I lived in Los Angeles for 2 years and lived in 6,5 years in New York. I think this Los Angeles as a city, is the most over-rated city in the world except the weather.

Why is it overrated though? And what do you think NYC does better then LA? Also what do you see in Los Angeles that is much worse then the NYC counterpart? And what would you say Los Angeles does better then NYC?

Jesus, where do you start?

LA doesn’t even look or feel like a city. You constantly have to drive 30-60 minutes to find girls. Nothing but soulless sprawl.

In NYC, you walk a block.

In LA, there’s the disproportionate number of fake, shady people, P4P culture, terrible air quality, lack of foot traffic, 2 AM closing time, dreadful west coast ratios, full of obese Mexican women, etc. It’s a city plagued by problems.

Bumping this classic to see if anyone has been hitting up pool or day parties this summer in LA?

I'm sure RDF has, so maybe I should just PM him, seeing most guys don't want to get involved with LA and all those soul-less, vapid people and all those obese Mexican girls that live here [Image: tard.gif].

Last season the best ones where at the Roosevelt and the Mondrian. I also went to the LINE Hotel and the Ace in DTLA. The issue with the Roosevelt is that they have, or at least had, different promoters each weekend. So the quality and quantity of girls depended on the quality of the promoter. I don't know if this is still the case this year though.

Of course, the big knock on the Mondrian was that it was falling victim to the Persian Bro curse. For those who don't know, in LA a bar or club opens and gets hot, I mean hot girls all the time, good ratios and good times. This goes on for maybe a month or two, until the Westside Persian bros catch on and flood the place with striped button ups and cologne, and then place goes downhill from there.

But when I went last year it was ok. There were a few Persian and spoiled Bev Hills trust fund Jews, but all and all it was cool. I think it's turned into a bacherolette party destination place if I'm not mistaken.

I met a hot Mexican girl last year at the LINE, and I do like the hotel, although it's a bit small. I don't know how it is this year. Same with the Ace. Ace used to be a cool spot, then it got really gay, but now I don't know. I guess that's the problem with LA. One weekend it's full of Persians or Gays, but then the next weekend is packed with bacherlorette parties and your singer/dancer/actress/model/TV Host wannabees.

Also, I'm pissed that I caught up with work and dropped the all on purchasing Splash House tickets/hotel packages. Now the thing is sold out. Don't know if any members have a ticket to sell to your Old Uncle Dodgy?

For those who don't know, Splash House is a house music festival in Palm Springs that takes place in the pool areas of 3 hotels. Lots of girls, lots of skin, lots of drugs, lots of debauchery.

Great content, I LOLed at the second paragraph. It's amusing just how much some people hate LA (those people tend to suggest Coffee Bean as first dates). The Persian Bro curse is also absolutely accurate.

I've been relatively tame with the summer parties so far due to work + Vegas trips so have only gone a handful of times this summer (will pick it up over the next few weeks). My favorite summer spot on the Westside is The Whaler, its not a crazy party but there's always cute girls and it's just a great vibe on the upper deck. I also went to Highlight Room on the weekend after the 4th, that was pretty fucking fun especially around 3-4pm. The food is whatever at the restaurant but the party was good. I believe this was on a Saturday but they have events both on Sat and Sun.

In general for summertime in LA, I think Main Street/Samo has a worse crowd than in the spring or fall since a lot of the "bridge and tunnel" from the inland suburbs head over. Meanwhile, Hwood/DTLA has a lot of the daytime parties that are more fun than during the spring/fall. I haven't been to Mondrain Skybar this summer but went a few times last summer, its pretty solid. Ace has been much more loungey when I've been, and I've never been to Line.

Will try to update the thread after I check a few other places out.

Unfortunately I don't know anybody with a ticket for sale, but I will be going there this year with a few friends. Haven't been before but heard great things, basically exactly as you describe. If you or any other members end up going, hit me up, I should be out there.

I remember the Whaler as a Sunday Funday spot, haven't been there or Venice in a long time. I just don't know anyone who lives over there anymore.

I've been wanting to check out the Highlight Room, Saturday seems to be like the day to go since it's open till 2am.

Since you're in Hollywood are they still doing Splash Night Fridays at the W over there?

Splash House is a good time. I'm going to try to snag some tickets the week of because I'm sure some will be available. I have a buddy who has an Air bnb with his little crew. Might tag along with them or might get my own. Are you staying at one of the hotels?

It's about time for a quick summer update on the City of Angels. Here's a few thoughts.

- Westside/Samo: The Lincoln has been my fav spot out there the past few months, have gone multiple times and it never disappoints. I do see it going the James Beach route a little... by midnight it gets ridiculously crowded and has a pretty bad ratio, but before that, its great. Plenty of cute girls, both local girls and out of towners, many who aren't as in the "scene" as the hotties in Hwood so are more pullable. Otherwise have hit The Whaler, Hotel Erwin, which are similar to how they've been usually.

- Hwood: Haven't been out there too much. Went to Highlight Room one other time, and it is still good, but definitely heading the wrong direction, not even close to as many Euro chicks as last summer. Otherwise... try EP/LP or Skybar for daytime.

