You used your parents' money for alcohol, coke, and hookers? That, or you used illegally generated money to do so, since you were ambiguous on that point. Further, after your parents paid for several years of schooling for a son that spends their money on alcohol, coke, and hookers, you have the gall to insult them by saying they "don't give a fuck?"

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but basically, you're an all-around, shitty human being.

My advice?

Cut the drugs.

Once you graduate, work two jobs if you need to, and pay back every cent your parents spent on you.

Once you've done that, tell them you appreciate everything they've done for you and will spend the rest of your life being the son you should have been.

Anything less is downright shameful.

I find all support of the parents cutting ties here a bit harsh. 22 is very young and young enough to present a better version of oneself to the parents. Mind you, the coke and alcohol will have been between ages 18-21 in a time that OP 'had' to use them in order to socialize with the other kids. Not so much wrong with this, albeit dangerous. No reason to go overly Victorian or Draconian here.

Improved social skills isan accomplishment which will help you in job interviews, dating, and later in your career. (Technical skills are very important in an entry level job but asyou progress, people skills become more important especially when you start managing subordinates.)

Many more people want to get into med school than do, yet they find other ways to be successful in life.

You've made mistakes with drugs,alcohol, bad time management. Everyone makes mistakes. Successful people learn from them and turn their lives around, as you seem to be doing. The past is water under the bridge. Focus on the future.

Almost no one will ask for a transcript when you interview for an entry level position. They may ask about grades. Find a way to answer vaguely without lying. "A's and B's" or some such.

Put the straw down and get to work. In the interview remind all the schools that you are paying cash.

You can go to a foreign medical school with ANY average. You know what they call the one who graduates last from medical school, or from some no-name ( but allowed to come to USA) medical school?

Doctor.

I worked with many foreign graduates, a lot of Indian Psychiatrists who were quite bright but have no hope of actually understanding people from America, but all the employers cared about was THE LICENSE. They hire the LICENSE not you unless you want a professor job at Yale or the like.

The salaries? 300K + to start for 40 hours a week with California State.

As for med school , unless you're 10000000 percent sure you want to become a Doc, I'd consider other options. I have many friends studying medicine and come from a family of Docs, its a hard overworked life and with an aging population as well as the health systems in the us,canada and Europe getting shittier and under more pressure,I'd say fuck it,do something else.

This forum is so fucking awesome for reasons like this ^. I got so much valuable advice in this thread, I feel guilty it's free. And people are interested in following up? It's great.

I'm not going to lie, I did relapse into a coke/alcohol bender this past weekend...but it was our college's signature "party" day, I realize that it's no excuse and I still need to work on circumnavigating social pressure....especially on "holidays"/"events".

I've decided that I need to focus on making the most out of every day I have left in college. So I've devised a "power list" where I won't let myself sleep until I finish the five tasks I listed for the day; They're all career/GPA-oriented except for the first one.

I know what I need to do, like members of this forum said.
I need to be sober, I need to salvage my GPA, I need to break-my-back at the internship next semester, etc.

If I'm not satisfied with my job by this time next year, I will join the air-force/army and look into some joint-masters program that'll make me a good contender for a decent MBA school.

I'm talking to a recruiter from both branches after Thanksgiving break.

I did the exact same from a far shittier school with a shittier major and did fine.

You seem very apologetic about the alcohol, which makes me think that your parents are against it, but isn't necessarily reflective of you and your situation.

Many of my friends got DUIs, and many are well employed at big 4 finance or the big tech companies and still did massive blow benders and life goes on for them. Most also are salvaging a shitty major and Goa from the same shitty school I went to and are doing just fine.

You do need some work experience though, for having that shitty of a GPA
