Where are the crypto posts? Crypto lounge...

Now that cryptocurrencies are a shell of their value, no one seems to want to talk crypto anymore.

Prices have been pretty steady, the volume isn't bad, the industry is making huge space, BAKKT on the horizon, bigger money getting more access. It may rise or it may all but if history has told us anything from the past few booms and crashes, but gigantic gains can happen out of nowhere and seemingly overnight.

Even if you disagree with my fundamental analysis, how many opportunities in your lifetime to possibly make 10-50x your money in less than a year? We shouldn't be shortsighted normies and miss the ride again.

I've been planning to invest a decent bit more money. If you could toss 10k into BTC, ETH, Ripple, Vechain, and make 100k if they re-reach their all time high, is it worth the risk? I think so. I'v never seen such quick money being made in my lifetime.

Out of respect for how much the crypto forum changed my life I have to make a lounge for it.

That's what happens in a bear market. [Image: icon_mrgreen.gif]

They're still here the forum was just merged. You can find any of them you want if you use the search function.

Dunno if I'd put any money into them though right now.

I've got 10K to splash on a high risk investment.

I could put it on red at the Casino, but let's say I can afford to lose it, and I am game to buy crypto.

What investments should I make in the next month? What spread, percentage of what coin?

Bitcoin is still the future, RSA secures your comms, and the ride is going to stay wild so long as socialists at the central bank printing presses keep trying to prop up politically correct form over substance.

If you buy Bitcoin with a long view and sell within 90% of the last all time high to reinvest on the fall you've got a wealth machine to support yourself making a couple trades every 1-4 years. The details are messy and subject to the feeling you get when you put your own scrotum in your hand.

Every alt involves more risk than Bitcoin because power follows value and power is/will be mining Bitcoin. God bless the Chinese language defending human freedom against all odds.

There won't be enough hodlers to sustain a second bullrun, no one's gonna fall for that anymore.

In a bear market, you should be buying in.

As basic as it sounds, I would just buy BTC. Saying this as someone who is more bullish on Ethereum in the long run anyway.

BTC is 52.4% of the crypto market. So it's the "gold standard," no pun intended.

In terms of alt coins...I've always been bullish on Augur.

If a guy is interested in becoming involved with Crypto Day trading what resources are best to get started?

What strategies are best?

Im looking to spend some time learning about this now as I feel it may be a good entry point and we should ha e skme upside with good volatility to trade with for upside potential.

I plan to use my Estonia Corporation to open a trading account. What exchange is best for Euros deposits?

In Estonia you can open a business and a bank account as an e resident. There is no corporate tax on profits retained. Perfect for trading.

Read the bitcoin standard. Most people have a high time preference, so they are only interested in making a quick buck. The real believers have seen this before.

Estonia is one of the supported jurisdictions.

Day trading is topic/thread on it's own. I'm currently dabbling my hand in this. Check your pm.

Arguably between now and August is the best time to put money into crypto. Most of the ones you mentioned are good (Vechain is risky in my view). You can either DCA or wait to see if BTC goes under 3k, which may or may not happen.

Definitely worth the risk, you can't make life changing money with 10k outside of crypto. If you have the mindset of being able to hold for up to 2 or 3 years you will do well.

You can't make life changing money in Crypto except in a mega-bull market, and those things tend to last a while. Plenty of time to get into it if things go well.

Trying to play the game now is just asking to get rekt. (Ask my day-trader buddy who used to spend 2k on dinner and now can't make 2k to pay his rent.) Why not at least wait for some sign that things have turned around? It's not like you can learn much of anything in this market.

1.) Go to an expensive place.
2.) Invite lots of people.
3.) Order lots of alcohol.

Because crypto’s sole advantage was that you could hide money and profits from the government. That’s much harder to do now. The lack of intrinsic value is another part of it.