I also hit up Splash House. It was nuts and I would highly recommend it for guys who enjoy a day party environment with good EDM music and high energy. I don't have quite enough info for a full post but here's a few tidbits, can always PM if you have more Qs.
- Out of the 3 hotels (Riviera, Saguaro, Renaissance), I would rank Saguaro is probably the most fun (but zero shade so its hot as fuck), Renaissance is more of a Vegas pool party feel, and Riviera gives you the best of both worlds (great music, some shade, and no huge crowds). I don't think you can go wrong with either.
- If you're staying at one of the hotels, it is really easy to bring chicks up to your room, and its game on from there. I can see guys doing 2 a days if they are determined enough and just hang out at their home pool the whole time.
- Don't get fucked up too early. The heat is pretty brutal when sober, let alone after 10 drinks. Pace yourself throughout the day.
- Girls are typically really cool especially if you look like you're having a good time. I had basically no blowouts.

On a final note, I saw this IG post the other day and was dying of laughter. This one quote basically sums up most LA bitches haha

Not to mention that housing is very expensive in California and the state government tries to milk all your money.

I'd rather live in Santa Barbara, Ventura, or San Diego. At least those places don't feel like endless sprawl

Seven Grand is a whisky bar, I don't remember there being a dance floor and I found Downtown to be better than Hollywood but that's me and you may find different.

What kind of club do you recommend downtown ?

I prefer places with bigger dancefloor , its more fun and eaiser to escalate , girls are more DTF than bars IMHO ?

Casa-nostra,

Both of those are bars. Seven Grand doesn't have a dance floor at all, and Davey Wayne's has a small one that can be fun, but on a Thursday it likely won't be too crazy. I love the place, but it isn't the best spot for traditional dance floor game.

In downtown, Exchange LA is the biggest club but I don't think its open this Thursday. Honeycut is another bar/club that is pretty dance floor focused, open on Thursdays, its not my favorite place but probably the best spot if you're looking for a club in downtown tonight. 1OAK thursdays used to be great, but you probably need a connection or to buy a table, and its in weho so its a drive as well.

If you're young enough (<28 or so), you should consider hitting up the 9-0 near USC (technically called "901 bar") since you're pretty close by. It's the first Thursday of the school year, so it will probably be absolutely insane, filled with drunk hot USC chicks.

Honestly, no club in LA, especially on a Thursday, can remotely compare to what you'll experience in Vegas, so I would consider going to some bars/9-0 rather than trying to find clubs.

Thanks man , iam actually 28 , could look younger easily.

I will try 901 bar , I saw some google pics and have decent dancefloor.

Honeycut worst case.

Any thoughts about Hermosa beach gaming over night ? Because my friend who lives in LA , live in that area , he said we can go there , it has some bars and one club

Or Downtown would be still easier to pull for a Thursday night ?

I'd roll to 901 around 11 at the earliest, will probably be pretty quiet before then, its a late night place that goes from half empty to completely jammed in 30 minutes. If you have strong game, street approaches can be fun too, I've gotten into house parties just by joining random groups before. Seven Grand is decent anytime after 8, though Honeycut is a later evening spot. Have fun man.

Edit: Hermosa seems more like your type of scene, lots of more ratchet bars with dance floors, usually decent on Thursdays. I don't know what club is out there haha, but the bars get pretty lit. I like Hermosa from time to time, its pretty easy to find down girls, but logistics is the issue. A lot of chicks live with their parents and good luck pulling a girl 30 miles away to downtown. I'd def consider it.

Millions of 3rd worlders, most with very little education or capital have been imported here over the last 40 plus years, crime, graffiti, trash and homelessness are exploding everywhere.

Look at the condition of the roads! Ever see what an average street or highway looks like in Japan?

Speaking of the roads, I see a viciousness on the freeways that didn't even seem to be there 10 years ago, not nearly as deadly as what I see in Thailand, but it is pretty bad with many reckless drivers, and fuck the traffic which gets worse every year.

The corruption on the state and local level with pretty much 1 party rule is not as bad as the 3rd world but getting that way.

I agree that some parts of LA (Skid Row, parts of the SFV) are pretty shitty. And when you head east towards to the desert to places like much of the I.E, Victorville, and Antelope Valley, it gets even worse, especially when you consider the meth problem and the fact that there's fuck all to do out there. It's unfortunate to see.

Still though, the wealthy and upper-middle class parts of Socal still stand out to me in terms of beauty. And while some areas (mainly the outer suburbs discussed above) have gotten much worse over the past ~20 years, other areas have improved dramatically. Look at places like Venice Beach or K-Town. I still remember when I was in high school ~10y ago and Venice was where we went to buy weed and got the fuck out before the sun went down. Now it's the 2nd most expensive rental zip code in LA county.

