Run your own business. But you still have to conform to the market and the world in general on some level.

Yeah, don't quit just to quit. WHAT ELSE will you be doing that is going to be more enjoyable? Wasting time, drinking?

There's some anti-education sentiment here, I'd be interested in what percentage of being that say "college degrees are worthless" don't have one.

The real story(I believe) is that when people who do have a degree meet you, if you don't have some great business or visible achievement AND you don't have a degree, they tend to judge you as less intelligent than if you do have a degree.

Yes there are exceptions. You know what exceptions are? The way things usually don't work lol.

It's possible to go to a university and not learn, true. It's also possible to sit on a toilet and not shit. But that doesn't mean you should go shit in the woods.

Ha.

___________

In all seriousness though, universities still have a place for young men if:

1. They choose a difficult major where they do learn from (STEM etc)
2. Minimise accumulation of debt during their studies
3. Actually put in the work to get good grades
4. They learn game and smash heaps of young puss along the way

I studied a business major when I attended university and once I finished I realised that I had little-to-no training in social media marketing, SEO optimisation or sales/ negotiation.

I have probably learned more off free coursera courses and miscellaneous night classes than I did during my studies that cost me ~$20,000.

Food for thought.

I actually LOVE to learn... however i want to be able to direct my education as much as possible. Spend most of my time learning marketing, philosophy, sales, SEO... through Udemy for instance.

I just tend to find that 10-20 years from now people will look more into EXPERIENCES & competencies than a degree.

When i say "non conformist" i mean that i prefer to educate on my own and not following some kind of pre-define system which i find most of the time DON'T actually prepare you to the real working world... but maybe i'm wrong that's just my perspective.

OP, I can relate with you as I'm a non-conformist myself.

My advice, be willing to suck it up and do whatever work you have to just to bank money and/or generate an income while you build up a side business.

The hardest business to start initially is that has huge scalability potential. Everyone is trying to create a product that can be manufactured cheaply and sold for much, much more.

The hard part of this is that startup costs are high. To manufacture something cheaply actually involves spending a lot of money, because you'll only lower the per unit cost by manufacturing in significant volume. Not to mention the expense and work involved in proving the concept.

Save this business for later.

The best way transition into being your own boss and avoiding a lot of the stupidity that comes with office environments or working for others who will expect you to conform is to offer a service.

It doesn't have to be anything glamorous, just something that others don't want to do for the price that you are willing to do it.

Work hard and earn money doing this and you can eventually launch a more scalable business.

You'd be surprised how scaleable "brains" businesses can be. Take a look at Boston Consulting Group: initially they got a great reputation because of their founder, but over time the use of proprietary analytical frameworks and collecting data from the firm's engagements allowed them to scale the firm to be an international organization.

The same goes for businesses like personal training and restaurants. Just because the product can't be factory produced doesn't make it difficult to scale. Gyms can expand by opening new locations with trainers who use the company's own workout routines. Restaurants can "scale" because every single McDonalds or Taco Bell has standardized preparation procedures for each menu item.

It isn't just about being able to move tons of product. You scale ideas or skills by turning them into procedures and processes, then hire other people to implement them in new places.

Suits FTW, bigly.

OP, I was a recruiter for five years.

May I ask, do you have any skills that someone would pay you for tomorrow morning?

Self improvement is nice but the real trick to being a self improvement guru is *having a voice* which no offense doesn't shine thru in your writing. Having a voice comes from having a wealth of hands on experience and first hand knowledge.

Skills for the bills my man. Lets start there.

To learn something real and practical. Its a nice phrase. What is not consider is the shape of the mind and the time it takes to full understand certain things. You sense this a little when people say why do you study when you don't have then the direct experience? To study and educate is to form and shape the mind. Its not direct at the stuff that you learn for an exam, most is not that important later or you just look for it. What is more important at studies is to learn self management, a certain way of problem solving and thinking. Also in the long run it helps you when you at some point did learn about theoretical fundamentals compare to someone that just do it.

At the end you have to shape everything into something of value.

We will stand tall in the sunshine
With the truth upon our side
And if we have to go alone
We'll go alone with pride

For us, these conflicts can be resolved by appeal to the deeply ingrained higher principle embodied in the law, that individuals have the right (within defined limits) to choose how to live. But this Western notion of individualism and tolerance is by no means a conception in all cultures. - Theodore Dalrymple

Get over it. Even as a nonconformist you're still conforming to non-conformity.

Pick your passion(s) and go with it.

Warning: even when you follow your passions, it is still a job, and that, by and large, takes a lot of the fun (but not all) out of your passion. However, at least you'll still have the glimmer of passion that rear their head now and again.

Nothing makes me laugh more than someone conforming to nonconformity.

If you want a nontraditional job,do something freelance, work blue collar, or better yet parlay your law knowledge into something that doesn't make you go to an office or wear a suit.

Protip from a 27 year old who has been in the workforce for awhile: make peace with the man.

This post is funny to me because this forum literally exists to stick it to the man. Game is counterculture, Roosh's work was partially a rebellion against the mundane day-to-day of working in an office. Did we forget this somewhere along the line?

I still recommend taking some business classes. At the least you should know how to read financial statements and the basic operations/marketing metrics.
