@bface: if you think Kuta's a shithole you should see the rest of the country... (or anywhere in the developing world for that matter)

Well by shithole I mean things like the scams etc, I understand that it's not a first world country.

I changed to an aircon room now so I can stay in my room during the day and will just work the last few days. Maybe go out on the weekend, during the week it has become pretty quiet, other than Sky Garden top floor and the bounty everything is empty.

I think I will never be able to have a massage again in my life. Hearing the word massage I immediately imagine a 2$ hooker now...

This is a hard question. I can always find something fun wherever I go, and try not get hyped too much before traveling. "Expect the worst, hope for the best."

This way you don't feel money was wasted on the trip. I also avoid mega tourist destinations, as I feel most all of them are overrated.

I'm intrigued by your nomination of Newcastle. What makes it worth visiting? How difficult is it for a non-Briton to understand Geordie-accented speakers, and how common is the accent?

Why did you think San Diego, and Tallinn were overrated?

In defense of Kuta (even though I admit it is a touristy shithole and really part of Australia) when it's crowded the parties there are fucking off the wall. There are so many drunk slutty stupid as shit tourist chicks there that it's heaven for a guy.

I know there are other places in SE Asia like that (Nha Trang, Vang Vieng, Bangkok, Koh Phangan, etc) but Bali has to be tops. I honestly think that chick flick, Eat Pray Love, really caused a lot of confused hot chicks to travel there. I saw tons of hot Dutch, Swedish, etc chicks there travelling solo trying to find themselves or something like that.

Whores. The accent is tough, but when they get drunk its easy for a kiss/grope/finger close. It saves the communication barrier. Id spent close to two months in the U.K. and was a bit prepared for the accent. They had a fuck all time understanding my southern U.S. accent but loved to hear me talk. Enough to fuck within 4-5 hours. The U.K. is a fishbowl for me though. Individual results may vary.

Lisbon should be on your list. You're a surfer. The beaches at Guincho and Caparica are world-class. There's a nice topless beach by Caparica as well (you need a car to get there, though). It's not as big of a city as BCN, but it's world-class. Good art scene, and check out this mural Os Gemeos + Blu did last week:

http://unurth.com/431289/Os-G-meos-Blu-Lisbon

In terms of your list:

World-class: Barcelona gets the edge. Lisbon is up there though.

Big City: Barcelona is bigger. I don't actually think this is an advantage. Lisbon is big enough.

More beautiful beaches: Lisbon. Barcelona has warmer water, Lisbon has prettier spots & amazing swells.

Topless girls: Lisbon has topless beaches but they aren't walkable in the city like BCN. That is admittedly pretty sweet.

Architecture: In my opinion Gaudi is unbeatable as a city architect, anywhere in the world. The best architecture in Lisbon is just outside the city, in Sintra:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dcYcHeNz-pU/Td...ryside.jpg

Food: Lisbon has incredible fresh seafood. Barcelona has amazing tapas. It's a tough call, I prefer Lisbon here.

Nightlife: Depends what you're into. Barcelona has more, but in Lisbon everyone is out on the street drinking, partying, outdoor concerts, films & djs at the miradouros every week.. I prefer Lisbon but I can see picking Barcelona. You wouldn't get bored either place.

Safety: Lisbon has significantly less crime, but you're not going to get shot in Barcelona so who cares.

You clearly have a soft spot for BCN. But there are definitely other cities out there that tick your boxes - check Portugal out.

It's pretty much the same meditarrean climate but Barcelona has a more interesting nightlige than Nice due to a lot of students coming all accross Europe (and it's also a bigger city: 1.6M inhabitant vs 350k)
So during the winter Barcelona is much better. During the summer I would rather go to the French Riviera since even if Nice is kinda crappy for good clubs, you can still hit Monaco, Cannes and Saint tropez...Also the beaches are nicer than in Barcelona...

Yes, Lisbon as a city is under rated from a cultural/touristic stand point. But, I find Barcelona to be much more enjoyable. Also, in general I didn't find the Portugese girls to be that attractive. Of course, there are pretty girls around, but the quality was much lower than in Barcelona. The nightlife is also a lot more sedate and much quieter. I did go in the summer, so this may account for the lack of beautiful locals and moribund nightlife.

I was thinking of doing Budva, Montenegro right after Poland around July 2012. Everyone talks about Croatia for the summer, but I feel its overrated and a sausage fest....

Montenegro is definitely under-rated, and I need to go explore it in detail Summer 2012.

FYI,if i would be you,i would do Montenegro first and Poland after,in July.
The EURO 2012 soccer tournament will be held in Poland(and Ukraine) from the 8th of June to the 1st of July.

MASSES of foreigners, especially dudes from all over Europe will crowd into the country and it will be a huge sausage fest around places.
Defintely NOT the best time for hitting up the scene, when hordes of drunk(and non-drunk) soccer fans will roam the streets and bars, clubs.
They will scare away all the ladies.
Ratios at places will be really "bad".

