China murders innocent people for organs?

A few months ago reports arose that China was carrying out forced organ donations from thousands of persons. Is this more widespread than what is being shown?

Here is a quote from the article

THE Chinese government continues to carry out mass killings of innocent people in order to obtain their organs for transplants, a damning new report reveals.
The report — by former Canadian politician David Kilgour, human rights lawyer David Matas, and journalist Ethan Gutmann — shows that organ transplants are carried out in China 10 times more than official government figures reveal.
“The (Communist Party) says the total number of legal transplants is about 10,000 per year. But we can easily surpass the official Chinese figure just by looking at the two or three biggest hospitals,” Matas said in a statement.
The report estimates that 60,000 to 100,000 organs are transplanted each year in Chinese hospitals.

According to the report, the tens of thousands of organ transplants not reported by the government, are sourced from executed prisoners of conscience who were locked up for their religious or political beliefs.

“That increased discrepancy leads us to conclude that there has been a far larger slaughter of practitioners of Falun Gong for their organs than we had originally estimated,” the report read.
“The ultimate conclusion is that the Chinese Communist Party has engaged the state in the mass killings of innocents, primarily practitioners of the spiritually based set of exercises, Falun Gong, but also Uyghurs, Tibetans, and select House Christians, in order to obtain organs for transplants.”

Yes. The Party line is that those groups are class enemies and the people in them are expendable resources. There was incidentally a thread about Falun Gong (the main group of "donors") a while back. Few in the west know what it is and when they do they often think "weird Chinese cult" and leave it at that. Actually the Falun Gong issue is quite huge socially and politically in China but that's a whole different matter.

The Chinese, ever face-conscious, know that the world is kind of concerned with the organ harvesting that is already known to exist, so they claim that it was just a few death-row prisoners (less deserving of sympathy) when the vast majority of victims are normal Chinese except possessing the wrong beliefs. The CCP flat-out denies this aspect because then it would look too much like genocide.

Honestly I don't know why Christians don't make a bigger deal about Chinese believers being eviscerated. It probably has to do with denominational factionalization and the fact that Christianity is under attack everywhere already.

Partly because it is so dangerous. My friends (Canadian) father is still in prison in China after two years. His mother was negotiated release by Harper but still spent months in jail.

Being a Christian is fine in China, but asking questions such as these, or investigating and trying to help is very dangerous.

Only if you're part of the "Patriotic" Churches which are run by the government and are packed with informants.

Wow, yeah never thought of that. I always wondered why there were so many "Christians" in China. I thought it was mostly about business.

Well, there are a lot of genuine Christians in China. However, their churches are illegal and underground, often in people's houses. The visible Churches have all been co-opted by the government, which has been successful in stymieing the Catholic Church. It doesn't mean that the membership is entirely fake, but they absolutely are under surveillance just like the KGB did with the Orthodox Church in the Soviet Union.

The "Patriotic Catholic Church" is essential hostage and the Vatican is stuck trying to negotiate ties with them again and allow them to control the bishoprics which means they can't really do missionary work or spread the underground church without endangering things.

Obviously the Protestant sects don't have such issues which is why they've been far more successful in converts. In fact, it seems that they're far too successful for the government's liking. Then again, they are also the ones most likely to be diced up for their livers so some aging Politburo hack can get a transplant.
