most of the inner city areas are pretty safe.
I live a fair way out, but IF I catch a limited express train I can be in the CBD in under half an hour, then the uni is a short tram ride away. Just need to be fairly close to a train line.

As far a living expenses go, vic market isn't far from the uni and there's lots of farmer's markets about. There's also a number of factory outlet centers, like DFO south wharf where you can get stuff marked down.

It's been a while since I studied at unimelb but if you like Asians chicks you're going to love it. TBH, I wish i had my time again because in hindsight I wasted my years studying instead of chasing tail. The hottest asian chicks that is accessible to game will be at uni. Outside of uni they work so you don't see them or you can find them at clubs which is a different set of problems. The great thing about uni is you're going to have access to both local and fobby chicks, including the good non-clubby ones. TBH fobs aren't really my thing but uni will be heaven for both fobs and local.

Brunswick is hipster pretty close to unimelb but if I had a choice i will stick to Carlton or even CBD. Actually, I would personally choose CBD. Its a 15minute walk to uni from CBD or 5-10min by tram. The uni is next to carlton.

Rent shared will be about 250-300pw at a reasonable location. 350pw excluding rent is very liveable. That's the budget i set for myself.

If you miss the first week you do miss out on a bit of good social scene but you're going to be there for two years. You have plenty of time. Again if i had my time again, i would just study enough to pass and focus on my social life. You should be having a blast. Unimelb is one of the best if not best uni in aus so definitely lot of smart/studious cookies around but make no mistake, the social scene is big. Especially around asians and college cliches. The local asians will revolve around private school cliches but with your background you can go probably break into them. Once you're in you're in.

Man $1000-1500 AUD for a room? I left in 2013 but I was paying $535 for a double room on Cardigan St, Carlton and before that $730 for an en suite in North Melbourne. $1500 would be around what I used to pay for three month’s rent

If you love Asians Melbourne will be heaven on earth for you.

Lol.. Reading the opening data sheet.. Its Interesting to see how much Melbourne has changed..

Melbourne is the city of yellow fever, sleazy Arabs, flaky feminists and snobby Greeks and Italians..

That being said.. If you don't land an Asian, a Greek or an Italian during your stay... You should give up.. In regards to the white girls... Ehh may the odds be ever in your favour lol

The "Asian" thing is much more complex than you suggest. I would say minimum 80 are Chinese. Chinese culture is incredibly closed which makes them hard mode to bang from DG. In general Chinese culture leads men to play serious provider game. It is not unusual for a Chinese student to spend 4 years in Australia and never speak to an Australian. They often adopt local grungy feminist fashion but do not internalise any other part of our culture. Japanese, Taiwanese and Koreans are similar but not as hard. Thais are the easiest followed by other SEA girls, especially Phillipinos. Sadly, Thai and Phillo are quite rare.

In the city centre, you get a lot of Europeans (working holiday visa or just plain tourist e.g. French, Italian etc) many Latin American, in particular Colombians here to "learn English".

As for the 2nd and now 3rd gen Greeks/Italians etc they are still often a little feminine which makes them a little more susceptible to day game than typical Aussies.

Outside of these demographics, there are a ragbag of "other" but these are in relatively small numbers. The City Centre ultimately ends up being mainly Aussie girls who are a little too awkward (aged 25-35 are very hard, uni students and MILFS are appreciably easier) to get a great return from and Chinese who are a nightmare.

My lifetime open to lay ratio (including a lot of EU data) is somewhere near 1 in 35 but it is more like 1 in 100 for Aussie and Chinese.

Melbourne is not an easy town to daygame, especially once daylight savings stops (April til October). However, it does produce very high-level PUAs. Many run coaching businesses in AU and Europe because they learn the hard way.

Lived in Melbourne half a year. Learned daygame the hard way there. No offense to Melbourne boys but guys have more pua buddies than notches there. It’s just flat out difficult there. Sydney or Gold Coast is better if you have to run game down under.

