Yep, the hype is probably gonna die down within a month -- but this is the Beta version and they're still testing a lot of shit. Plan on adding a lot of interactive stuff following the global launch of the Beta --- that may develop more..stable interest, so to say. According to the article linked below: Basically, if you sign in with your Google account on iOS, you give the app makers the ability to:

• Read all your email
• Send email as you
• Access all your Google drive documents (including deleting them)
• Look at your search history and your Maps navigation history
• Access any private photos you may store in Google Photos
• And a whole lot more
  

I would uninstall and revoke app permissions IMMEDIATELY. The ability to read your email means that they could potentially download and store everything.

For some reason that’s not shown in this case, but I went ahead and logged in anyway. Then on a whim I went to see which permissions it was granted (you can see for your own account right here). To say I was a little stunned is putting it lightly - it said:

Pokemon Go has full access to your Google account

Here are a couple of excerpts from the Google help page about what this means:

When you grant full account access, the application can see and modify nearly all information in your Google Account

This “Full account access” privilege should only be granted to applications you fully trust, and which are installed on your personal computer, phone, or tablet.

Let me be clear - Pokemon Go and Niantic can now:

• Read all your email
• Send email as you
• Access all your Google drive documents (including deleting them)
• Look at your search history and your Maps navigation history
• Access any private photos you may store in Google Photos

I’ve revoked their access to my account, and deleted the app. I really wish I could play, it looks like great fun, but there’s no way it’s worth the risk.

I haven't installed it, just passing along info from that article which popped up on some engineering news sites. If you did not sign in with Google, you wouldn't have given it any permissions.

From the linked article, it seems like it is a bug in the iOS authentication kit for Google sign in, so it's not replicable across all devices and accounts.

Heard about the game it sounds stupid and childish. I'd much rather level up my: earning potential, physique, and game in real live; then take care of a virtual pet. But It's getting the fatties walking, and some guys are claiming that it's helping them get numbers. Apparently many 18-20 year olds were in middle school when the pokemon craze was hitting during the 90's. I was extremely skeptical but while taking a walk today I saw two 8's-9's walking around obviously playing; along with a younger guy later on. Women are the primary players of mobile games, and because of current demographics this particular game may appeal to our target audience.

I might try to load up the game to see if there's an easy way it will help me score more numbers at the local university. The Freshmen are trickling in from now until school starts back up. So there may be some gold to be mined. Then again I have no problem getting valid numbers while day gaming college chicks when I'm in practice. The bottleneck I'm trying to fix is converting more of those numbers into bangs due to the extremely flaky nature of that cohort. I'm doubtful a mobile game will help with that. But I guess it's worth a look.

Now I know you're confused to see this in the game section, And your thinking. "Havvey, my boy. This isn't game, at best it's a sad link in the lifestyle section." But here me out. If you don't know about pokemon go it's a new smart phone game that is taking the world (well at least New Zealand by storm) Go research it yourself. I'm not your mother. If you do, lets get started.

Is a great way to do insta-dates and to have no AA.
Best in city. Main street, public parks, tourist areas.

Let me preface this by saying that you don't even need to be a pokemon fan to use this. All you need to know is a few of them that you are "looking for". My go to picks are Pikachu, Growlithe and Slowpoke (After all, isn't a good slow poke why we game ) These are reasonably uncommon, but cute pokemon that can be respected.

All this really involves is going to a popular stop or just walking around cool areas with the app on your phone, you might look like a tool, but you know, what's new. Now granted that the main girls who play this game may not be your type, I'm lucky, my work mate is a fox who plays and makes a great pivot when are are out together. But you aren't limited to just the players. You will be approaching girls and groups who also have their phone out, Anyone holding a phone is fair. From my experience anyone under 30 is a valid target. Just stay out of them highschools lads, we aren't trying to get put on any sort of list today. To open the group/girl you can say any number of things. My standard is yelling, "hey have you got anything cool around here?", but a "have you got a dratini?" or "yo, what level are you?" also seem to be fine and then walking over, showing my phone with the game running and going from there. If they are playing the game or not it really doesn't matter. If they are, cool, you have common ground, if they aren't, you've opened now, apologize for your mistake like a gentleman, ramble and find something else to talk about. Socks might work?

If they are playing, you want to do the "I'm looking for a *NameGoesHere*, have you seen any around?" If she has seen one, ask where she is going and if it's nowhere special, insist she takes you to where she found it. Get chatting, if you know a bit, conversation should be easy, if you don't go read Day Bang.

After a bit of walking around maybe you get thirsty and want to stop at a cafe where you can talk about more heavy stuff to show you do more than nerd stuff. I don't know. Still not your mother. Or maybe think you saw a cool pokemon just over there, and the only way to get too it is to link arms and skip over there. Oh dam, your phone must have glitched. oh well, the group is all the way back there now, what a shame.

The main thing is that for this is currently a totally acceptable way to approach people at the moment. But then again I'm a happy go-lucky dork , if you are a $1000 suit wearing boss, you might need to modify this a lot. Just keep the attitude up beat when you approach. Remember you're just looking for pokemon help. It is just a game.

I was able to create an account through the pokemon website without signing up with a gmail account. So not sure what the hysteria in this thread is about. Yes, you give up permissions to the camera. But plenty of people on here have no problem letting Snapchat use their camera.

Come on I'm as skeptical of certain things as anyone but don't go full tinfoil on this app just yet. If the government wanted to find out information about you they could either way. We're long past the point of privacy in the U.S. at least. If you have a social media profile, google profile, or a smartphone you are getting tracked.

If some of you start coming back with lay reports of bangs while playing pokemon, then I will concede that this app can help you get laid. I can see that happening in college towns for sure. But yes, better to just try talking to girls that you are attracted to and try to get them into bed, instead of trying to play video games with them as an opener, just open them as an opener. If you are in college, "want to smoke some weed? I have some back in my dorm room/apt/whatever" will probably help you get laid a lot easier than "hey have you seen pikachu? I was thinking yesterday that there's an opener here. There's a bunch of threads on how to open a chick who's absorbed in her phone: "hey, are you playing Pokemon?". Especially if she's walking around - "careful, you don't want to end up on the news". It's a lever to break her out of phone mode. It'll work for this summer at least.
