Australian in America

Ok this may have already been discussed before but i was always told years ago that American girls love the Aussie accent and us in general, is this still true? Any Aussies like to confirm this? I've only spent minimal time in LA and Vegas and have come across it a little bit but not to the extent that some say is a sure panty dropper. Also what's the story with getting a job in America for an Aussie, are there a lot of people working for cash under the table? I'd love to work in Vegas but i think i'd have to go that route because all the visa available for us are for under 35 as far as i can tell

Hey benji-

"American girls love the Aussie accent and us in general, is this still true?" Yes, as far as I know. I've met Aussies seasonally working at many ski resorts in the Rockies, and hosted at least one visiting skier (albeit, a Russian born immigrant to Oz). Likeable and fun the rep, here. And sexy to the females....YES!

"...what's the story with getting a job in America for an Aussie, are there a lot of people working for cash under the table?" Sorry, mate - I only know about those seasonal slots. Under the table temp stuff? Perhaps somebody else will weigh in. Ok?

I've spent alot of time in Las Vegas, years... I don't think an Australian accent is as exotic as it was a decade or so ago. After about a minute of conversation, with say, an American female, the novelty will wear off, and she'll treat you like she treats any other American male. Great ice breaker for sure though, use it to your advantage, but I wouldn't go into this thinking it's a major advantage.

And yes, there are millions and millions of people working under the table in the United States. But if you're an Australian with a 1st world background, I doubt you'd be willing to do the jobs which people whom work under the table tend to do. If you're looking to make some money, you can definitely do so in any major US city as a trader or some niche product.
