How do you get a physique like Mitchell Johnson?

So how do you get a physique like the retired Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson?

He has an ideal athletic physique, I know a few people aspire to have the same physique like him.

I watched a video, which unfortunately has been taken off and he said he doesn't do a lot of upper body work, it's more to do with core and lower body work since he was a fast bowler.

I doubt he does a 5*5 or split day workout routine. He bowls fast so he needs to keep those fast twitch muscles working.

So what kind of workout or can you name me any workout's which he may adhere to (track runners)?

Thanks

Chances are his workout is geared towards his sport. Look up fitness training routines for cricket. Likely a lot of conditioning with some resistance training peppered in.

Just googled this dude and his physique is nothing extraordinary at all. No different than a typical mid-20's kid with a relatively active lifestyle. Lean but not much muscle mass. You can achieve this look with diet and a 3-day a week strength and conditioning workout not very crazy.

Played high level cricket as a teenager, and trained/played with national and state level players/coaches

Fast bowlers have a ridiculous work ethic.

Fast bowlers must place a huge amount of focus on leg and core strength and fitness, as well as general cardio. You'll want to spend a lot of time doing things like situps/crunches, planks, leg raises, and compound weights/exercises that encourage full body strength, balance and coordination.

You'll be doing tons of sprints and running

On the first day of the Boxing Day Test 2013, Australia’s Mitchell Johnson covered 23 Kilometers over the course of the day. That included 144 sprints at a top speed of 33.1 Kilometers per hour.

Fast bowling is incredibly stressful on the body, and a potentially mammoth effort over a several day test match, so high level fast bowlers need to dedicate a lot of time to ensure their core is strong enough to support their bodies through the abuse (Dennis Lillee actually managed play a large portion of his career with multiple stress fractures in his back, thanks to a core fitness regime which allowed him to remodel his bowling action into a less stressful motion that is still used by fast bowlers today)

Johnson's regime specifically involves more heavy weight work and focuses more on explosive power, as he's generally employed in short bursts specifically for his explosive potential, then rested up to use again later.

Johnson eats a high protein, low carb diet.

Also, he trains at a gym that only takes 100 members and boots anyone who isn't working hard enough

Fast bowling in and of itself is basically HIIT, and requires a lot of dedication. Just by virtue of being a fast bowler, your fitness level is likely well above average.

Cricketers have a special kind of fitness - can't think of many other sports that are played over a 5 day period, where you might run multiple marathons, and still be expected to sprint 50-100m flat out at the end of the 5th day to stop the other team scoring a single point

TL;DR: Sprints, core work, compound weights, high protein/low carb diet, work fucking hard

Great, thank you both for your replies and I appreciate your detailed comments. I'll put your comments into practice.

I'm not sure how often, however he used to work out at The Mill gym and also with the Australian cricket team.

He's physique looks very impressive in this video working out a few years ago at The Mill gym especially from 0.25 onwards until the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7al8EN6rXw

But he is fit and healthy... he is natural, lean, strong and has exceptional endurance etc..and therefore most likely good mental health too.

problem is cunts look up to physiques like zyzz and fags like that running around with their tren rent a muscles promoting healthy lifestyles which couldn't be further from the truth.

natural, lean, strong, healthy any day.

For threads like this, i think its a waste of time to discuss "how do i get a physique like x" because chances are you never will.

Your skeletal structure, muscle bellies, and genetics are entirely different. Sure you may get a similar appearance after achieving similar stats but that typically isnt why people make threads like these right?

I highly encourage everyone to sculpt their own physiques based on their own ideal images rather than look for the bare minimums to aquire mediocre physiques on internet forums.

Lift to be strong, lift for confidence, and lift for health and the aesthetics that come with it. But most of all lift for yourself.

Its going to be very interesting 20-30 years from now to see how many guys in Australia and the UK in their then 50s have pretty bad health problems from following the Zyzz lifestyle in their youth. Frequent badly administered cycles, no cardio, and lots of party drugs are a risky long-term combination.

Theres probably a healthy middle-ground between Mitchell Johnson and Zyzz, though, physique-goal-wise. Professional rugby union players are more heavily muscled than Johnson, while also still being extremely cardio fit. They're a good physique goal for men to aim for if they want to be muscular while also healthy / natural / generally physically fit for all-purposes.
