Medellin data sheet April 2018

I have visited Medellin for a week and I want to give a feedback on my short vacation.

Me: I grew up in Venezuela I am 33 5,7”

I have visited Medellin last November for a week and I met one girl from Envigado and one more from Nyquia (I spent the entire week with both girls seeing one after the other pretty much during my first vsit)

Logistics: I did stay near la 70 and UPB (Estadio station) nice Airbnb (US$150 for the week for nice bachelor)

Daygame:

La 70 “Laureles”: I like la 70 because it is flat and it is easy to walk around with nice night life.
-This place is gold mine for students from the University UPB during school hours and later at night you have the party going on along La 70 so, always busy.
-I approached one girl as we come out of the metro station, it was raining and I said hey, can I go under your umbrella? She said yes, so we talk and I convinced her for a drink on la 70 (she was about 30 and a solid 7) we exchanged number and booked a later date ended up at my apartment work done
-I go to the grocery store and the cashier is about 20 yrs old a 6.5. I said hi and later asked what time we were going out for coffee she blushed and smiled like never expected that from me. She said she was always busy and she couldn’t make it for coffee so no number

Unicentro (Mall)” Laureles”: Steps away from la 70, Food court with nice coffee places, stores (I went to do my Claro SIM card here), Currency exchange, and the GYM
-I was going here at least every two days and I tried to approach at least once every visit. I did manage to get one GYM girl number. As I saw her come out of the GYM I asked her some BS question about the GYM she was a 6.5 and about 25 years old (later met her we made out but no bang and she was open for more going out)
-At the Claro store I asked the girl who installed my SIM card for her number by telling her I did have a phone number now but I did not have anyone to call out for dinner that night. She smirked and said she couldn’t. She looked 25 and a 7
-Having coffee with my cousin a milf is giving me the look like she was interested and you can tell when this happens in Medellin (she looked in her mid 40’s and was a 6) I kept looking at her but did not approached

Parque Sabaneta “Sabaneta”: You can take the subway to the metro station Sabaneta and cab from there to the park or walk. Once at the park, plenty of Fondas (bars) and restaurants you just need to walk around.
-I approached a solid 8 looked like 25 and managed to get her number she was heading out and we agreed to plan for later (she flaked so I did not bother to text anymore)
-I talked to two girls and managed to get their number. They invited me to party in Sabaneta when I told them I wanted to know more about Medellin neighbourhoods. They were both 24 and single moms a solid 7. Saturday night we went to a bar called Cosmopolitan (I wouldn’t go there on my own however, met both there with their group, I went straight forward with the one I like better and we hooked up later we went to my place worked done.

Estacion Universidad: You have Parque explora, University of Antioquia, Jardin Botanico, Planetario, a mall too with the GYM inside. This place is simply busy 24/7 and lots of opportunities to open girls.
-I met here with the girl I know from Niquia. I spent the day with her and we ended up at my place till next day
-I recommend coming to this place around 4 PM and just ask girls around to take your picture and take it from there. If you have day game, this is a spot

Night game:

Sabaneta: Plenty of fondas around the park which you can surf around and talk to locals as they are very open to talk to tourist. Here you will find quality and most important local girls who are not chasing after gringos (the way you find in Poblado) I recommend you get there and act quickly! So do not spend your night looking around, I will go to any girl and start asking questions about Medellin in general and also about what makes Sabaneta so special… They will be happy to talk to you about their town
-Girls here are not going to be the ones who have travel around the world or the ones who speak 3 languages however, they all wear tight clothing, make up and heels more that often
-There is not club scene here. The area is more like local bars (fondas) so I encourage you to ask this girls to show you some dancing moves

Envigado: I visited Parque Envigado and the bars around it which are pretty much the same as in Sabaneta
-I recommend to visit (if you have a wing man it is much better) around 8pm for night game and them check out a Bar (fonda) for a few drinks and talk to the local even if they are in groups they are very friendly and open (most groups I found were made of more women than men)
-I went to Fonda Palo Grande which is very exclusive, a guy singing Colombian music and stuff so I will visit after 11PM and I find it much better if you meet a girl during day game and invite her to this place

La 70 “Laureles”: Just walk along this street and visit one place at the time… it is this simple (approach, approach and approach more)

I have to say Medellin is a very nice city where you can easily talk to people and approach women as long as you play it simple ( do not try to impress and let this girls tell you more about their town and culture)

I did approach plenty of girls, lots of numbers and most of them agreed to meet up for a later date but I sadly had to go. Anyhow, I still talk to some of them and they are open to meet up for the next time I am back in town

Is Colombia safe? It may not be a good time to do the comuna 13 graffiti tour!

Is Medellin on the brink of another war?

Quote:Quote:

Medellin officials said Thursday that the military has taken over parts of the city after fighting between local crime syndicate Oficina de Envigado and AGC paramilitaries escalated.

The military entered the 13th District where fighting between the gangs loyal to the groups has violently disrupted years of relative peace.

The gangs were not impressed. When Mayor Federico Gutierrez visited the district in an attempt to urge for calm, they opened fire.

Locals in the west are terrified after pamphlets appeared announcing an impending “social cleansing” to oust the paramilitaries from the city.

Bus companies suspended parts of the 13th and 12th district on Wednesday and the city’s metro announced it had suspended cable car services after passengers at one of the stations came under fire.

National authorities issue alert
Colombia’s ombudsman issued an alert for the west and southwest of the city, warning the Interior Ministry about what “seems to be a serious threat to the AGC’s control over the mobility corridors in this part of Medellin.”

