Yes, Napoleon was a Corsican player, and French people know what this means (and of course young Napoleon would be on sick leaves all the time, it's the Corsican specialty, their amusing laziness is quite legendary), but in any case, Napoleon was nothing, the Grand Army was everything. And the Grande Armee (the greatest thing the world had ever known since Gengis Khan) was made up, essentially, by French natives.
As to the modern Corsicans, they are now provincially ruled by a nationalist, openly discriminatory assembly, but at the same time, they (less and less though, truth be told) fight against mainland-France nationalists.
Reminds me of another country. Fanatically and intelligently nationalist inside, but (less and less though, truth be told) demanding liberal views for the outside world...
