Not sure which path to take

Not sure which path to take

Hi I'm a 19 year old living in India. I'm currently a sophomore at a Big 10 university finishing courses from online while on medical leave from the campus due to ADD and generalized anxiety.

As my GPA slips and my last two semesters went horribly, I am sure the university route isn't for me. I'm pretty sure I am only going to get partial credit (enough to be a part-time student, but I don't know if I can come back to campus, which I hope for).

I am not sure if I should continue there, or join a CC and get a STEM degree from uni after transferring. This is my other main option.

Along with that, I love music, play guitar and am into hip-hop production. I don't know if it would be worthwhile at my age to pursue these and get really good, and even then I wouldn't know how to make it big (earning money) from these skills.

Sales is also something I want experience in.

The point is, I don't know what to do with my life and am open to any suggestions from you guys. I need to get out of here sometime briefly after the New Year where I can collect notches (possible at college). I love my family but I can't live with them, it's driving me nuts because I am not independent and there is just too much guilt tripping and emotional blackmail when it comes to my parents. The only non-college situation where I could live by myself would be in Atlanta, where I would have to get some kind of job or internship.

Not sure how to go about it, but I'm open to any ideas you may have. Thanks

If my verbiage confuses you, I don't believe that you go to a Big-10 university.

Where did I repeat myself in the text you quoted?

He's currently lives in India because of medical leave, but he's finishing his courses online at his Big 10 university.

I don't know how it works, but that's how I read it.

If he doesn't understand the content of my posts, I doubt he has the skills to get into a Big-10 university.

In all seriousness, what is my best option?

ADHD is challenging. Couple that with anxiety and it makes for a difficult college experience.

1) Try to figure out some means to handle the ADHD. Visit a doc if you can and try to get on Vyvanse or the like. This can have night and day impact. Be very deliberate about courseload and how you manage your entire college experience.
2) Decide whether sex or career come first. Because of the ADHD balancing the two will be difficult, so you may have to go without notches or without being particularly social for a period of time. This is especially the case if you go down the engineering route.
3) Sales is much easier than engineering on ADHD. However, good luck getting Indian parents to buy into their golden child becoming a lowly salesman. If you go down the sales route, take easiest major. Get the degree. Focus on social skills and internships involving you selling.
4) Your GPA will likely be shitty for the remainder of college. That is, unless you drastically make lifestyle and environmental changes.
5) Given this, focus on internships. Focus heavily on internships. Wouldn't hurt to extend college out, and take several off-cycle internships. Internships will allow you to build up your resume, and mask your likely shitty GPA.
6) Your parents would balk at you doing music, hip hop production or guitar. Justifiably so. Unless you have the money to independently support yourself, it makes more sense to focus on getting your career in order.
7) Again, college is rather difficult for those with ADHD. As is life after college. However, after college, you can rely on whatever strengths you foster.

Cheers