Illiquidity is another issue most of us in the investment world worry about. At the CFA conference in Hong Kong last year there was a major presentation by a some chick from a crypto firm which was heavily attended but when she admitted that you’d have a hard time easily liquidating $100mm of bitcoin pretty much ended a lot of pm’s interest in the presentation right there. The fact that all of the crypto desks that were in process of opening at places like Goldman and Morgan seem to have completely shut things down was a really big problem because liquidity is a big deal to most real investors because we might want to use the “wealth” we’ve supposedly created.

Why not just buy options on stocks that are associated with real companies or commodities contracts that are associated with actually usable resources.

I think there’s a place in the world for crypto, but it’s never going to make you 50x your investment like it did for the very first investors.

I love the idea of crypto.

I'm not interested in it as an investment but would love to build a marketplace that took crypto as payment instead of having to go through Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, Stripe or any other services that can close you down for saying the wrong thing.

I don't see it happening unless the value is somehow pegged to the dollar. At least in the beginning so people will feel safer in using that type of marketplace. I don't see people wanting to sell in crypto if they worry about cashing out and losing a lot of money.

Is there anything like that at the moment? Is it even possible to do something like that with crypto?

I think that the current business as usual cannot continue.

1. A debt based economic system requiring constant growth to pay ever increasing debt and associated interest requires growth.

2. For an economy to grow it needs ever expanding EROEI. As net energy peaks and declines, growth will be impossible.

3. If growth isnt possible debt will not perform and eventually default.

4. Mass default will lead to deflation and eventually hyperinflation.. Ultimately sovereighn debt crisis.

As the above unfolds it will be systemic and affect the entire earth. Nobody will be immune. Crypto will be a place of refuge to store work. The next wave into crypto will not be speculative... It will be for survival.

Only a fool would put a date on how soon this will happen. Whats important to understand is that this is a thermodynamic mathematical certainty... The question is only the timeline and were people flee to when panic sets in.

Having smart contracts and crypto will be a way to conduct business internationally when chaos reigns and nobody wants your scummy fiat.

They are doing well as always, but stuff is more "underground" right now. Ofc if you look at past years shitcoins like vechain you are wasting ur time.
Its time to buy coins while no one talks about them. Holochain, mumblewee protocols, tradeogre shitcoins, etc...

Because the market is dead. Maybe it will return in 5-10 years.

For the time being let 95% of these 2017-2018 shitcoins go bankrupt hodling eth to zero.

Yeah, you're seeing some nice spikes. Holochain's a 3x or so, which is great. Good to see stuff like that coming back.
My worry is that it's the classic "Picking up pennies under a steamroller" thing, though. All this stuff is tied to BTC and BTC can have giant swings downward that will put an end to your gains.

In 5 years we will have accelerated through the parabolic net energy cliff. EROI will have collapsed and with it economic growth. Without economic growth puting aside economic contratraction, countries currencies Fiat will hyperinflate as world depression/deflation takes hold.

Either way fiat is a bad play.

Either way gold is a store of wealth

Crypto is the only robust answer im aware of. Gold is difficult to conduct business internationally with. A smart contract is a great solution amd replacement for international settlement.

This is a thermodynamic problem of net energy available to conduct work. You can not utilize economic theory to fix the laws of nature. Debt is money and money is debt. Dollars are a lien with interest against future enegy stores that are declining in net value.

Cryptocurrency can survive and thrive in a hyperdeflationary environment unlike fiat. In that respect it is inversly correlated to fiat. Now is the time to buy while there is blood in the streets of crypto.

Unfortunately I do not know which crypto is the best play. Or even if the current crypto options are any good. Time will tell. Its risky... But i think less so than dollars stocks or property 2019 forward.

Im hoping someone can chime in on best plays with the above in mind.

We're going to accelerate through the parabolic net energy cliff AND EROI is going to collapse!

Sounds super scary!

I think the only solution is for you to put your entire net worth into a 100x long on Ripple at Bitmex.
Anything else will result in a hyperdeflationary net inverse crypto correlation that will suck you into a vortex of contraction.
