Cryptocurrency Arbitrage Trading

Cryptocurrency Arbitrage Trading

I've been reading about Crypto Arbitrage trading and I'm curious if any of you have done this before?

Because of the inefficiencies of the exchanges, there are unique arbitrage opportunities for selling coins from one exchange to the other.

For example, on Coinbase BTC can be trading for 10K while on Bittrex BTC can be trading at 10.5K. (This is an extreme example but I am just making a point.)

Many coins have up to a 10-15% price difference.

This is a good video that explains this opportunity:

A good app that can show all the different price differences between exchanges is Blockfolio

Another one that I haven't used before but I've heard good things is Coinigy. https://www.coinigy.com/

With Coinigy, you can make instant trades between exchanges.

In theory, if you want to hold a coin you can easily make a 10% gain in a single trade by selling from one exchange to the other

The most famous example is the price difference between BTC in US and Korean Markets

Have any have guys tried this? What were the results?

I've certainly been paying attention to this. I imagine some smart coders out there have already built bots to take advantage of these opportunities, just like the hedge funds involved in high frequency trading in the stock market.

Gimmer has developed bots which can do this, and they'll be available for people to rent from their platform. You can also create your own bot strategies for automated trading, arbitrage or lending and then rent these out to people for a commission. ICO is still open https://gimmer.net/

Agreed, if you think that sending BTC from one exchange to another is instantaneous, think again. Some BTC transactions can get stuck processing for DAYS. Yea, you read that right, DAYS. Imagine how much you can make if you purchased BTC at 19k and by the time it hit the next exchange, it drops to 14k.

If you want to arb, you need to have money on both exchanges already so you can instantly do the buy and sell.

Waiting for an exchange to exchange transfer (even for something fast) is too slow and you'll miss the chance.
