Good insight; thanks. By L word I think you mean "Love" right? When I say Ya Tibya Lublu early in the convo girls do seem very surprised that I would use such a phrase so lightly; when I don't really mean it. That being said, I think it helps more than hurts as it adds a playful element to the conversation. I might follow up with lets get married and move to america. Yeah I saw that more women than men thing was because life expectancy of women was much longer than men; and men had got killed off in old conflicts; so it doesn't affect us picking up girls because we are still competing with younger men.

In SPB or Moscow I didn't feel love for being an american. Sure girls thought it was interesting for a few sentences but for the most part weren't impressed. Overall in the last year of travel all over S. America and E. Europe (ever since Trump has been president) I've found it very embarrassing to say I'm American. I'd almost rather say I'm Canadian to avoid the girl trying to start a political debate.
But anyway, in Novosibirsk I have a friend who wears a huge american flag plastered on his jacket and his beanie. I must say I'm jealous and would like to do the same thing. Novosibirsk is the only eastern euro city I would feel comfortable doing that.

Cool info. Where did you get the birth ratio data from? I am genuinely interested in exploring this subject. I say that there are more women than men from personal observation. These are some places where I go and notice more women than men: cafes, restaurants, supermarket, mall, bars, metro.

It's a combination of Siberia (so they are a bit less snobby) and the fact that Irkutsk is considered a bit more sophisticated for that area, but the local economy sucks. The girls are cute and bored, and the available men are poor drunks. But it might just be a matter of taste...I hate girls that wear a lot of makeup and try to be model thin. Give me a sweet non-feminist 20 year old college student any day.