The main reason I like Socal is it is one of the only places in the US where you have access to the upsides of a city (plenty of restaurants, museums, concerts, bars/clubs, ..), and simultaneously have access to the outdoors and nature (beaches, hiking, lakes,..). Not many places where I can go surfing in the morning, do a 10-mile hike in the afternoon while stumbling upon nobody else, grab some fresh seafood, and by evening be suited up ready to go clubbing and try to swoop some of the hottest chicks in the world.

I'm sure there are other amazing places in the world. Southeast Asia, South America are both high on the to-do list (I've traveled through most of Europe and parts of Middle East). For now though, I haven't really found a place I'd want to live in long-term more than out here.

My impression as a short term tourist. The location of the city itself is great, good weather, beaches, the hills. The city itself I would divide into two parts, as suggested in some other thread.
Beach towns/hill towns and the rest.

Beach towns, hill towns is where the wealthy people life. Great locations, beaches are nice, clean. You can have the good life there.

The rest. Well, I took a walk through K-Town. Maybe the wrong part? There were people living in their cars in front of drug stores. One lady took a dumb behind the trunk of her car as I walked by.
Spare yourself the time, Korea town or Thai town is nothing to look at.

The city generally consists of stores / chain stores and unmaintained streets. As it doesn't rain much, Hollywood / Walk of fame has a slight smell of piss hanging in every corner the street.

Riding the metro you can experience how insane people, drug addicts or homeless people act crazy and everybody in the train tries their best to ignore them.

Beach towns 9/10
Rest 2/10, wouldn't live there

The bolded sentences can also describe New York City, Chicago, Miami, Detroit and Newark. I guess those cities are third world too.

But here is some actionable intel:

If you go to the Harlowe get there around 9:30. Like RDF mentioned in his OP for some reason at 10pm this placed automatically fills up. I've been here twice on Saturdays over the past couple of weeks and it will be dead at 9:45 but legitimately packed to the gills a half an hour later.

Get there early though to find a spot at the bar, or outside on the patio. These are prime spots for when it gets packed and you can just open girls who are hovering around you trying to get a drink. There are also girls there early as well for drinks or dinner so don't waste time and open them first, because when it gets packed the music is turned up and the lights go down; so you're going to have to shout at some girl who may or may not be hot. So like I said, the patio area is a good spot to post because it's quieter and you can see what she looks like.

But even though its too loud, too dark and too crowded for me the Harlowe is worth checking out from 9:30 to 11pm or so and then bouncing somewhere else. The girls are basic Hwood/Weho "brunch is life" girls, but they're decent. But don't come here after 11pm because a line forms and although the Harlowe is worth checking out, it's honestly not worth it to wait 30 minutes to get into a this place when it's so packed.

At least I don't think so.

I am from Europe and I am going to spend a few days in Los Angeles. I will be staying in a classy appartment at Sunset Strip and have some bucks to spend however I have no connections nor local knowledge.

I am in my mid thirties, fit, tall, well traveled, can hold a conversation and I am confident when exploring nightlife spots.

Could anyone recommend any good places where I could approach girls? I am looking for a late 20s / early 30s crowd.

There is a lot of good info on this forum but I cannot quite gauge where I should go to avoid spots with very young crowds. Since logistcs is an issue in LA, I am trying get some more info from you guys so that I am not wasting time switching places.

Many thanks!

the best spot logistically from Sunset Strip is Hollywood, which meets your criteria for age range and is more open to ONS than other parts of LA, depending on where you are from in Europe the foreign aspect will help. LA has the most volitle night life of any North American city in my opinion, but many good recommendations about Hollywood have been made and i would suggest trying a few and seeing what works.

Marcello,

Staying on Sunset Strip should be nice, there's some great apartments with good views in that area. If you have $ to spend, and are looking for a late 20s/early 30s crowd, I'd look at one of the following spots. These should be either walking distance or a short uber assuming I understand where you're staying correctly. I'd recommend getting to these at ~9 to increase chances of getting in.

Skybar - At the Mondrain Hotel. They usually play more lounge music but its a great view and can be fun.

Chateau Marmont - I've only been here once a few years ago, but it fit the description you give. Might even be a 30s/40s crowd, just depends on the night. Worth taking a look.

Ysabel - Strongly recommend it, generally easy to get into before the eve since its a restaurant, and then just post up at the bar or outside. Lots of hotties. Very much a sniper approach type spot where you might make 1-2 moves an hour, but they can pay off. Easy to talk once you get in with a girl.

Hyde - I will caution that getting in here is HARD. You can call them and try to make a reservation or something. But, if you do get in, you will see some of the best-looking women in LA. Since you're right in the area and only around for a bit, it is worth a shot. Girls are likely more early/mid20s but the competition is typically your age or older.

Otherwise, feel free to look through the datasheet and see if other spots strike your fancy. Hwood/Weho in general can be an "older" crowd, so unless you go to Harlowe or The Den, you won't feel like the old guy. Basically all of the nicer restaurants/lounges would fit your criteria. Have fun!

LA isn't a very formal city. You can rock a suit if you're older, but from my experience it is overkill. I usually roll with a v-neck + jeans with a nice blazer, that is nice enough to get in basically everywhere without looking overdressed.