So you should skip Poland in June if you want good and happy "times",just saying.

Thanks for the heads up..., Montenegro is a Summer destination to be visited ONLY in July/August, otherwise it is completely dead.

I am not going to Poland in June, I am going to Poland in April, and stay until May 30th, just before the sausage comes up for the games, and it gets ruined then!

I'm now definitely planing on avoiding the Euro 2012, and will actually hit it BEFORE the foreigners come. After the foreigners leave, local girls will want NOTHING to do with foreigners, which is actually a bad time to go in Summer to POland regardless...the cities empty out!

Right on point.
The novelty factor will be zero if you hit Ukraine/Poland during or after Euro Cup.
Mixx, when do you plan to hit it? I'll be there to accompany you.

Putting aside the topic of the U.S. in general, I think the most overrated city is London. Any city which charges you rip-off prices for virtually everything, kicks you out of the pub at midnight just as you're starting to get a buzz on because inconceivably, most bars and pubs till DO close at midnight (even smalltown bars in Texas can beat that), then informs you that there's no way to get home because the whole f*cking train system is also already shutting down at midnight too, so you have to blow 50+ Euro on a taxi to get home after an unsatisfying night in which the only good-looking girls are expats, immigrants or tourists....Great huh? Especially since the city is blindly worshipped as a brand, like NYC.

Underrated? Not sure...Gothenburg Sweden or some place in Germany like Cologne perhaps (Check out Karneval!).

What a load of crap. Have you even been to London?

The currency in UK is the Pound, not the Euro. Also, while many pubs close early, you can continue to drink and party at a club. Just because the pubs close, doesn't mean that there is nowhere to go and have a drink.

Lastly London has one of the most extensive night bus systems of any city in the world. You don't necessarily have to spend '50 Euros" to get home.

Uh, yes, it is. London has a huge number of attractive girls from all over Europe and elsewhere. This is a problem how? Why would you only want to pick up British birds?

The weather is quite shit, though.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

What a ludicrous comment. How much time did you actually spend in the city and how many places did you go to?

The info on Colombia on this board is all over the place. I don't know what to think. I'm going to Colombia in January and so I searched tons of threads here to do research a while back. It seemed like every post/thread said either, "You'll get laid like a rock star in Colombia" or "Girls are a pain in the ass and shallow, don't bother." It was always one or the other. Nothing in between.

I get the feeling that I'm going to get down there and it's just going to be a slightly easier and cheaper version of Argentina. And 90% of the stuff on the board is either hype or guys who are butt-hurt because they didn't get laid.

Totally agree. Colombia definitely has the most mixed reports on this forum. MiXX was the last person to say it how it is which has almost put me off for good. But like anywhere everyones experience is going to be different. You get lucky and bang a girl or 2 and its a goldmine. You luck out a few times and its all about 'social circles' and 'status'.
It would be good to get an honest account from somewhere. Argentina for me was a horrible nightmare. I did get a flag but it was waaaaaaay to much hard work in the long run. Brazil was no better. So im naturally very weary of Colombia. They dont have ONS culture like the rest of the world. So its definitely no fuck fest.

Like any Big city it can leave you feeling sore if you're not there for long and don't get an "in" with a few people, and are left feeling a bit left out.

As for foreign girls, well London is a Major destination so you're ineveitably going to meet a lot of foreigners living there and visitors, especially if you're only in the centre bars and clubs.
I don't see why that's a downer though!
And foreigners aren't the "only" good looking girls here,I always read this here and it's just Bull.

It is expensive but again what major city isn't.
Travel, well public transport is pretty extensive if expensive and crowded at rush hour ,but it beats the hell out of most American cities on that count.
You don't need to drive,in fact it's easier without a car,I count that as a major plus, especially if I'm out on the town of an evening!

Like anywhere you have to find your niche.
If you're walking in blind it's always going to be hit and miss wherever you go.

Once you have a little local knowledge London should come alive for you.

Having said that it's not my favourite place to go out on the pull.

I think a simple formula for those considering Colombia would be:
Latino or white+ solid to fluent spanish skills+game=get laid regularly.
All 3+social circle and a bit of status=get laid like a rock star.
Lack any of the first 3 qualities=colombian girls are a pain in the ass.

This is my first post I think. I am no beginer to central and south america. I am white and live in the states and I have gotten laid within 1 hour of landing in Bogota 2 times in 2012. I have been all over colombia for 6 years and I do speak spanish and I am not ugly. The 2 girls I banged were contacts from facebook though. They picked me up at the airport drove me to my hotel we had some Bailey's and that was that. Colombia though is not a place to go if you want to do the bars and meet girls. It works and I have had success but it isn't as easy as many cities in the USA. Salto de angelo is a bar in 93 and I have taken several women out of there and banged them that night. I'm reading this forum trying to figure out where I want to go.....just got visa for brazil but reading this forum I think I'll wait till the off season.
