Doorman or concierge on airbnb rentals potential problem?

Doorman or concierge on airbnb rentals potential problem?

I found a few listings on airbnb for apartments that list a doorman as an amenity. I'm wondering if this will present any problems if I try to bring a girl back home? The owner hasn't listed any rules for his apartment on airbnb though. I worried the doorman might cockblock me and not let me bring a guest home or report it to the owner.

Hell, if you aren't on the lease they might report YOU to the owner. As someone who has hosted on airbnb, I specifically avoided the prospect of renting a place with doormen. Didn't help in the end (my landlord found out and wasn't happy), but still. Obviously, you probably want to check out the place first. If it seems quite high-end, then the doorman is likely to be more nit-picky and ask you which room you're going to, if you have a contact, etc. Staff at other places might not care as long as you don't look like a homeless person. It really depends. At least this is how things are in NYC.

Where is this? This is very location dependent. In the western world I can see this being a problem, as only very upscale places have a concierge in the first place.

In some parts of Asia there is a security guard in any decent apartment building, they are part of the landscape. Be friendly with them, dress nice, and you won't have a problem. They are sleeping most of the times anyways.

Most of them are really cool guys, some will wink at you when they see you with new girls etc...

Actually it's a good idea to be friends with them, I've read stories on the forum somewhere about concierges saving guys asses when the girl turned to be a crazy mess who started making a scene in the apartment.

In BKK I told the guys in my condo to make a gesture if they suspect the girl I bring is a ladyboy, I'm good at spotting them but locals have a sixth sense.

Yep, I agree this is location dependant but also depends if the airbnb host is the owner of the flat or no.

Frankly when a single man rents a flat on airbnb, it is also to get some privacy (a decent girl feels less like a whore when she goes to an apartment instead of a hotel) so unless the host clearly states he doesnt want you to bring guests you should be able to bring a girl. The concierge has to mind his own business.

If the host is the owner and the concierge is a cunt and informs him, I don't see the problem as you aren't a priest, it is actually not even the owner's business that you bring a girl as long as you leave the place in a good state and don't bother the neighboors.

If the host isn't the owner then it can be problematic because if the owner knows he might not appreciate that his tenant is renting his place on airbnb.

In few words I would say do whatever you want, just avoid bringing prostitutes or drunk girls causing troubles and you should be fine.

I have rented places on airbnb in Brasil and some of these guards (would be a joke to call them concierge) didn't seem happy to see me with chicks but that was mainly jealousy I think.

I rented also places in London with proper concierge (well the job is still as shitty as the others, no offense to them) and I wouldn't hesistate 1 second to bring chicks, hell if you spend lot of money for a fancy place and you can't even bring a chick....

You're overthinking it. If the place has a concierge then the host owns the place outright or the staff is in cahoots with him. My LTR rented a place from AirBNB a year ago, with concierge. I would come a couple of times a week and the host never said anything nor did the concierge. Well, I acted as if lived there and just nodded my head in a "whats up" manner....so acting like you own it helps too.

Alright thanks guys. I guess I was overthinking it, worrying that the doorman would say I can't bring guest in or whatnot. I'm going to message the host now and ask if I can book the place.

Plus, if the guy renting it on AirBnb is not the real owner, it's none of your business if the owner finds out via douche concierges. Subrenting without permission of the owner is illegal in most places, it's the Airbnb guy getting into trouble not you. You'll have left way before shit hits the fan.

No idea about Poland, but in the Czech republic I was in 2 aribnbs with security guard and no problem, one of them was actually very nice. Strong rugged old czech guy, he was trying to give me hints on czech girls with his broken English, kind of cute.
