Ripple (XRP)

Ripple (XRP)

I've decided to put aside my ideological hang ups for XRP and buy in at $0.30. In terms of making money I now think XRP is the safest coin to be in after Bitcoin.

While I do like Ethereum, there's no guarantee it can successfully upgrade their token to proof of stake in a reasonable time frame. It's questionable whether they will achieve it in the next 2 years and I suspect ETH devs will keep telling us it's 2 years away. And if they actually increase transaction speed there's no point because there's close to zero adoption of dApps. Maybe in 5-10 years it will become big but for the rest of us with a 1-2 year time horizon XRP is looking tons better than everything else.

Late in 2018, Ripple launched XRP based service called xRapid. It's a cross border payment system for banks and exchanges that settle payments in less than 4 seconds and costing less than $0.01 USD. That's at least 10x better than conventional bank remittance transfers. Many banks and exchanges are beginning to adopt xRapid and the result is steady adoption of XRP. Something you don't see happening in Bitcoin or ETH.

Burner, I would also never buy XRP due to my ideological vision of the crypto world and blockchain but in terms of speculation just bear in mind that they just have only around 40% of the coins in circulation, while 60% is held by them and being released on the market continuously. To make a comparison 84% bitcoin have been mined already. A high percentage of coins not yet on the market is going to create a constant selling pressure on the value...

60% held in escrow/smart contract and 1b released every month. I'm aware of this

Do yourself a favour and hold your XRP (not Ripple stock I assume) 3-5 years minimum. A 10-20% pump is nothing compared to the potential value if/when utility rather than speculation starts driving the price. I am sure it will surpass BTC in market cap eventually.

I don't think that XRP has what it needs to surpass Bitcoin in market cap. The thing with XRP is that it divides the people of the cryptosphere.
While there are some who like it and buy it, there are others who would never take it, for whatever reason.
Moreover XRP is also constantly under heavy pressure, because they try to come with many promises, but at the end it will not serve nothing. Sure banks might join them because of the fees, but come on, now with the lightning network, plus many other potentially good coins around the corner, what is the thrill to have XRP. Make money fast? It will fail very soon.

I wouldn't hold XRP forever. The lesson of early 2018 was to take profits. I have no qualms about FOMO'ing out at 200k sats or $3.00 USD. I think there's a high probability XRP will revisit these levels and even surpass it based on what I see happening.

I learned the hard way that hating on a coin for puritan reasons is a bad idea if you want to be rich. I've always hated XRP but it's obvious to me now I'm just hurting myself by not having a position in it.

Will it ever flip Bitcoin? It's possible but far off. If xRapid and XRP become the bank remittance standard at every bank, sure. Is it likely to happen in the next 3 years? No.

After December 2017 I just bought some more. This price is fair and I am happy to see some movement in crypto generally.

Almost 20%+ gain on xrp...One of my best investments ever for the short period of time.
Feels pretty fucking good, really getting hooked into investing in cryptocurrency and just investing in general.

We will see how it turns out, but if it goes above the last ATH, which is around $3, I will be pretty happy with that.

I am sure it has possibility to go beyond that, but we will see how it turns out.

Scam coin. No thanks.

XRP isn't a scam coin, ripple actually has real use for it. There are thousands of scam coins out there. XRP isn't one of them.

No enterprise customer uses xrp. Now with jpm coin I don't think they ever will either. Other banks will probably make their own stable coins. You can still use the ripple network without the xrp token.

It will do -10% to -30% even throughout couple days, but I am VERY CERTAIN that the bear market is over and it will skyrocket right after that, I am just going to buy more on it when it dips HARD.

The bullish momentum is IN and it's going to be really hard to turn that back around.

JPM coin is incomparable with XRP, because it settles different issues. If every bank created their own coin, it could be used only internal bank operations. But XRP is designed for international payments. What I see as advantage is the facts, that its not project of few geeks, but business product with active team, clear goal and good marketing.

Exactly.

The top executives usually set the "tone" of a company and Brad Garlinghouse is one of the most active, powerful and committed CEO that I have ever seen next to CZ Binance (within crypto space..)

I can just FEEL the ambition that he has and his goals whenever I see him during interviews. MBAs are not everything, but this guy has an MBA from Harvard and just one of those guys who continue to WIN after a WIN. (Look at the track record of Brad before Ripple, it's pretty phenomenal.)

You can tell he doesn't choke under massive pressure.

XRP already does international monetary fund transfers through coinbase cheaper than banks. I am certain that xrp is here to stay along with bitcoin and ethereum. True Globalization here.
