Have now cashed out 75% of my BTC investment.
After several months of looking at every single ALT, from ETH to Bitconnect to Renos to Wild Beast Block, I've come to the opinion that there are only two projects that are actually A.) an intelligent use of a blockchain and B.) not wildly overvalued.
These two projects are Everex and TEU. (LAT's asset tokenization and CVC's identity protection make them potential runners up, but I'm not convinced by LAT's promises and CVC's 100 mill+ valuation for something that currently has zero real-world application is ludicrous.) PART, if it ever gets built, would be one as well, but right now it's essentially vaporware.
Everex is a trash tier investment. Don't invest in it, you'll lose all your money. TEU is... I don't know what TEU is as an investment but you can't even buy it right now so it doesn't matter.
Anything that's good rapidly gets its valuation inflated a million times by greedy investors with dreams of buying the next ETH. Anything that isn't... well, it'll probably get its valuation inflated too.
I'm still playing a little, because it's easy money flipping sheer junk like $FLIK into the hands of idiots who don't do their research. But I can't wait until the market goes into a long bear period and all of this junk dies.

If wtc get their secure rfid tech patented, without a explosion in market cap, would you consider it intelligent and non-overpriced?
Thanks for mentioning Everex, I can afford to lose 1 eth on it next paycheck if it doesn't go up too much.

Two interesting ones showed up on ED today, Enigma and Cindicator:
Cindicator is probably pretty good but it's not going on exchanges for a while and finding the contract is hard.
Enigma is dying.
Just an awful, awful week for alts.

This is why I said masternodes are a bad idea, btw, because they keep you from making good buy/sell decisions.
"I should sell because it's dropping, but I can't because then I lose my masternode..."

Bought some ENG on Binance.
First time using Binance, what a shitty site.

Yeah someone turned me on to pro and I like it a lot more.
I do NOT like that ENG dropped 25% in the span of an hour. That I don't like.

SamB I’ve been following your posts. Seems like your arc in crypto has been similar to mine. I came to the same conclusions on most crypto being crap/overvalued. Getting back in lately as recent volatility is easy money. The big problem is long bear periods.

I'm just starting to not feel good about it.
It doesn't feel like I'm ushering in a new generation of brilliant technology, it feels like I'm playing musical chairs with a game of deaf idiots, except when they lose I take their money. It's easy money, but it's money coming from people who probably need it more than I do.
I've gone from awe and fascination, to elation, to just a kind of general disdain. I cashed out my principal + a giant chunk, so at this point in my mind it's not even real money. It's a video game I'm playing, the same way I used to play Warcraft or Final Fantasy when I was younger.
I think I felt more emotion when I got cut off in traffic than when I lost 750$ in the span of a few minutes on ENG. I was more elated when I got a particularly good smoothie at the local juice place then when BTC went from 4600$ to 5800$.
Blockchain and distributed ledger technology is amazing. Bitcoin is amazing. They're going to change the world in so many ways.
The current crop of products on the market though, are 99% junk.

That’s why I was saying months ago I there needs some regulation. The ICO nonsense clogs up the Transactions and takes away from Public trust in the technology. It’s slowing the whole process down in many ways. It also takes developers away from the important projects. Makes investors like us lose interest. Etc.

I think what's going to happen in the next year or two is this:
1. The bear/bull market cycles will decide the winners and losers of the alt market. The winner alts will moon. The loser alts will wash out.
2. During a bear market, everything goes down, including BTC itself. But the alts will get hit much harder. "When BTC sneezes, alts catch a cold"
3. Then when the next bull market comes, the shit alts (95-99% of all alts) will merely flatline and die. The money will consolidate into BTC, ETH, and the good alts with real technology behind them. Picking these winner alts is where the real money is going to be.
This is why it's smart to invest in alts that have teams actually working on their projects, has an actual product out (or under development and can show proof of it), and has solid backing.

Does anyone have PIVX?
Just recently I decided to transfer my coins to a wallet. But the official PIVX wallet is uncomfortably counter user-intuitive! I installed it, and it says 'out of sync'. What should I do?

Let it sit. The wallet needs to synch up. It'll get there eventually.

Why did you decide to cash out? I'm going all in on the next dip, and jumping ship on the alts asap.

This is a fair assessment.
I'm waiting for the first major project to die. Curious what it's gonna be.
Could it be STRAT? SiaCoin? Golem Network Token? Maybe Aragon, the dark horse?
When that happens we'll see a massive chain reaction.
STRAT has taken a major major beating. Not even azure or Microsoft or whatever partnership they had can save it.
I think it will be the first of the blue chips to fall hard.