According to Verdad Abierta, a website dedicated to monitoring armed conflict in Colombia, communities in the northwest of the city have also rung the alarm over increased tensions.

The paramilitaries, who control the roads between Medellin and their heartland in the Uraba region, have had tensions with La Oficina since 2007 when former Oficina boss “Don Berna” allegedly ordered the assassination of AGC founder Vicente Castaño.

Fighting between La Oficina and a breakaway gang that aligned with the AGC cost the lives of thousands between 2008 and 2011.

The mayor’s clothes
The mayor ignored the ombudsman’s alert and claimed that the violence and threats are a retaliation for his administration’s successes in combating organized crime.

Gutierrez’ credibility, however, has been in tatters ever since the arrest of his hand-picked security chief last year. A judge sentenced former Security Secretary Gustavo Villegas to three years in prison for his ties to La Oficina earlier this year.

Homicides in Medellin have been going up since Gutierrez took office in 2016, and skyrocketed again this year.

According to newspaper El Tiempo, homicides in the first months of this year were 24.2% higher than in the same same period last year.

Medellin’s homicide rate

Medellin’s corruption-ridden police department has been unable to curb violent street crime for years, leading to extreme social violence as citizens take the law into their own hands.

Two men were shot and killed on Thursday when they allegedly tried to rob the car of an armed man in the 16th District.

Robberies in Medellin

The resistance of Comuna 13
Locals in the 13th District have adamantly rejected the violence that flared up.

The region saw some of the city’s worst violence in the beginning of the century when local police, the military and Don Berna teamed up to oust Marxist militias that had controlled the area for years.

Despite the war crimes committed in the paramilitary “Operation Orion” in 2002, government secretary Santiago Gomez said Thursday that “we hope we don’t reach the point for another Operation Orion in the 13th District.”

Locals were infuriated after years of demanding justice for the war crimes committed in the traumatic operation.

“Are you serious? You consider that a fucking possibility?” social leader and rapper Jeihhco responded on Twitter.

Senator Claudia Lopez (Green Alliance) and journalist Juan Diego Restrepo urged the mayor to not return to war in the west of the city.

“Gutierrez ordered to cut funds for social programs to invest them in security. Today we feel … like it’s 1991” when Pablo Escrobar, the first boss of La Oficina, terrorized the city. “The failure is complete.” said Restrepo.

“Medellin may neither regress in security nor return to the dark epidoses of Operation Orion,” said Lopez.

Just remember that while places like la 70 appear to be safe, the riff raff from comunas 12 and 13 are just a short metro ride away, literally three strops.

@Churros, I have not been to Venezuela in over 3 years now however, if you are in Colombia there is a high chance to hook up with Venezuelan girls as they are all over the place and easily recognisable when they talk

@Scotian, I did spent my time around the areas I mentioned inclusing Centro during the day and always being cautios. I never encountered any issues while I was in Medellin sr

I always try to get the best logistics (walking distance to dates, clubs) for efficiency - both timewise and making things easier with da girlies.
Seems like the closer to La 70 the better is my best bet in term of Laureles? Probably the closer to the unicentro the better?

Thanks, great right up.

I prefer to stay near estadio but up by Unicento is ok too although the mall itself isn’t that great, the malls in Poblado are much better. I like the bars, fondas and small clubs on la 70 like Pica De Botella but honestly they’re not as cool or trendy as in other areas, some guys may not like the night life on la 70 but the area basically has everything a guy needs.

Is that area also good for daygame as the malls aren't that good? As I see La 70 could be good for dates and some bar game, but how is it during the day?
First time in Medellin, learning Spanish - thought it would be better there as there are more locals. Any other areas I should think of?
Thanks.

In Medellin, I am more concerned about the rise in BO having, short and flip flop wearing, drug and coke snorting backpackers than I am any gangs or crime. The crime will hopefully keep the backpackers away. I am starting to see memes popping up on Medellin friends's Instagrams about "Gringo starter kits." coke, cheap beer, flip flops, deodorant stick with a red line through it... you get the point. Not the reputation you want.

I have been seeing that
meme all over my whatsapp feed as well...there is also one on the energy building being a gringo/sex tourist rental....basically alluding to if you stay in the energy building or your seen coming from there your working it.....MDE is still an amazing city....but for my personal tastes I prefer other cities...rarely make it to MDE anymore for longer than 2-3 days....just seen to much detoration with invasion of foreigners (backpackers/tourist) over the past 7 years....

Why would you associate with mochilleros anyway? I haven't any big experience in Medellin, but everywhere else I travelled in Latino America I always made the point of staying away from creepy ass gringos and melting in with locals or long term residents. If you speak the language and are a normal dude you get all the pros of being a foreigner without the stigma of a sex tourist

I never said I associate with mochilleros. The issue is that regular girls are starting to associate mochilleros with ALL foriegners. The meme didnt say "Mochillero starter pack." It said "gringo starter pack". All of us are gringos in Colombia. Its not the end of the world. You can work passed that stereo type fairly easily by showing value but that stigma is not helping, thats for sure.

Actually the point is that in Medellin there are no longer "Pros of being a foreigner." That is what I am saying. That mindset is gone now. It used to be that way. Being a foreigner gave you a leg up before. Now it is starting to give you a deficit. As many can attest to, Medellin used to be a place where a guy could pull significantly above his weight. That is no longer the case. A good looking guy with game will still do very well in Medellin but that guy can do well anywhere.

I still live in Medellin because I know the city very well, speak spanish fluently and have many other things going on besides chasing women. The quality of life is very high in medellin and I love it for that. But, it would not be on my list of places to go to get easy, quality lays. It used to be #1 for me.
