Beer Without Hops

Beer Without Hops

I'm a wine guy professionally, but even I want to drink something else occasionally.

We all know about the evils of hoppy beers giving you man-boobs.

But beer seems to be so entrenched in out culture that it's not going to disappear any time soon.

So I did what any enterprising alcoholic would do - looked for beers with no hops.

So far I've found this article - https://www.mensjournal.com/food-drink/b...s-germany/

The brands in the article are:

Aventinus
Hard Wired Nitro
Samuel Adams Double Bock
Session Lager
Allagash White
Chimay Blue
Devils Backbone Vienna Lager
Dirty Bastard
The Kimmie, The Yink & The Holy Gose
Wisconsin Belgian Red
Southern Pecan
Andechser Weissbier Hell

Sadly, where I am the only one I can source easily is Chimay Blue.

Any other alcoholics here know of zero-hop beers available commercially?

Feel free to PM me for wine advice or other stuff

Alcohol and wheat will make you fat and inflamed, so its better to cut back then to look for beer with no hops.

But to answer your question, most white or wit beers have coriander and orange peel instead of hops.

Probably the best known white beer is Hogaarden (Belgian). Celis White (Ausitin Tx) is no longer availble. Blue Moon is somewhat similar but has hops.

Hogaarden is similar to Chimay Blue but less intense. I liike both, but Chimay is something you sip while Hogaarden is more drinkable.

Sorry Hypno, but some of that info you gave is incorrect.

-Hoegaarden has hops.

-Hoegaarden has almost no similarity to Chimay blue, besides both being beer. Chimay blue is a strong dark ale, and Hoegaarden is a lighter style, Belgian white.
