Best way to find cheaper monthly furnished rentals when living abroad?

I planned on doing a Euro trip with one city per month over the past summer, but what killed it besides my procrastination was I had trouble finding affordable monthly furnished rentals. I know short term furnished rentals will cost more than a regular long term unfurnished rental, but found furnished rental prices to be astronomically higher. Eg I believe the average price for an unfurnished one bedroom in Barcelona city center is between 700-1000 euros, but found furnished rentals at prices of 2000 euros + a month, same for Prague, Vienna etc.

I'm looking at prices in Buenos Aires right now for the summer, and while they are decent ($1300 a month) I'm sure I could get much cheaper.

What do you guys find is the best way to find affordable housing? I know showing up, living in hostel and searching locally might be cheaper, but if you plan on moving monthly that could get really cumbersome.

Thanks

Look at shared housing. People looking for flatmates.
Couch surfing some of the time.

Maybe live cheaply for 1 month then a nice place the next month.

There's a website called airbnb I beleive it is called, came across it recently when looking for short term apartments. It's basically people advertising rooms or furnished apartments from anything from 1 night to several months, I looked at prices for Bangkok and they were very good. Nice apartments in secure blocks with swimming pools and gyms for less than £20 per night.

I've tried airbnb and found it pretty expensive for monthly stays, it is cheaper than a hotel if you want to go for a week or so though.

The prices for long term stays are ridiculous. Better off renting your own place.