For the most part, this is true but I have 50+ DG notches in Melbourne, I know 5 other 20+ guys. It can get a bit social on the corner of Bourke and Swanston and most guys are "part-timers" which amounts to close to no DG notches.

The only guys that push through and get good consistent results in Melbourne need to have some serious personality imbalance. Some of these good guys have become good friends but the good guys are either dark triad or perfectionists. No normal guy would go through the difficulties and emotional rollercoaster that is learning DG in Melbourne. I will reiterate that Feb and March do deliver many internationals so time of the year is fundamental if you want to travel there.

Yeah and the majority are over 6'2" good looking dudes playing goodlooking don't fuck it up game.
Marshal
MaCrae
Liam B...
Chris Manik
All over 6'2" male models the top 3 got no issues fucken 2 points below.
Marshal took down the youtube where he brags about being a rockstar and all these chicks are following his band saying how much they want to fuck him. While all band members say he gets all the girls.
He goes further where he says 300 or 400 people rocked up to his birthday..Yet he was all shy and only got 6 lays from being in a band..Bullshit.

MaCrae and Liam B both dress like shit on purpose because they ARE super goodlooking so they dress down to play their looks down..I've seen these guys ...ALL will play down their height or goodlooks being a factor.

So those dudes would all be anti red pill becuse women have not really been cunts to them. They will tell guys to drop standards because being tall goodlooking guys the ugly girls will not reject them or be cruel

Social Prime had another Aussie Muslim guy over 6'2" bragging about 100 lays in 12 months.

Bradicus is from SA and the great hope.I've seen him live in action .He was pretty good

The reason there are those type of birds in the city is the Chinese buy out caused white flight .Hot chicks don't dig Chinese dudes so they don't come in to compete.Pretty women go where there is pretty women or men they compete for
But the standard has dropped big time the more left wing it has become

Today I was in Brisbane Cbd for only 1 hour .I saw more pretty girls Anglo, Asian etc than I see in Melbourne in a month.
And I'm no daygamer.

I fucken dred having to go back to Melb and I work in the CBD.Im dead inside from the lack of beauty in Melbourne...

Yes a Melbourne dude does play the game on easy in other locations only because there are more 'targets' than he is use to.After he gets over the shock of how good the chicks in another location are being to him.

And since fucking when have Greek and Italian girls in Melbourne been hot..The vast majority have always been fat and famous for being unft. The FOB Greek and Italian girls are another story they are hot as..But the local ones have always been known to be unfit.

Chicks are hotter around the Bay.The city is lost

Damn, very impressive if true. Melbourne is a tough city. Do you do direct or indirect daygame approaches? And may I ask, are you leveraging good looks (esp. height or muscles) and/or targeting foreigners?

Almost always brutally direct. Sometimes situational if possible. I do target more feminine looking women (obviously this isn't super common) who I know will be more receptive to this style. I am decent looking but only 5 ft 7. Very well styled. I approach everyone that I like the look of but as I said above the approach to lay ratio for Aussies is not great.

Most of my serious wings are Asian. Viet, Korean, Phillipino.

I wasn't thinking of any of these when I made that comment, but do agree with what you are saynig, I have had several students who are ex Manik students and the advice he gives is what you'd expect from a tall good looking guy.

Haha, he is a mate of mine. The numbers are true. His standards are a little light (has a very wide range) and he has good genetics. However, he does have quite good technical game considering these factors.

My mate winged with him in Krakow for a few weeks, says he is autistic but has quite good daygame. I would imagine that with his genetics a guy wil learn more from him than from the guys you quoted.

You clearly have no idea what you are saying on this. The city has never housed Aussies. All of the apartment buildings in the city centre have basically been made for Chinese, there has been no white flight, Aussies have simply almost never lived there. The Chinese literally live in their own bubble, so do the Aussies. They don't even see each other or interact on any level.

Now, I 100% agree on this. This is universal and thoroughly saddening.

Bris girls are certainly better than Melbourne girls. The supply and demand dynamics, i.e. the relative quality of guys and girls, in Melbourne must be close to the worst in the world for men.
